A Magical Place at a Magical Time of Year

That's ok - if you got it right, I will award points, even if someone else answered it first. That's my rule :)

I think I like your rules better than Ann's....:cool1:

I have to agree that Hailey is a stunning Ariel...and that costume...WOW!

:rotfl2: Oh, now I am hurt. :rotfl::lmao: Ok.. so I admit my game is a bit random and hard to score... and maybe even a bit unorganized. but that will make Susan's all the more fun ;)

Just teasin you Ann...I never seem to catch the pictures as they are posted...

Haha well I wasn't trying to make it easier than Ann's. Just setting a standard as we get started. Thanks for the compliments on my niece, but they really go to her or my sister. I had nothing to do with it! :rotfl: I guess I should post some pics of Katie so you can see her. Maybe soon, when I slow down a little.

Hah your game is lots of fun Ann!

I agree. I never seem to log on in time for Ann's.

So the rumored Free Dining extension was released today, and it looks like we "might" be able to take advantage of it. As in - it applies for our check-in date. I'll have to run the numbers when I have some time, but every other time I've checked, my 40% PIN at the Poly wins over FD, and you can't combine them. Plus, we usually don't eat as much as what comes on the plan. Plus, with that "surprise" I have in my back pocket, we may not need to eat as much at restaurants as we normally would. So I doubt we will be taking advantage of FD, but if something changes, I'll post it here.

Today's trivia:
136 days until Disney. What did Walt Disney consider the most important part of his "Florida Project"?
A EPCOT
B Magic Kingdom
C The quality of the resort hotels
D The establishment of a self-governing municipality

And yesterday's question:
Can you name the disc jockey who is broadcasting "live" from the concert at the beginning of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith ride?
A Big Joe Henry
B Uncle Joe Benson
C Uncle Floyd
D Casey Kasem
Answer: B. "Uncle Joe Benson" is a famous classic rock DJ from Los Angeles. He reassures you that if you're late for the Aerosmith concert, you don't have to worry - his station will be broadcasting live from the show.

I will get A. Epcot

I've been out of town for our annual Partner Advance. I am a partner in a CPA firm and our philosophy is "never retreat", so instead of a retreat, we have an annual Advance. We are fortunate that we get one night/day in San Francisco, followed by 2 nights/days in Napa. It was cold in San Francisco and I got to wear my new brown cropped leather jacket (very exciting) and it was beautiful weather in Napa. A nice break from the heat in Austin.

I got back last night, and today is my Mom's 70th birthday. We are sooooo thankful to have her with us, because we almost lost her 2 years ago to MRSA/meningitis (which is still unexplained as to how she contracted it). She was in ICU/PCU (step-down) for 36 days, followed by another 30 days in a rehab hospital, followed by skilled nursing and now assisted living. She is doing very well and is apparently fully recovered, except for her kidneys. She has dialysis M-W-F and is on the transplant list.

So last night we did some quick Target shopping (the $1 items at the front of the store and some other stocking-stuffer-type things) and went to my sister's house to organize and wrap. Today, it was Mom's task to open 70 gifts (one for each of her years), each 10 minutes apart. Her finale was dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse and a Kindle and cover. She's had a great day!

So I apologize for not updating, but I've been crazy busy. Still looking very much forward to this Disney trip, and the good thing about being busy is that the time goes by more quickly. :thumbsup2

So, today's trivia:
131 days until Disney. Where are the horses that pull the trolleys on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom kept?
a) In a stable behind Adventureland
b) Near Rafiki's Planet Watch in Disney's Animal Kingdom
c) Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort
d) Off property in a stable used exclusively by Disney

And the last trivia question I posted last week:
What did Walt Disney consider the most important part of his "Florida Project"?
A EPCOT
B Magic Kingdom
C The quality of the resort hotels
D The establishment of a self-governing municipality
Answer: A Epcot. In February 1967, just two months after Walt Disney's death, Walt Disney Productions announced that it was going to build Walt Disney's dream of a city of tomorrow in WDW. Walt had outlined his plans for that city in a film he narrated. In it, he states that "The most exciting and by far the most important part of our Florida Project - in fact, the heart of everything we'll be doing in Disney World - will be our Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. We call it 'EPCOT'. EPCOT will be an experimental prototype community of tomorrow that will take its cue from teh creative centers of American industry. It will be a community of tomorrow that will never be completed, but will always be introducing and testing and demonstrating new materials and systems. And EPCOT will always be a showcase to the world for the ingenuity and imagination of American free enterprise. I don't believe there's a challenge anywhere in the world that's more important to people everywhere than finding solutions to the problems of our cities."

Next time: Let's talk about 'Ohana and WCC.

That's really neat about making your mom open up the 70 presents! Very cute idea. We've been finding little 1 and 2$ Disney things for Alexa. We'll wrap them and let her start opening them 30 days from trip day. We've got a couple bigger things like her minnie lanyard and pins and nice coloring set for the road trip.

and I'm going to say C. Fort Wilderness!

OMG.. what I neat thing to do for your mom!!!

As for the guess... I guess A. Behind Adventureland. :goodvibes

We had lots of fun pulling the stuff together for Mom, and she really enjoyed the day.

I said that we'd talk about 'Ohana and WCC today. That was because I didn't like my 6:10pm 'Ohana reservation on the night of MVMCP. I really want to get to MK at the beginning of the party. I was considering looking for an 'Ohana ADR on Saturday (our arrival day) and moving our WCC to Sunday (our MVMCP day).

Well, this morning, I just checked the dining reservation system on a whim (it's been very hard to get into the system since FD was announced!) and lo and behold, there was a beautiful 4:30pm 'Ohana dinner ADR available on our MVMCP night! Needless to say I snagged that one up. I am pretty excited about this.

But in the "more fun" category, I sent the IPO an email to update them on the new reservation and the canceled one, so they'd update my itinerary. In my email, I made this comment: "P.S. I think it's kinda cool that our reservation number has HM in it (for Hidden Mickey)!"

Well, here was the IPO's response: "Thank you for your eMail. We have updated your Itinerary and attaChed a new copy for you. Please taKe a momEnt to look it over and let us know if there is anYthing else we can assist you in adding or changing. We look forward to seeing you in December!"

At first I was thinking "wow, that CM's keyboard must be really messing up, or they're in a real hurry..." But when I figured it out, I thought it was very cool how crafty those Disney CMs can be! Just a small dose of pixie dust added to my day today.:dance3:

Trivia:
130 days until Disney. During the IlluminNations nighttime show, all of the pavilions in World Showcase are illuminated except one. Which is it?
a.) Italy
b.) China
c.) Japan
d.) Morocco

a) In a stable behind Adventureland

Answer: C. Guests can catch a ride in Town Square or in front of Cinderella Castle near Central Plaza for a one-way, horse-drawn trolley ride down Main Street, U.S.A. The horsed used to pull the trolleys make their home at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Their horseshoes are made of plastic, because it was found to be easier on their hooves than metal.

I got this one....

D-Morocco! It has something to do with Islamic customs...but I don't remember exactly why!

:thumbsup2 Glad you got ADR for Ohana!

Morocco- My brother loves the world showcase and wanted to know why it wasn't lite up years ago, so when he looked it up, he found out that the buildings are replicas of buildings that have religious significance to the country. The Moroccan government asked the buildings not be lite up as a sign of respect for their religion.

Nobody got the humor in the IPO's email? Awwww....

129 days until Disney. In the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, what is the Captain's name?
a.) Captain Horatio Hornblower
b.) Captain Stubing
c.) Captain Horatio Witherspoon
d.) Captain Jack Sparrow

Yesterday's trivia:
During the IlluminNations nighttime show, all of the pavilions in World Showcase are illuminated except one. Which is it?
a.) Italy
b.) China
c.) Japan
d.) Morocco
Answer: d.) Morocco. Because the buildings in the Morocco pavilion are replicas of structures with great religious significance, they are not lit.

Tammie and Ashley each get two points. One for the answer, and one for knowing the reason why. Tammie can have another bonus point to match the bonus points awarded yesterday to keep everyone from starting at zero.

Remember, I'll give a bonus point if you can post a picture or link related to the answer!
