How are you guys now?
I wouldn't say it's an overreaction when ice is involved.

We're still cold but much better. We're not made for ice down here. Should be in the 60s by Sunday.

I never have either. There are just so many details in AK.

Love the hidden Mickey, thanks for pointing that out! That's a shame that Rafiki's Planet Watch isn't great anymore, we used to love petting the animals up there.

And I'm right there with you, my hair is a nightmare in the humidity!! I have two trip reports on here where all I could do for the whole trip was put my hair in a side braid and cover it in hairspray

Sooooo many. I think you could sit in one place for a long time before you noticed all the details just in that area.

I really hope they do something with Rafiki's Planet Watch. It is such a let down when you get out there. The train ride is so nice but even as an adult, it's not worth the train ride. And the drawing class is nice but doesn't need to be there, it could be anywhere.

Painting with the colors of the… winter?

After the Train back to Africa, we made our way back to the front. It was getting cold. We still needed a group photo! Plus, we got to see the winter animals again and we had SO MUCH FUN WITH THEM.

One of my favorite things about Animal Kingdom is the MUSIC. There is ALWAYS music.

I know most of these are out of focus and in motion, but I don’t care. Memories with my son!

After that, it was clear we needed a pick-me-up. We had planned to call it a night early but we were having so much fun we just weren’t ready to leave AK. So we hit up Starbucks. More coffee for me, and a “sucker ball” for JP. Dad stayed outside while we hit the line. Looks like he went and got some scenic pics.

Looks like the camera wasn’t well focused. Sorry. I only note that because my parents go back and forth on the focus and it cracks me up when one has it after the other and they argue over the focus being out.

Another random one in the bunch…. Or is it?!

So I was disneybounding Pocahontas this day and pretty proud of it. And we had been having fun with our Starbucks orders. So I went ahead and had them call me Pocahontas. Once we got outside, I was excited to get a cute pic with my coffee.

BUT CRAZY OLD DAD HAD OTHER PLANS. He starts rushing us to go somewhere he wanted to go. I’m like… uhhh I really just wanted to enjoy my coffee, but dang. It’s kind of an unwritten rule that when Grumpy is annoyed and on a mission, you’re allowed to be mad about it, but no questions asked. So I’m getting MAD! Like night-before-my-wedding-when-he-snored-so-loud-i-couldn’t-sleep-then-woke-up-in-a-mood-and-made-mom-go-to-breakfast-with-him-leaving-me-alone-on-my-wedding-morning kinda mad.
He starts taking us to some part in the paths around the Tree of Life, like what the heck, Dad?!

THEN I SEE HER!!!
While we were in Starbucks, Dad was taking scenic pictures and caught Pocahontas out and about and didn’t want ME to miss her. For as “grumpy” as he is… he’s got a heart of gold.

My favorite thing Pocahontas always asks is about our journey. She asked if we had come by boat or canoe. John Paul had no idea what a canoe was, but when he said AIRPLANE she was just floored. What a mighty warrior he must be to travel on something called an AIRPLANE.
Side note: They took my coffee. Awesome idea to not allow coffee near a costumed character, but I felt so bad that I didn’t know that ahead of time. DUH!

POWER POSE!

We took a walk about the tree of life and man, is it GORGEOUS. We were trying to find our way back to the front of the park. The sun was setting and it was getting COLD… and I did not have a real jacket this day.

We made it back to the front. Somehow. I bought one of my now favorite sweatshirts. We got warm and cozy and we had two more places we HAD to go before we left.
1- DINOLAND to win a bunch of crap we don’t need
2- Pandora for dinner. That was the plan, at least.
We just couldn’t leave. Early morning or not. WE WERE HAVING WAY TOO MUCH FUN!

Plus, we got to see the winter animals again and we had SO MUCH FUN WITH THEM.

That's so cool! I wonder how difficult it is to walk with that on... or how heavy that head is. I suspect some kind of support system.

Huh. I hadn't thought of that, but of course it makes sense.

Also makes me wonder just who it happened to that made them realize it wasn't a good idea to bring drinks to a character meet.

It was our Magic Bands for May. I guess if you paying for them they don't make you wait until 30 days out anymore.

How exciting! And cute! We haven't ordered for April yet because we still don't know if we can go. ALlie is the lead in her HS Musical and she's waiting to hear if they have practice that week.

RIGHT?! Honestly, Gia over thinks things so much that I usually don't tell her things ahead of time, and just ask her to trust me. So I do this a lot like my Dad does. The other night Mom was nagging him that he was making us late to dinner with her sister. We ended up NOT being late AND he dropped us off at the door and went to park alone somewhere downtown in the freezing cold, and it was starting to rain. He's a man of many surprises.

Loved every word and photo of this update. But, yep, I'd kinda get a bit of cranky pants on if someone messed with "Coffee Time". I do love to walk with one, but also love to just sit and savor. Just kinda need that as a Me Time Out.

I loved the latest update and forgot to comment. Your dad is brilliant and I love that he spotted Pocahontas for you. I did laugh at your description of your wedding morning and the madness I got lost the morning of my wedding as my mum insisted we went to her hairdressers in lisburn ( a town I didn’t overly know at the time) and I took a wrong turn heading back home so found myself driving country roads clueless for half an hour with my closest friend who was also one of my bridesmaids. This was in 1988 so no mobile phones or satnav. In the end we decided the only way was up as the Rock ( after Saint Peter not a band ) Chapel is on a mountain and that got us we needed to be. I knew how to find home from the chapel but boy was it a crazy start to the day! Think wedding days often have crazy starts due to all the emotions flying around but I remember absolutely loving your wedding report. You all looked absolutely stunningly beautiful!

Coffee can be a necessity, but it can also be an experience. And that's what I enjoy about it, sometimes. Like, I need it to start my work day, but on the weekends, I just enjoy the smell of it, the stillness of the morning (because the kids know no mommy until after her coffee). It's just happy.

It's like we can't miss it, just like Pick a pearl. It's one of our things. We used to take all our winnings and would toss them on top of empty strollers outside the nemo show. A nice little surprise for someone else, we still got to play and have fun, and we don't have to find out how to fit them in the suitcases on the way home.

It's been almost 6 years and I don't know if I can laugh about it yet. I was so mad. I remember thinking I was going to walk down the aisle with him and just want to shred his face off, but instead we talked about the weather and what a big crying baby my husband was. LOL

I LOVE THIS! Those make for the funniest stories and best memories. I tried not to get too stressed when we got married. I think a part of me knew that whatever did or did not go according to plan was going to make for a good memory. Now, when we had the car loaded up and we were all still waiting for my sister to finish her makeup, I did finally yell at her LOL.

I remember absolutely loving your wedding report. You all looked absolutely stunningly beautiful!
