A little lost on where to dine.

I am interested in hearing how the dining plan works, too. I thought it was the $$ vouchers, but if it works like WDW dining plan, we may think about getting it. How did you get info on the dining plan? --Katie
It works on voucher/cash system so each TS is worth so much and each CS is worth so much I got my info from DL website and AAA DL book.

Not many of us choose the dining plan, so I'm not 100% how it works. Do you have your vouchers with you? Are they still vouchers for dollar amounts, or are they now for meals in general? If they are still the ones for dollar amounts, make sure that to get your money's worth by spending the full amount - they do not give change. I.E. If you use a $5.00 voucher to get a $4.00 pretzel, you will not get your $1.00 back.

I'm curious if they are still the same?

ETA: I went to Disneyland's Dining Plan website and couldn't find the answer there.

I 2nd this! I don't know ANYONE who uses the dining plan when visiting DL. Just doesn't seem to be as good a value or as worthwhile as the WDW dining plan. There are much more food options at WDW then at DL so its just easier to go "a la carte".

Plus, you won't get to use it for DTD, which has some of the best restaurants. :headache:

With that being said....we LOVE Carnation Cafe (but not for breakfast) and the Corn Dog cart on Main St, Rancho del Zocalo is also a fav of DH's but that is pretty standard American-ized Mexican food. I have no idea on if you can use the dining plan for these carts...since it's not "really" a snack but is technically a cart....You may want to look into that. Since lots of folks love the turkery legs (not me personally) and the chimichangas are good here too!

We also tend to stay far, far away from anyplace serving burgers. In our experience, the burgers just don't taste very good and are way overpriced for what they are- which is way below average. If I'm going to have a burger while on my SoCal vacation, it's going to be an In-n-Out burger!:thumbsup2

For CS I can't say enough about Red Rockets/Pizza Port. When I go with my DH or my eldest DS, we get the chicken fusilli pasta and chinese chicken salad and are stuffed. The kids really like the bread sticks too. (I still haven't had them). I like the cheese enchillades with carne asada at Rancho.
If it's included in the snacks, I'd check out the goodies inside the Golden Horseshoe. That cake is the best, and amazing ice cream goodies. Also, if it's included, the Bengal BBQ skewers are good.
I still adore Blue Bayou, though I agree with much that has recently been said about it.
Steakhouse 55 in DLH is supposed to have great food. Napa Rose is amazing. Even if you don't eat there, having drinks at bar of NR is a must for an adults trip!

i do every time i go an it is not that bad or hard to use it is very good when you know how to use it. Man am I the only one who does use it?

Yes Jade, I think you are! LOL :)

I just don't like to commit my money to food ahead of time. I know I would never eat that much. If one day we don't want to eat a lot then we save money instead of loosing it. Somedays we just have ice cream and pretzles for meals. :)

well seeing that we go to 4charcter meals it works lol but ya i think i might be the only one.

definitely stop at napa rose for a drink. they have a wonderful ourdoor fire pit with table to enjoy a drink and i think you can smoke a cigar there as well. I saw ashtrays.

for BB you can order monte cristo at dinner as well. just may not be on menu.

IF you do a CS hamburger, taste pilot is best. you can build your own burger with the condiment bar. Sorry, but the choices are not nearly as vast as at WDW. So many choices there... new orleans and carnation and storybook tellers good. zocalo we hit everytime.

have fun. we will be there a few weeks ahead.
