A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...DISNEY WORLD!! pre trip report!!

Just found your PTR and wanted to say Hi!

DH and I are huge SW fans as well. I also grew up watching VHS recorded from TV SW movies! My first was Empire Strikes Back. (That's not exactly true - apparently my first was Return of the Jedi in the theater when I was a toddler but I have absolutely no memory of that - bummer!) We also had the two Ewok movies on recorded VHS and I remember being a little confused at first as to how those all fit together. I got it eventually.

I've also read the books but I stopped when a certain character (my fav) was killed off. My DH and I actually met because I was reading a SW book in class and he thought that was pretty cool.

So exciting that you get to be there for a week with the SWW and the 24hr party!!!!!!! <- some exclamation points for you ;) You are so close to leaving, jealous!

If you haven't listened to the SW Radio Dramas, I highly recommend them. Pretty awesome with some extra scenes! I'm a huge fan of radio shows as well so I get pretty excited about it.

Here's to hoping that Disney re-releases the original movies in their original form on DVD! :woohoo:

Yay for those of us with confused early childhood SW timelines cause we watched them out of order.

Which character was that? SPOILER............................mara?

I actually stopped reading the books at that point too. I'm not sure so much that I was outraged about that, but I think at that point the SW Universe just felt so narrow.

There really weren't that many characters that we were following, and then they just started to kill them all off.

And it seemed like the only characters that did anything of galactic significance were in our little circle of 15 buddies that we knew from the books. What about bringing in some fresh characters?

My favorite books in the EU by far were all the Xwing squadron (rogue and wraith) books. Loads of new, great characters. And as much as I loved following Luke, Leia and Han around, it was nice to see that the universe really was bigger.

I never thought to listen to the radio dramas, I'll have to look into that.

Oh gosh, don't even get Brian started on Lucas editing the movies and then not allowing the originals to be released. He is hardcore into that argument. I'd like the originals released to, if only because the movie won actual awards for stuff like special effects, and now you can't even watch the original work.

That's so cool how you and your husband met! I also stopped reading the books when they killed off my favorite character. It still makes me mad!

The above statements go for you too, about which favorite character.

Talk about a good update! No back and forth that's great!!

Still trying to figure out when we will be at the same places. :) Are you staying at the BC for your whole trip? I somehow was thinking you were doing a split stay but went back and looked for that and couldn't find it so maybe I am thinking of someone else. We will be at POP our first two nights then moving to BC on the 24th (YES...I am not thrilled with having to change resorts the day after the 24 hour party....if my room isn't ready I might be napping at Stormalong Bay! I guess things could be worse.... ;)). Our schedule is this:

Thursday May 22 arrival in AM-POP check in-DHS-Dinner at Chef Mickeys 8pm

Friday May 23-MK 24 hours. CP 9:50/BOG FP 1:30 (not sure we will be ready for lunch yet so it might just be cupcakes and looking around! We haven't been yet!)

Saturday May 24-Resort change to BC. Sleep! DTD?-Rest of family arrives at 5:30ish. Beaches and Cream 6:30-DHS for fireworks

Sunday May 25-AK. Tusker House 1:30(ish). Possible DTD or MK in evening.

When do you leave? Sunday? I won't list the rest of our schedule....

I need to get things organized here...we have all been sick which sucks but at least we are getting it out of the way before Disney! (Fingers crossed).

Will you be posting on twitter/Instagram? I am on both and am stacyleigh9 if you want to follow us!

We are actually in Beach Club for the first couple days to make SWW easier. So we'll be there May 15-19. Then moving to All Star Music. You should totally just conk out and nap at Storm Along Bay. Just make yourself a little sign that says 'I attended MK 24 hours'. People will understand.

We are leaving Sunday but by all means, list the rest of your schedule, I'd love to see it :thumbsup2

We'll also be at DHS at some point on Saturday. If FP+ for the Star Wars shows comes out I'll try to grab one for Warwick Davis' show, I've heard its real good.

We are most likely going to be in AK at some point Sunday. That is our last day so we'll probably try to hit up favorites at every park.

I like how your thinking about being sick. Get it out of the way now :rotfl2:

I am actually just starting up twitter and instagram before the trip, I will definitely add you and I'll post my usernames here once I finalize them :)

:jumping1: Waaaahoooo!!! Thats so exciting!! :jumping1:

Your Disney dedication of flying back and worth has been rewarded with just getting to stay the whole time! Very happy for you! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I hadn't heard that Diagon Alley might be getting some soft openings this month. That would be pretty awesome!! :woohoo:

I hadn't even considered that prospect, it just makes the trip even more exciting! I've been to Islands of Adventure a few times in the past couple years, but haven't made it to the Universal park, and there is a ton of new stuff.

Like all the Simpsons stuff, the Despicable Me ride, Transformers, and I think a few I'm forgetting.

Yay for those of us with confused early childhood SW timelines cause we watched them out of order.

Yes, I think I've mentioned before (not sure if here) that my daughter's name is Mara.

I can't wait to read about your trip! Sounds like you have an amazing plan ready :). We were talking about SW this weekend and it turns out that my husband's open to going to SWW when the kiddos are older!!!! They're only two now so not for quite a while but at least he's into it more then I thought he would be.

Yes you did mention that, sorry.

How can you not be into Star Wars weekends?? I can't believe I haven't gone before. I hope you get to go sooner than you think :)

I've now made some SWW FP+. They opened up tier one for the shows so I got us all a Stars of the Saga FP for the first weekend, then I got Brian and I an Ewok's Short Story for weekend 2.

I'm so excited for that one, Warwick Davis is all sorts of awesome.

I'm getting to the point where I'm so excited for my trip I'm going to have to start really wearing myself out during the day so I can sleep at night.

I think I was waking up at 5 am for a solid week before the last trip.

I've already started to have Disney dreams. In the last one I forgot my Donald costume and then no one was meeting up with me at the park.

Disney dreams are normal...right?

Its almost time!! Are you feeling pretty ready?

I worked on my 24 hour costume yesterday (and its really not that elaborate) but I have discovered that no matter what I do my ears for Bolt look like bunny ears. I kind of just reached a point that I need to take a break with it. I was really hoping to have the outfit completed this weekend.

I saw on here about Amazon Pantry and am pretty excited about that (for water delivery). Not sure if you are a Prime member but it seems like a good way to get beverages without a car. The delivery of $5.99 seems worth it and you can really add a ton to that box! I just wish they had a better selection for some in room breakfast snacks (my youngest looks at vacation as a time to have pop tarts for breakfast).

Well, this won't be a spoiler alert to OhioStateBuckeye or JediBonas but if anyone else is reading this and doesn't want to know - SPOILER ALERT!!

I stopped reading when Chewbacca died. I can't even talk about it. So, yeah, WAY before Mara dies. Though my husband keeps me generally updated on the goings on and I had heard from him that she died as well. If Chewbacca wasn't enough for me, Mara would have done me in for sure. DH says that they are now also jumping on the zombie bandwagon?? That is just crazy. I feel like the stories have gotten out of hand. I agree that the universe has gotten really narrow and we rarely follow other characters' stories after we meet them. It's too bad but I did enjoy them for a little while at least!

I am sooo ready to go! I packed most of my stuff yesterday and got most of the house clean.

I still need to go through my vinylmation collection and set aside the ones I will be trading.

If the Bolt ears look like bunny ears maybe they need to be a bit smaller? I'm not sure what your using to make them, but that could be a solution.

We will definitely be looking for you guys at the 24 hour day! If you want to look out for us remember, we will be Donald, Mickey and Minnie.

Brian's mom and sister arrive on Wednesday and they are renting a car, so they were going to do a grocery stop. Mmm, I used to eat cinnamon pop tarts all the time. I think we're going with bagels and honey nut cheerios.

I didn't know Amazon offered that service, I am a prime member so I may use that in the future. Thanks :thumbsup2

Yeah that sucked. Especially since they went and killed off Anakin a couple books later. Poor Chewie.

Zombie bandwagon?? Ugh. Star Wars...:confused3 People will read about adventures of different characters you know. Like I said, my favorites are far and away the X Wing novels.

OK.

The countdown is...

1 workout
3 nights
1 viewing of the Book of Mormon (sooo excited about this!)
and 29 hours of work left.

Ugh, zombies? Seriously? Yes, Chewie was a surprise, then Anakin sucked, but Mara pushed me over the edge. I wish I had stopped after the Yuuzack Vong invasion (wow, I butchered that name).

Exciting! I've heard great things about Book of Mormon, too! Although I don't think my inlaws knew exactly what it was going to be about ;)

Soooo, I didn't know there was vinylmation trading!? I just had to quickly google it and I found this video. Is it still like that? I do have one vinylmation which will be staying home cause I lurve him(Jack Skellington!). But I was planning on buying some to add to my collection, but if theirs trading thats just gonna add a whole new aspect!

Oh man, you leave so soon! Sooo exciting!! How are you sleeping at all?!!! :yay:

You didn't butcher it. I think you were going for Yuck Vong.

I have no idea how I'm sleeping. Last trip I was up at 5 am each morning the week before the trip super excited. This time I've been able to keep sleeping. Getting up at 6 am for work so I can get 11 hours in is helping to keep me in bed though I think...

Yes that video is basically how it works. Unfortunately they don't have trading in the hotels, there are a few locations in each park and then D Street at Downtown Disney and the pin trading shop have the trading.

The place at D Street will most likely 'make' you trade, so you can usually pick two numbers and most places will let you keep yours if you don't like the traders, but D Street makes you trade for some reason.

Only other thing I caution you, if your going to buy some and trade them, maybe look them up online first and make sure you don't have a chaser or a variant. Those can go for a lot of money on ebay.

Happy you are staying on schedule with your sleep! Don't want to go into vacation with lack of it thats for sure!

Thanks for the tips! I will make sure to look up the trading locations and keep in mind D Street and their grumpy policy when trading. lol. Now I'm more excited to get vinylmations!! :cheer2:

Hi! I just noticed your PTR, not sure how I missed it before. This is awesome.

Not sure where I rank in SW fandomness. Probably somewhere in the middle. I'm old enough to have seen all three original movies in the theaters, but young enough that I fell asleep for the first one. :guilty: Had lots of the action figures as a kid. My mom sold most of them off in a garage sale, but I still have a couple of them. And for whatever reason, the trash compactor monster from the Death Star playlet.

I got really into it spent a TON of money collecting the second generation of action figures starting in 1995. I had most of them up through Episode 1. Was a member of the Star Wars fan club. Yada yada yada. Then had kids and had to switch my priorities. Unfortunately, none of my kids are really into Star Wars much. So, I've been more of a fair weathered fan the last 14 years or so.

All that being said, we are going on a big family trip in June and will be attending saturday #4 of SW Weekends. My DW and kids aren't interested in braving the crowds, so they are going to Animal Kingdom. My mom and dad love Star Wars, so the three of us will be attending together. I'm super psyched to have FP+ for the Stars of the Saga with Mark Hamill himself!!! My mom also made a reservation for me to do the D-Tech Me experience. I chose the storm trooper option. Looking forward to that!!! This will be my first SW weekend experience. Really looking forward to it.

And looking forward to your Trip Report, hoping to learn some things to apply to our weekend :cool1:

Vinylmations are super addictive, so get ready for that :thumbsup2

If you have any more questions about them just PM me or ask.

Aww I really wanted to do D Tech but we are doing both the meals and the Feel the Force package so something had to go :sad1:

Did you see that there is going to be a separate Mark Hamill show?

Well, we are down to the FINAL COUNTDOWN (cue awesome song)

Yesterday I woke up at 5 and couldn't really get back to sleep.

Last night I was in bed promptly at 10 but couldn't fall asleep until around 11:30, then woke up at 2 with a case of vacation excitement but luckily fell back asleep a bit later and didn't wake up until 645. So not that bad.

I'll be getting in my 40 hours at 3:06 today. Our flight leaves at 5:25 so Brian will be picking me up at work and we'll do the 10 minute drive to the airport.

I am pretty excited :cheer2: I'm trying to hold my excitement in since I still have what seems like a ton of work hours left. Ah well, time to go back to my Disney Parks spotify station.

Thanks for the heads up on the Mark Hamill show. I'll be keeping a close eye on the "Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks -The Adventure Continues" thread to see if FP+ becomes available :cool1:

BOOK OF MORMON!!!

I LOOOOVE the Book of Mormon!! I was able to see it last year when it came through Minneapolis in Feb. Amazing! We had to wait so long for it to come to us. It's coming back next year and I have to make sure I keep an eye out for presales. Those tickets went fast last time and they are not cheap!

Did you like it?? It's definitely a different (and offensive) show but it has great heart!

ALMOST THERE - YOU CAN DO IT!! ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!

I loooooved it! hahah. I still have the 'Hello, my name is Elder Price' song stuck in my head. My BF and I keep saying hello to each other in weird voices.

And I swear the theme of the trip to WDW will be 'just turn it off'.

I cracked up so hard when Elder Price's mecca was Orlando. Brian turned and whispered 'thats you!'. I'd love to die and go to an Orlando planet.

The best part was listening to the official soundtrack on spotify and almost shouting 'thats olaf!!'.

Good luck getting tickets again!

I can't believe today is the day!! Safe travels! Hope I see you there next week!

Just got back late night Sunday! Really had an awesome trip and hope to start the report tonight :cool1:

I'll post a link to the report tonight, so be sure to come on over :thumbsup2
