A line cutting rant to get off my shoulders...

that being said, I always say "thank you" and will hold a door open for 6000 people, and help out anyone that possibly looks like they need it, always. this newfangled group of twenty-somethings CAN have manners, you know. ;)

It's very rarely teenagers/young adults that I see cutting in line at Disney, it's almost always adults. The one exception I've had to deal with was south american tourist teenagers (purposely didn't say Brazilian) that run rampant through the lines like no one else is there. And when posters refer to the "entitled' I always think of adults as well.

A lot of people just don't give a crap about their fellow man. They do whatever they want because whose going to stop them? Everybody's a bunch of jellyfish and for darn sure the CM's aren't going to do anythying. I just wish once when I'm the guy calling out the line cutter, there was another person there to back me up. I'm really losing heart to do it anymore because everyone else stands around like a bunch of mummy's not getting involved.

Op I would have supported you in a picosecond, in fact I would have probably beat you to the punch in telling her to get her fanny to the end of the line. ::yes::

I think it helps to have a bunch of people come together to say something to stop this sort of behavior. "It takes a village" sort of group mentality.
Unfortunately most normal people avoid confrontation , so it rarely happens.
This trip i am making a pledge to myself to ignore these people unless they directly address me.

I will close my eyes an goto my happy place.......

WAIT I AM IN MY HAPPY PLACE!!!!!!!! NOW WHAT?????

LMAO. It's my happy place too.....what is plan B? :)

Actually my plan is to stop focusing on the bad behavior of others and focus on my kids. If it directly affects my family something will be said and i will use that moment to teach my children to stand up for themselves in a polite but strong manner

Hmm, I wrote a post but now a few of the responses have me rethinking my feelings on this subject.

In any case, we try to avoid conflict at WDW but I am sure some people make that very difficult. In general, we've marveled at how many lovely people we run into while we're there and try to let our happiness and patience be infectious. :)

What confuses you? At the Magic Kingdom, while wearing our bride and groom ears, not one cast member acknowledged us the entire day. Nobody congratulated us....nothing.

Epcot was wonderful.

I also replied to somebody who said Universal was bad. The staff was out right horrible to me. So much so that I complained and got 40 fast passes, that they make you pay for those there.

I think what might have confused them was you didn't say Magic Kingdom in your first post. It looked like you were complaining about both Universal and Walt Disney World then went on to say how nice Epcot was. I had to read it twice and figured that you meant either MK or HS or AK but it was a little confusing.

Yes fortunately the normal, nice, well behaved guests you run into/meet at WDW still far outnumber the rude and unruly.

It does seem that Disney World brings out the worst in some people, of course they probably act this way or worse at home.

Not much you can do, because it is obvious with people of her thought process, she is not going to listen to reason.

We just try very hard to ignore them and hope that Karma takes care of them at some point.

I do agree with the Village mentality.

I'm sorry that happened to you, OP! Rude and inconsiderate people are always abundant at Walt Disney World. Or almost anywhere else for that matter, lol. We do our best to ignore them and only say something when necessary. I definitely would have said something in your situation.

To refer to all guests as "jellyfish"(spineless) is just wrong. Not everybody who enters WDW has confrontation/fighting on their minds. Pretty poor way of characterizing all WDW guests, including everyone on this board. :sad2:

Obviously I haven't been standing next to everyone whose ever visited WDW nor every one on this board. I'm only referring to those guests that were standing by me when I had to confront line jumpers on several occasions. Stop trying to stir the pot :stir:. Really silly logic, go have another labatts!!

You're calling guests in line around you spineless, and yet I'm stirring the pot? okie dokie. I'll move on.

Man, I just don't give a blank blank about helping you or anyone else confront line jumpers. When I'm at WDW, I'm there to spend time with my family. Line jumpers just don't bring me down. Unless they cause my kids to miss out on an experience completely, then they can have the extra 3 minutes or whatever they're saving by cutting in front of me. I mean, it is annoying, even infuriating, but I am certainly not going to stop my interactions with my children to go play Buddy Cops: The Line Cutting Police with you. Line jumpers suck. Some people suck. When I am at home I will be as vocal as I need to be, but on vacation if given the choice between confronting line jumpers or talking to my kids, I'll take talking to my kids.

If you want to confront line jumpers, that's fine, but to expect everyone else to join you is just silly.

I think I'll just accept the spineless/jellyfish label. If my children are with me, I reserve my confrontational behavior for situations where it is required to defend myself or others from physical harm. I would never argue that line cutting is acceptable, but I do not consider it my responsibility to instill manners in strangers. Nor do I consider it worth the attempt if my children are there, and the stranger's reaction is unpredictable.

I'll join you for another Labatt's. ;)

It's a sad reality that the more you try to do to curb line-cutting, the worse you're made to look.

Ok good for you, I find it pathetic to continually let people be rude, break rules, and walk all over other people who are trying the follow the rules and do the right thing. But you go ahead and just keep taking it and taking it. Sorry I can't stand around murmuring into my armpit how I don't like that linecutter. I feel like the least I can do is let that line cutter know of my discontentment. It isn't ever about the the few minutes more I might have to wait, it's a matter of principle.

So based on the OPs story you wouldn't have said anything to the linecutter or to support the OP if you were in line behind her?? :scratchin
