Well, yesterday I watched for the very first time our travel trailer heading down the road. I'd never seen that sight since I've always been the one pulling it. You see, we just sold our camper. I put it on craigslist on Tuesday and by Friday, we had a deposit.

It really wasn't too tough of a decision. We didn't use it at all last summer. This past January trip to the Fort was the first in a year and a half. As some of you know, I'm a firefighter and have a landscape business so summer's are getting busier and busier each year. Well, this year, we're planning on building a house. If we didn't get to go anywhere last summer, how the heck will we go anywhere this year in additon to building a new home?

So, the Puma now lives with a young family with two sons (7 and 5) who love Disneyworld and spending quality family time together. That made it seem a little easier knowing where it was going and what it would offer them. They're even flying down to Disney next weekend for a few days and are going to check out the Fort for future trips. I told them they'd be sold once they saw it.

So, I'll probably be here on the DIS quite a bit less than before. I'll check in from time to time to see what's going on with everyone.

But we've already been saying. Once this house stuff is done and we get settled in, our first purchase will be a new TT. Next year's Raleigh RV show is going to be a blast!

Take care everyone!:thumbsup2

Sorry you have to give up the camping for a while, but you will be enjoying the new house, and come back to camping when the time is right. Everyone was wondering where you been. Don't be a stranger. you still have the camping & Fort spirit. good luck...

Well, it is sad, but just remember there is always a tent or the cabins if you get the urge to hit the fort before you can get a new camper. I'm sure that decision has weighed on many minds. Keep it or let it go. With the price of gas and the economy the way it is, I'm sure it happens more than you think. Good luck and don't forget us here on the DIS. :goodvibes

That family is going to have so much fun! They're very lucky to have a great new way to travel. My kids are 7 and almost 5 and they would love to have a camper like that.

Good luck with the new house, that must be very exciting. You have a lot to look forward to. :yay:

You'll be back at it soon. Once bitten by the camping bug, it never goes away. Best of luck - we'll keep a light on for ya.

I am staying in the cabins from april 14 - 20 :goodvibes .....i have stayed there before and they are awsome with eveything you need aswell as you get to take the feryy over to the magic kingdom...kids think thats special....lolol
we stay at the home awayfrom home because like most we ECONOMIZE the money ....we eat in the park 1x day and eat in cabin other...
only thing ask for a cabin near the lake or near the bus stops.....;)

:cool1:

I'm sure you'll be back Jamie, most likely with a camper that has everythinmg the last one didn't. I remember trading in my Tailgator. After taking everything from it to the new camper I started thinking about all the FW trips, the races and other memories. Sometimes I'd like to have that ol 21 footer back.

I worked all day yesterday getting the 5'er ready for next Sunday. Fixing to go get new batteries for the detectors. Just like your house you gotta change them too. Good luck with the house.

Good luck with the house. I hope that we don't get to miss you for very long. My guess is that RV show will have a sale and a new one will be in your driveway. I don't know that I could stand not having some sort of camping equipment in my driveway. Best of luck to your family.

Happy Easter.

Best of luck with the new house, and hurry back.

Hope you get some free time to take a long weekend down at the Fort, either in the cabins or a rental trailer.

Been wondering what happened to you. Sorry you had to get rid of your TT. Sure you wont go long with out one.

Sounds like you're making a wise decision :) Good luck on the new house, and good luck at the next RV convention!

Like you said, at least it's going to a good family that you know will use it and enjoy it hopefully as much as you did.

Yeah.... it's a very sad day when you see that camper go home with someone else. Fortunately, you were able to sell it quickly.

We did the same thing in 1987 - bought a new house with deed restrictions that didn't allow us to keep any kind of camping equip stored on property. We had a 21' Coleman TT that I loved - and only got to use about 4-5 times before we sold it. (Boo-Hoo).

Once things settle down for you, you'll be back at the camping game!!!

Congrats on building a new home!! It's a nerve-wracking experience, but well worth it in the long run.

Deb

We were at the Fort in Jan. ,,same time as you were,,saw you around the campground many times in your truck .If we had known you were a Dis'er we would have run you down a introduced ourselves .Come back when you can ,,,Hey , I know a good DRYWALL MAN !!

Well, at least you are one of the 'elite' members of the team with your place immortalized at Colson's Crossing, and on the porch. Hope things go well with the house. Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks to all for the nice comments. I'm absolutely sure we'll be back. Heck, we even bought APs this time. But I guess we'll have to stay in a resort for a while.

I'll probably browse through here from time to time. And our goal is to definitely have everything in order by next year. If so, a TT will be tops on our list.

If anyone ever sees a Puma down there with a red Tahoe pulling it, take a pic for us. :)
