A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream!

Great Splash Mountain photos; glad you got the camera covered. Claire looks thrilled getting all wet. And :woohoo: for only six weeks. We still have 80 days.

She loves to get wet. I guess kids are weird that way! :rotfl:
I still have a full summer schedule, so I am not getting too overly excited yet. Well I'm excited, but not like in the winter when I just can't wait for warm weather. I just know I have a lot of fun things to do yet before then and I don't want to wish the summer and good weather away.

How cute! Love the water drops all over her face! Looks like she really liked it. It's bad when a little kid is braver than I am!

She loved it. I don't have a problem with this drop. It's really not that bad compared to stuff I have rode before. Kind of a baby drop. LOL!
Claire loves to get wet.

Days of reading and I am finally caught up! Loving your TR. Awesome pics.

Thanks for reading along! I know I am long winded, but I try to also provide some details that I often wonder about. It was a really fun cruise. I know I read one of your TR's in the past and it was awesome!

We never go on the mountains so loved seeing all the pics of Splash

myasma.... We did Disney in '08 and Carnival last year. Hands down I'd do Disney over Carvnival. DS said the same thing....Disney SO much better.

Just wish we could afford the Disney line more often :rolleyes1 ....but it is totally worth the extra $$ :thumbsup2

Thanks. Now that Claire is getting bigger we can, though she still is not sure about rollarcoasters yet.

I am actually in Florida now. We've been at Dad's since LATE Fri nite. Thurs nite we're heading to my BIL's in New Smyrna Beach (going to see shuttle liftoff is still a 'go' from what i understand). Sunday we leave on the cruise. About time...booked it in Dec!

Claire looked really cute at her recital :)

Love the SM pics, "Everybody's got a laughing place, laughing place..."

Yay for being 6 weeks away from Disney, so exciting :teeth:

OK. I thought you had said last week that your leaving soon, but then I looked at your ticker and it still had more time....that makes sense. Tell Dad I say hi! LOL
I would love to see the shuttle lift off. That would be so neat.

Thanks. We have that song on a CD and we love listening ot it.

I was a few pages behind - I barely had time to get on the boards at all over the holiday weekend!

Love Claire's dance pictures, so cute!

The pictures from Splash were fabulous, I've been way too nervous to have my camera out on that ride in the past, but with the new waterproof one I may try and take some pictures next time :thumbsup2

I also have to add that I will be at Disney NEXT month!!! Less than 6 weeks now!

Yippee!! :yay:

We exited and stopped to look at our picture. I tried to take the redneck version ,but a strong shadow was on each and everyone I took. Here’s about the best of them….and you can see, I am totally ducked down.

WE headed off to Pirates. Claire was a little leery about it. She has ridden it every trip, but the last 3 she acts like it might be scary. The line was kind of long. We usually go when it’s practically walk on. I think we waited about 20 minutes.
We saw Pirate Goofy at the entrance and I asked Claire if she wanted to see him first, but she said no.

We got in line and guess what….MORE line huggers. This group was a Mom and several preteen girls. The one girl was really close. So much so, that her hair was CONSTANTLY touching me. ICK! She would turn to talk to her family, and it would brush against my shoulders. I tried my best to avoid it, but she would just get closer then.

The girls behind us were talking non stop. I kind of listened a bit here and there…it was hard not to when they were so close. Then the one girl….the one whose hair had become my new best friend mentioned that she thought it was horrible how all these 5 year old looking kids were in strollers. Now for those who know me, you know that I couldn’t let that comment go. I do agree it is each family’s decision, but it also irks me when people cut those of us who use them down.
So I turned around…blew the hair out of my mouth…OK, might be exaggerating there. LOL… and said to the girl…. My Daughter is 6 and we have our stroller parked outside waiting for us. We can go longer days if she has one and we plan to stay till at least 2 AM tonight. I also told her that we don’t normally use it at home, but for trips like this, it was very helpful.
Her Mom piped up them. She said that her DD would be eating her words when she had children. LOL! And she went on to tell her that she was a stroller child as well and they had used the stroller with her for many years on trips like this as well.

We soon we close enough to see the boats.

I think we were in the first row again. We seem to have a lot of luck getting front rows this day.

Ahhhh, love the Jack picture at the end!

Can you tell me what settings you use on your camera on these dark rides? Mine always come out so blurry!

My iso was at 3200. I had on my 50mm lens. My fstop was 2.5, though I should've put it at 1.8. Not sure why I didn't check it. and shutter speed was 1/40.

Good for you giving "hair girl" a talking to about strollers. It's up to us, as parents, to decide when to stop taking a stroller....not a hair tossing close walker.

Great pictures from Pirates too! You did a great did on that and Splash! I never get good pictures on Pirates. Never! :confused3

You cracked me up with the hair girl! You must have looked very friendly or smelled really good since everyone wanted to get so close to you! Imagine having to put up with that mess in July! UGH! I can't stand to be touched by sweaty person! :snooty:

And I agree on the stroller. We used one when DD was 4 and 5. We are taking it with us this time, but we are going to try not to use it. She is 7 now and I think she can handle it. We'll see. Although, I have no problems pulling that thing out if I have to and I don't care what anyone thinks! I'd rather have to push a stroller around than have a tired, whiny child ruin a very expensive vacation for everyone.

How I hate the stroller bashing people.

My son just turned five in April, but he is HUGE. Although of average weight, he is off the charts for height and is nearly as tall as his 10 year old sister. Though, to be fair, she's growth delayed by two years so is the size of an 8 year old. I got one gigantically tall child and one teeny tiny child. Go figure.

DS is also on the autism spectrum. He doesn't like to hold hands and has a heart-stopping tendency of running away from us, especially in crowded places. I keep a personal alarm buttoned in his pocket so that if he runs, I can hit a button I have on my end to set off the alarm so I can find him in the crowd. Yes, it's that bad.

Keeping him in the stroller is the only way to make sure he is safe. He is also just too young to walk on his feet all day for hours. Not to mention it would take us forever to get from place A to place B.

I wish people would take a moment to consider that they may not have all the facts before they start being judgmental. I see people giving us looks all the time. They think my son older than he is because of his appearance and wonder why I am "babying" him. Not to mention the stares we get when we use the handicap entrance on occasion because, after all, he looks "normal".

It's the only part about going away on vacation that I dread.:sad2:

I don't think I was smelling too good. It was hot and I had already waited in line for Splash for 40 minutes. So unless sweat smells good, that wan't the reason! :lmao:
We didn't take the stroller on the cruise. I knew we would be fine there, but for the parks, I knew the walking and long days could be hard on all of us. My Dad seriously says he wants a scooter. He has no reason to get one, but he stil lsays he wants one. :rotfl2:
I agree too, We pay a lot of our vacations. now I'm not going to be tha parent that says like it because we paid a lot, but I do want to try and get the most I can out of the money we spent...and for us that is trying to stay longer in the parks, and not having too many meltdowns.

You tell them, Lisa.

Great update, Jen, and great pics of POTC.

:woohoo:

My nephew is Autistic. He's extremely tall for his age too, though he is almost 14 now. He can't talk at all.. only sounds. He has silly sounding words that mean certain things, but a regular person would have no clue...like poo nah nah is ...horse. :confused3 Sometimes he takes off though too and when you hollar for him, he stays quiet. He thinks he's funny, but it's not, as you know.

Omg! That girl! Good for you for putting her in her place:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :cool1:

Love the Splash Mountain photos! It is such a fun ride with great theming! Not a big fan of Pirates but I always go on it anyway lol. I HATE hoverers! People need to recognize the personal space factor! As for the stroller issue. Like you said it is a personal thing. We went 10 years ago with a 7 and 8 year old, and they both were in the stroller, and we were happy to have it to pile our stuff in so we didn't have to carry it lol. Their feet hurt so bad they couldn't keep up, so it helped a lot.

I'm begining to wonder how my GDs will do in September. We won't have a stroller with us. The girls are 5 & 8 & walk all of the time. They have not used a stroller in some time.
