I was wondering if anyone had a late ceremony and how did it go? Were your guests starving? My ceremony starts at 7:30PM and then a PRE reception at 8:30 and dinner @ 9:30.

That seems so late. Does Disney really go by that exact time. Or can things run faster? I think my ceremony should be over by 8pm.

My wedding is in MAY so it will not get dark until probably about 8 or so.. could some give me an idea of when it starts getting dark in Orlando in the summer?

I was in WDW for the college program all spring one year, and I'm pretty sure in May the sun wasn't completely set until 9ish, so I would guess sometime around then for during the summer? I was wondering the same thing about a late ceremony because I would like to have one as well, but I'm worried about photography and lighting.

The sunset for May 2007 is as follows:

May 1 - 8:00pm to May 31 - 8:18pm.

Keep in mind that "darkness" is about 30-40 minutes at most after sunset on a clear day. IMO depending on where you are (ceremony/reception) and if there is existing ambient lighting, flash photography will be used around 7:30 or 8 onwards.

Where is the ceremony and reception?

I had a 7:00pm wedding in February so it was really dark - I wanted it truly a candlelight wedding. After a full Catholic mass and drive time, we started the reception at 8:30 till 12:30. I don't remember anyone complaining about being hungry. :confused3 The invite told them that the reception was starting that late so I guess people had a snack before?!?

We had a 7:30 pm ceremony. Yes, Disney does stick to that time. While your ceremony probably won't last all that long, there is the "staged exit" for picture taking, then family pictures, then transportation time to get both your guests and you where you need to be for the pre-reception. We didn't have a problem with people being hungry though--they knew it was a late reception, so they probably had late lunches.

We had the 7:30 time slot in May also
we got some wonderful dusk pictures and the sun didn’t set until around 8:30
but it was also a full moon night...Pictures came out great

Also everyone was expecting a late night...so they had a late lunch
don’t think we served dinner until after 10...

disney kept us right on time....

Wow thanks ladies - you have been such a big help. I really appreciate your time. I was so worried I had made a mistake with chosing that time and save the dates had already went out - i began thinking.. what was I think?!

Thanks again

Jana
