Well, in researching an Aruba vacation for next year, I stumbled onto the Red Sail Sports website. They are a large sailing/watersports company on Grand Cayman (as well as Aruba). Anway, they have some very informative links, as well as information as to their status. They are not taking any reservations until AT LEAST December 1st, with some of the hotels on Grand Cayman, not being able to open for a VERY long time. My favorite Grand Cayman resort, Hyatt, part of that resort is closed until June, 2005, with some of the other resorts having no re-opening date scheduled. It will be very interesting when DCL will be able to stop there, and based on these reports, I'm guessing probably not for the rest of the year. In addition, Red Sail Sports lists itself on it's website as the on-island dive operator of DCL, so even if DCL does resume stopping in DCL, their excursions will be severely limited due to Red Sail Sports not operating until December.

Edited to add:

I found this on the cayman.org website. Grand Cayman will not be opened before November 15th!!

However, the CI government has announced that Cayman will be start to re-open for tourism on or about 15 November 2004 -- in time for US Thanksgiving vacations. Please note that, independant of immigration rules, some tourist properties and companies may not be open for quite some time to come.

Thank you very much for the updated information.

We are scheduled for the December 4th Western and my children are really looking forward to Stingray City.
