A little worried about my doggie...(Happy update!)

Good Luck!! I have spent ( and continue to spend) a small fortune on my dogs. I will keep him in my prayers.

I'm still trying to figure out what part of his male anatomy this is :rolleyes1

Sure you are. ;)

Let me say this. Not only does it feel like that particular piece of anatomy--according to DH--Max won't let me touch it--it looks like it too. It's sort of a double lump.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. :) He has to be cut off from food and drink after his dinner on Sunday night. He'll be O.K. with the food part because that's his usual schedule, but he'll be looking for his water Monday morning and won't be happy when he can't get it.

Hi Janice, I hope Max's surgery goes well on Monday and the lump turns out to be nothing. You and Max will be in my prayers.

Randy is fine. His lumps were just fat deposits. Thanks everyone for the well-wishes. :goodvibes

Best wishes to Max, Janice.

By the way, was he neutered? ;)

Hoping that everything went well as I know how pets are part of the family

Finally heard from the vet and it's good news! It's a fatty tumor. Vet says to expect them to happen from now on.

Max did not enjoy his surgery one bit. It's a good thing he's always been healthy because he is a horrible patient. They sent him home with a cone around his collar so he wouldn't pick at his incision. After we got home, he worked for 20 minutes to get it off. He squatted on the floor then pushed and pulled it with his front paws until it came off. Fortunately, his stitches are the dissolving type.

Maybe they were just being nice, but the people in the vet's office did tell us they think he's a very bright dog. We think he is too, which is why we call him Max the Mighty Wonder Dog.

Great to hear that, Janice!!

Our previous dog Lewie HATED those Cone of Shame things too. I was very glad that our new puppy Remus did not have one of those after he was neutered.

Give Max an extra pat from me!

What great news! Benign fatty tumors (lipomas) are a pain, and Max had one in a very nasty spot.

We have had success with the BiteNot collar rather than the E-collar(cone). The pups find the BiteNot far harder to get off, but it does not work for all surgical sites. Speaking from experience -- please don't let him mess with the incision site. You don't know gross until you have had an incision unzip at 1:00 am and an E-vet visit. Major bucks, major clean-up, and major trauma for DH (he does not like blood).:sad2:

Hi Janice,

Oh I am so happy to hear that he is okay and the surgery went well!

Give Max a hug for me!
