The following is a letter penned by Charlie Daniels of the Charlie Daniels Band, a good old American country band :) He says it as it is :) I enjoyed this and thought some of you might too.

Aloha,

An Open Letter To The Hollywood Bunch

Description: A letter from Charlie Daniels to the Hollywood Bunch

Ok let's just say for a moment you bunch of pampered, overpaid, unrealistic children had your way and the U.S.A. didn't go into Iraq. Let's say that you really get your way and we destroy all our nuclear weapons and stick daisies in our gun barrels and sit around with some white wine and cheese and pat ourselves on the back, so proud of what we've done for world peace.

Let's say that we cut the military budget to just enough to keep the National Guard on hand to help out with floods and fires. Let's say that we close down our military bases all over the world and bring the troops home, increase our foreign aid and drop all the trade sanctions against everybody.

I suppose that in your fantasy world this would create a utopian world where everybody would live in peace. After all, the great monster, the United States of America, the cause of all the world's trouble would have disbanded it's horrible military and certainly all the other countries of the world would follow suit. After all, they only arm themselves to defend their countries from the mean old U.S.A. Why you bunch of pitiful, hypocritical, idiotic, spoiled mugwumps. get your head out of the sand and smell the Trade Towers burning. Do you think that a trip to Iraq by Sean Penn did anything but encourage a wanton murderer to think that the people of the U.S.A. didn't have the nerve or the guts to fight him?

Barbara Streisand's fanatical and hateful rankings about George Bush makes about as much sense as Michael Jackson hanging a baby over a railing. You people need to get out of Hollywood once in a while and get out into the real world. You'd be surprised at the hostility you would find out here. Stop in at a truck stop and tell an overworked, long distance truck driver that you don't think Saddam Hussein is doing anything wrong. Tell a farmer with a couple of sons in the military that you think the United States has no right to defend itself. Go down to Baxley, Georgia and hold an anti-war rally and see what the folks down there think about you. You people are some of the most disgusting examples of a waste of protoplasm I've ever had the displeasure to hear about. Sean Penn, you're a traitor to the United States of America. You gave aid and comfort to the enemy. How many American lives will your little, "fact finding trip" to Iraq cost? You encouraged Saddam to think that we didn't have the stomach for war. You people protect one of the most evil men on the face of this earth and won't lift a finger to save the life of an unborn baby. Freedom of choice you say?

Well, I'm going to exercise some freedom of choice of my own. If I see any of your names on a marquee, I'm going to boycott the movie. I will completely stop going to movies if I have to. In most cases it certainly wouldn't be much of a loss.

You scoff at our military who's boots you're not even worthy to shine. They go to battle and risk their lives so ingrates like you can live in luxury. The day of reckoning is coming when you will be faced with the undeniable truth that the war against Saddam Hussein is the war on terrorism. America is in imminent danger. You're either for her or against her. There is no middle ground.

I think we all know where you stand.

What do you think?

God Bless America

Considering Charlie Daniels was of age to fight in the VietNam War and somehow didn't go, I take what he has to say with a grain of salt. I may agree with what he says, but where the he#$ was he when our boys were fighting and dying in another war?

Oh boy, another celebrity opinion.

So,
if a celebrity is against war, he/she is evil and vice-versa?

I don't even believe that Bush is pro-war, no human being apart from being a sociopath is pro-war. Bush just thinks it is necessary to go to war. Calling somebody being pro-war is IMHO a severe offense.

Bush and the politicians use their means to spread their opinion and the celebreties use their means.
I will continue listening to Charlie Daniels' Cs and I will also continue to buy Dixie Chicks-CDs. I don't care, what opinion they have, I like the music.
BTW, I'm also a big Schwarzenegger-fan, although I don't think much of his political orientation - It's a free country, here as well as in your.s
BTW, here we have a free country due to your help. We didn't forget it, but we have a different opinion in one issue right now - So what?
And finally:
The Dixie Chicks were on the biggest TV-show in Germany tonight, which has a quote of about 20-25%, meaning that about 200 million watch it, and tehy didn't utter one world about the war, neither did they in two other shows, I saw them in this week.

bwalker, thanks for the letter. I just got back from my son's basketball tourny in N.J.(they're still up there) ,and For some reason, I put in a Charlie Daniels CD for the first time in years. I'm pretty impressed that he spoke up, and said his opinion. I know it's not PC to say you're not against the war, but he did. I agree with him completely.
Everyone is allowed to have their opinions. The entertainers can have theirs, and if we disagree with them, can do what Charlie D. has chosen to do, boycott their movies. If someone like Bruce Willis states he backs our troops, others have the option to boycott his also.
I wish we didn't have to go to war, but I support our president's decision and our troops throughout this. How 'bout the protest today in N.Y. for peace? How many of these peace loving people were arrested after injuring 20 or so policeman? Just sounds like another reason for some to miss work, and if you can hurt a cop or start a riot, hey bonus!

Actually Cindiluwho, Charlie Daniels was born in 1936 and graduated HS in 1955. When the US became officially involved in the Vietnam war (I believe it was 1962), he was 26 years old (I don't know if he was married or had any children). No, he didn't join the military, but he also wasn't drafted (or dodged the draft)as far as I could find.

Nice letter by Charlie, gave me chills. I have a hard time posting quotes (puter illiterate:rolleyes: ) but as a person who is trying to avoid any stars, etc who have jammed their opinions down my throat, ie. Clooney, Streisand etc. I found the matter on the Dixie Chicks not speaking out at their last couple engagements amusing considering the fact that not only is the country music industry speaking against them but people are crushing their cds. I am surprised though that being that stupid a couple weeks ago, she isn't backing it up now. ;)

Charlie Daniels has always been a favorite of mine - now I know why. :D

Good call Charlie, hope to see you at Innsbrook After Hours again this year.

I guess the celebrities that agree with one's particular political position are the more educated and eloquent variety. The rest are just rich, spoiled, vainglorious twits with too much time on their hands.

These are my sentiments

Lyrics:

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet they remember
Just what they're fighting for

CHORUS 2
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

I think that's it.

So I guess all the people that don't agree with Charlie Daniels should start a boycott or destroy his CDs.

That would be a good song if it was factually accurate. None of the hijackers from 9/11 was Iraqi. The money used to fund that attack wasn't Iraqi. That song merely perpetuates the mistaken assumption that 9/11 and Saddam Hussein are somehow connected. That has never been proven.

I haven't forgotten a THING that happened September 11, 2001 and I find the insinuation that I have if I don't support the invasion of Iraq at this time offensive and insulting.

God Bless our armed forces and bring them home safely and soon.

Whether or not it's been proven that Saddam Hussein and 9/11 are connected , it's a chance that I'd rather not see our country take. If our intelligence says Hussein was amassing weapons of mass destruction, that's good enough for me. I'd prefer we handle it now rather than take a wait and see attitude. I believe that if Bush hadn't gone into Iraq, and another catastrophe happened here, then all the war protestors would be saying "why didn't Bush do something, instead of waiting". Again, these are MY sentiments, and that's what is SO great about the USA, the FACT that we can all voice our opinions.:D

I am glad tht you posted Charlie Daniels' letter.

I have said before that I would rather not know what actors, actresses, singers politaical views are. However, since all the Anit-Bush people apparently are shouting at the top of their lungs every time they get a chance, I am glad "one of them" is willing to stand up with a different point of view.
