Love the countdown board. You really are more creative than I am, despite your protestations! :rolleyes1

If you say so. I just feel like a big idea thief!

The card house was totally a fluke. Promise.

Mothers Day was, well, just another day :) DH did take Friday off and take me to lunch for my belated birthday present, but DH worked the rest of the weekend. Saturday DS had 2 soccer games (the second an hour away) and Sunday was crazy busy. We went to church where I work (not the church we attend, but DS is heavily involved in the youth group there and it was a youth led Sunday, and DS was giving a testimony about their upcoming mission trip to Belize) We changed in the bathroom at church, ran to grab lunch, drove an hour to soccer, then after the game ran home long enough to change out of sweaty clothes, then back to work for a mission trip meeting. We left our house at 10am and really didn't get back home again until 9:30 that night. I did get various flowers and cards though, so they didn't forget me.

Tonight is Nemo movie night. I'm heading out here in a few minutes to grab a couple last minute things (Crush soda and tartar sauce) I've already decorated, so now I just bide time until the kids get home from school. Only 2 more Fridays off home alone until August!

Okay, I have to tell you that I just finished reading your TR from your worst trip ever. Talk about the opposite of having a horseshoe up your butt! Glad you guys have been able to make it back to get better memories. It was a great TR to read though because it puts things into perspective, not every trip is a magical trip and life gets in the way sometimes..in the form of puke and poop!

That trip was a mess from the second we left our house :lmao: At one point it was so ridiculous that we were saying "man, this is the worst vacation ever" if someone dropped a spoon or something!

Buffet line. We had fish sticks (which we realized our 7 year old had never had!) shrimp cocktail, mac n cheese with goldfish crackers, pineapple spears (tentacles) blue jello with gummy fish and Crush soda. Total junk food night (most of which I can't eat because of food allergies, so I'm ready for a sandwich!)

Looks like you have had some super fun dinner & movie nights :thumbsup2

Those catepillar donuts for your Alice in Wonderland night were SOOOO cute!

We did Lilo & Stitch in March and Finding Nemo last weekend. Its always fun to see what others do for the dinner & movie nights. I take bits and pieces from the posts I read here on the Dis and just make it our own.

Oh, and the countdown calendar...super cute! I want to do something like that for our Dec trip, not the Oct one since its a suprise for the kids. I just dont know what I want to do...

Hi Shellody, I am stopping by from the FB group. I wanted to see if you had more movie night pics up and you do! I love them! We are doing once a month until Sept then weekly the last month so we have only done the one peter pan night but the kids loved it! I absolutely adore the catepillar donuts, so cute!! And the crush soda was a great idea!

Your countdown calendar is amazing too!!! :) Great job!

The kids are having a great time, and they are liking it even better since they get to rotate who is "in charge"!

I should have stuck with once a month instead of once a week :)

Looks like another successful movie night! You guys look like your really enjoying these!:thumbsup2

The kids are having so much fun, and we're on tap for another one this weekend.

So, this weekend movie night is DS's choice, and he picked Dinosaur. Of course he did. He's a dinosaur freak. We're also going to throw in Jurassic Park for a double feature to pay respect to our trip to Islands of Adventure.

Decorations are easy. We have enough dinosaur crap in our house to start a museum :) I have dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets and I'm going to bake dinosaur shaped cookies they can frost as an activity.

After that, I'm stumped. I need to get researching on food ideas and another activity, but this week has been so crazy with soccer, karate, school and end of school year stuff, plus work has been crazy with year end lunches for teachers (where I work has a preschool) and our annual volunteer luncheon.

Also, DH and I remembered that our anniversary is quickly approaching, and we have NO idea where to go. We always try and take a weekend away (unless it's a "big" year then we go away for a week) So, my evenings have been spent researching B&Bs, cabins, hotels etc all over the Midwest to find something to do!

Here is the list I have saved of dinosaur ideas.. maybe they will help?

PB&J-asaurus sandwiches (peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into the shape of dinosaurs using dinosaur cookie cutters
Dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets (available at the frozen food section of some of the large supermarkets)
Dinosaur Bones (pretzel sticks)
Pasta-Raptor Salad (pasta salad)
Chicken wings for the meat eaters and a vegetable tray for the plant eaters.
Bronto bites (BBQ meatballs)
Brontosaurus Burgers - call the ketchup lava, the mustard jungle paste and the relish algae
Dino Dogs
Tyrannosaurus Mex-Dip with Fossil Fries (potato chips)
Dino eggs: Hard-boil some eggs. After they cool, gently crack the shell all over, but don't remove it. Place the cracked eggs in a small bowl containing 3 cups of cool water and kool-aid mix (this is what gives the color). Then cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator overnight. On the day of the party, remove the eggshells and lo and behold, the egg looks like it has cracks all over it!
Lava Jell-O (red jell-o) and Swamp water Jell-o (green jell-o) (Tip: You can place one well-washed plastic dinosaur into the Jell-o mix before letting it set-one that's small enough to fit into a dessert bowl, but large enough not to be a choking hazard.)
Ice Age popsicles: Purchase popsicle molds where you buy the sticks separately (you can also use small paper cups in which you pour in the juice, cover with plastic wrap, poke craft wooden sticks through the plastic for popsicle handles, then when the popsicles are frozen peel of the paper). Fill the molds with any kind of juice (preferably something light colored like lemonade) and add a few dinosaur gummies or candies to each popsicle and freeze overnight.
Fruit-a-saurus salad (fruit salad)

I also really like some of the ideas on this site http://www.party-ideas-by-a-pro.com/dinosaur-party-ideas.html The food ideas are a bit more putzy than I like, but there are some really cool drink ideas!

Since it's a holiday weekend, it's a double feature movie night!

And since it's DS's choice, it's dinosaur themed. Of course.

I have to give you snaps, I'm working on planing our 1st trip and its only 4 people.... I can't image.. wow!

Great movie nights! I should try to plan some good ones...

You should! The kids are having a great time. The smartest move I made was appointing one kid each week as "helper". The other ones have no idea what movie we are watching until they walk in the kitchen.

Two more awesome movie nights! :thumbsup2 Makes me want to have some

They aren't that bad. Just take some time to throw together.

I have to give you snaps, I'm working on planing our 1st trip and its only 4 people.... I can't image.. wow!

The first trip is definitely the hardest and so overwhelming. I would have lost my mind trying to plan 14 nights for 10 people on our first trip!!

Not to much going on for the trip planning really. I HATE this part. You have to make all these fast decisions (where to stay, where to eat, when to go) so you can get everything booked, and then you wait. I'm not patient. Waiting stinks!

I did cash out Mypoints today for a $50 Rainforest Cafe gift card today. With our 99 cent kids promotion coupons for the kids reading, the $50 should cover both our Rainforest and our TRex reservations. Every penny helps!

Mulan was our theme for last night. I was super excited because it meant Chinese takeout and no cooking for me! :rotfl:

We ordered lots of little sized things so we could have a buffet. We had Arizona green tea with ginseng as a drink. Is it sad that everyone used the chopsticks for dinner (including the 7 year old) but I didn't. I'm not chopstick proficient.

Great movie nights! Once I am fully recovered, I am going to have to do these more consistently with my nieces and nephews!

Yesterday was our community yard sale, so it was a long day and I didn't put much effort into movie night. The kids didn't care. They were happy on the splurge of a new Wii game. :) Usually I don't spend more than $5-$10 on anything for movie night (food not included) so this was a big deal for them.
