A little rambling and a question

We will be coming to Disneyland from New Zealand in late September, not sure who will have the most fun, the adults or the children.
However, I think we have been too hasty with our hotel reservation, booked Howard Johnson Plaza online through their website and it seemed good at the time as it was a National Brand Promotion rate which was cheaper than what had been showing up until then. Of course I had locked in the (non-refundable, non-changeable) booking before I found this board and mention of the Entertainment Card rate.........bother, bother, but these thing happen.
Now, can someone help with a family discussion. It can't be called a difference of opinion since no-one claims to know the answer.
On our last visit, 10 years ago, we stayed in a hotel/motel close to Disneyland that had a family type restaurant in a separate building on the property. We think the rooms were in several buildings of two or three floors.
I can also remember being picked up by a small shuttle bus and delivered to a coach park that was practically straight across the street to join a tour that we had booked.
Can anyone provide an answer from those somewhat vague clues?

First, what if you emailed hojoanaheim, with Lorealle's name in the body of the email, and let them know your reservation info to see if something could be done about the reservations? YOu can look on their website for contact info, or I'm sure someone will toss Lorealle's email address your way when America gets up in the morning. :) Or you could go to the Discussion boards on hojoanaheim.com, and look around for a contact button for her there, too!

Family restaurant near a motel...Fairfield is near Millie's. They are on Harbor. But the 2-3 story thing isn't right for Fairfield.

If it was perhaps on Katella, below DCA (below a parking lot back then), it could be Anabella. They have a restaurant called Tangerine and they have lower buildings that make up their motel grounds.

Mimi's isn't really part of a motel aprking lot, though it's right across the street from HoJo. You might look around thips map as a family. Those links open in the same page, so I'd right click on 'em to open them separately...you'd figure that out quickly but I thought I'd give you a head's up anyway.

Good luck!

Did you walk to Disneyland or take a shuttle?
Do you recall if the restaurant was a coffee shop style place or more a dinner restaurant?

There's soooo many places it could have been. Trying to narrow the list. :)

What a fun trip you have coming in September,
Dreams

Sounds a little like the Anaheim Plaza, did it have a big olympic sized pool? Otherwise maybe BW Park Place Inn which has Captain Kidds right next door.... As for your booking I would try Lorealle and see what can be done, I understand they accept the NZ Enteraintbook card as well.

I see that you are going in September and I assume it is 2009. At this time Howard Johnson Anaheim does not have any Entertainment “full discounted” rates listed for that month. They can appear at any time but Lorealle (Reservations Specialist) will not know ahead of time. She puts up the new dates as soon as they are given to her. You can check their message board on their website. Check often as the dates can pop up and sell out quickly. Their board also has a great deal of good information about the hotel and surrounding area.

I completely agree with Bumbershoot. Please send Lorealle an e-mail. Give her your reservations dates and the name the reservation was made under. Ask her if you would be able to get the Entertainment rate if they became available on your dates. I have heard people get it even with non-changeable rates before. If she says no then you have lost nothing but if she says yes you could save some real money. They are very nice at the hotel and will help you if they can.

It is very important that you deal directly with the hotel’s “in house reservations” and not the national reservation center. Here is her e-mail. Lorealle.Bishop@hojoanaheim.com

Good luck and have a great trip.

Kay

I just realized.... am I permitted to list e-mail addresses here? I hope so. Sorry if I was not suppose to.

This place is really a mine of information. Thank you so much.
I have sent a message to Lorealle at the hotel, even if the rates are set in concrete they are still pretty reasonable, we think.
As to the hotel we stayed in in 1999, we now think it was probably the Anaheim Plaza, thank you for your suggestions.
What we DO remember about our stay is seeing the menfolk of a wedding party in the hotel foyer who were wearing Scottish national dress. They looked most uncomfortable as the temperature that day must have been around 33 Celsius.
We were worried that the bridegroom might faint at the altar.
