I am trying for airfare at the end of April and when I pick the only option for my flight out and choose the lowest option on the return flight it tells me the 2 cannot be combined. Why have it there then? Do you think the other options for the flight will become available at some time and thats why the promotional option that can't be used right now is there? Hope this makes sense to someone. Thanks.

Some fares cannot be combined. Over each fare there is a link that will tell you the rules. Or when you select the combination, click on the type of fare and it will give you complete rules.
I have no idea where you are traveling from or what your dates are, so, I really cannot say more than this. If you want to tell me where you are departing from and what your dates are, I will be happy to help further.
Usually if a promo is not available now, they will not open up again, sometimes it happens, but, usually not.

Thanks Gail. Were trying to get flights from Buffalo to Orlando from April 23-May 1. I know that some fares cannot be combined but they only have one option for the flight out so why bother with the selection on the return flight when I cannot use it. Do you think if I go ahead and book at these fares something cheaper will open up because I really want to fly SW with a non-stop flight, but I am getting a cheaper rate on AA and with 5 of us I sorta need to watch my money.

SW booking logic shows you all fares available on a flight, it does not look for match ups when you request the days so sometimes you willl have something like the internet special only available one way and you can't use it.

If the flight to Orlando is only showing the one fare something tells me they have sold out of the cheaper seats and won't have a good sale for that day. (NOTE: I do not possess a crystal ball and could be wrong, but SW normally starts out with discounted fares and all I see left for your day is FULL Fare tickets which would indicate the planes are about full.)

Thanks CarolA. I would normally come to that conclusion also but this page has been the same since SW opened up to include my time . I was watching like a hawk every day before the dates opened, but I may have missed the cheaper fares in the first few hours because I did not check until I got home for work.

I got tired of trying to get a good airfare from SW. I went with Jet Blue and got a good rate of $175.00 direct flight from Boston. I know That Jet Blue does fly out of Buffalo, you would connect in NYC first. I hope this is of some help.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. Just tried Jet blue and got a rate of $242 with a stop each way. With United Airlines I can get a rate of $213 with a non-stop flight on the way home. I was hoping to fly non-stop with SW because my kids love the corny jokes the flight attendants tell. I think I will wait for tomorrows e-mail from SW and if it brings no sales I will book somewhere else. Thanks for the help everyone

Wow, it is loaded. I doubt you will see any available seats on those dates except the full fare.
If you could go from Buffalo to Tampa a day or so early you could get flights, it would be about 214.00 per person r/t including all taxes and fees.

I know I looked into that option as well but I made the fatal error of booking a non-refundable room reservation at the Holiday inn for the Thursday night then noticed the flights to Tampa. Not to bright, live and learn. Heres hoping the morning brings a good price or united airlines here we come. Thanks for the help.
