A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/12) New Thread Begun on TR Board!

Kathy-what about a string backpack/backsack? it'd be out of your lanyard's way, but comfortable.

I'm not sure if the "string" bags would hold a lot (?) I definitely like the sling/one shoulder style, though.

Truth is, I really should just bite the bullet and get a locker. ::yes:: Then I wouldn't need such a big bag....

Sorry about the bag issues. We leave in 12 days and I have no clue what bag I am going to use- if that makes you feel better!

 You're kidding?!?

Kathy

Just wanted to add in my two cents about the bag issue. I've used the Bagallinni messenger for my past couple of trips. You do not have to take it off on most rides. I swing it around the front of my body when we get on a ride. The only rides I take it off for are the roller coasters!

With all the stuff you need to carry around Kathy- I would rent a locker I think. You don't want your back hurting OR getting too sweaty walking around with a large bag.

oNCE AGain, I am here to offer :goodvibes support without any real suggestions ;)
I ended up carrying only my park pass, a tiny sanitizer bottle & cherry carmex in the tube w/ spf 15

I had major Vera Bradley bag envy to the point where it could have been a drinking game :rotfl2: "Another VB that I want! Gimme a shot!"

Well, two things kept me from doing much of that:

First, you prolly don't overpack yours like I do, and,

Second, you are not as plump as I am, so there's a lot more room between you and the lap bar!! :rolleyes1

Oh, rub it in, why don't ya?! :rotfl:

Now, that Vera Bradley Hipster sounds perfect for you!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
I'm sure you'll find the perfect bag for YOU and YOUR trip! :goodvibes

I hope so.
From your lips to the Bag Fairy's ears...

I can't beleive that I just read this from the begining! Wanted to put my 2 cents in on a couple things. Congrats on your reservations, I have never stayed at any DVC but AKL is awesome! You are going to love it. Next, let the girls go off for a couple hours on their own, they are now teenagers and WDW would be a great place for them to start to spread their wings. Lastly I thought about giving you some bag advice but I either carry just a camera case or as extremely small bag, so that doesn't seem feasable for you. Enjoy your trip, I will be there at the same time. Thanks for all the talk of MNSSHP on Nov. 1st, now I might have to go(unless I can get dinner at V&A that night)

Have you looked at the Overland Donner? It's pretty big, but not as big as the one you got. (http://www.ebags.com/overland_equipment/donner_shoulder_bag/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=109695)

I looked at it in REI, and decided it was too big for me to use in the parks. But it does have the water bottle holders on the outsides, and I thought the main pockets were pretty big. You might need to get creative with your packing, but it could be done. For example, I've found rolling things creates more room in my bag (I roll my ponchos and secure with rubber band). You could try rolling Billys clothes.

About the strap, I have a couple of smaller Overland bags and the straps aren't padded, but I still find them comfortable (they are made of a nice soft material, and don't seem to dig in like straps on other bags).

ETA: I've seen the Donner for better prices than that, but that was the first link I saw to post.

Well, I've decided to push on and look for another park bag...

I went back to the e-bags site (thanks, winnapooh, for the handy link) to look at the OE Donner Bag. Nice size but, again, no padding on the shoulder. Plus, I was thinking that the flap closure might be a bit inconvenient as well... :confused3

While I was there, I decided to post a review of the Carmel Bag. After I entered it... surprise!! A thank-you-for-your-review coupon of 20% off next purchase!! :woohoo:

After a bit of looking around, I decided on this number:

You silly silly woman...have you not looked at my pictures on my TRs. I'm no skinny Minnie! I have a ton of stuff in there- don't forget I carry three lenses for my camera plus all my park junk! I just suck the gut in so that it all fits :lmao:

Looking good so far!!!

. It just wasn't that convenient for Disney, because every time I wanted to get something out - I had to take it off.

wanted to chime in on the back-sack....I have a VB one, and I love the bag, used it for 2 Diz trips now, but I agree the on off was starting to become an issue, I like the zip pocket right in the back, where I kept our passes and my cell and could acess w/out taking off....but I may need a new bag for 010

I need to join "overplanners anonymous" :rolleyes1:eek::lmao:

so do I...:lmao:

Hmm. I think the perfect park bag search is still ON!!

Kathy

sorry the 1st bag didn't quite work out....but hey you did get a good deal and it matches your wall color....;)

The new bag looks nice too...but what's w/ the stiff model?

Can't wait to see is and the dry run!

Speaking of renting a locker....what stuff on your master list can you put in the locker? that if an emergency arises you can go back and get the stuff at the front of the park?

Plus another packing thought does Ed have a list? What's in his bag....maybe you guys need to divide and conquer what is carried in the parks. JAT

Scrappie

:magnify: The Bag Hunt Continues...

Jordan, you were no help at all.

;)

Ed tells me he cannot believe that we're having such a long discussion about a bag. Then he added, "You didn't ask me if I wanted a new bag!"

Kathy

ED! I am right there with you brother.

and Kathy I am right here to be no help anytime you need me to....:)

how funny!! That Ed wants a bag!

Poor guy...

I just wonder one thing...and maybe it is just me being suspicious of everyone at a theme park...but will you use those outside pockets at the park? I would want the storage, but I would want them to close in case I take the bag off...I would not want to lose my camera or anything? But the bag looks great and I love the color!

Hi Kimberly! Welcome to my report!

Grrr! Please don't remind me about that crazy On-Again-Off-Again-On-Again November 1st MNSSHP!! :headache:

Because of all the confusion, we're going on the busiest night now!!! :crowded: (Oh well, that's one more reason to use Tour Guide Mike!)

Too bad Disney won't let me exchange our 10/31 tickets for 11/1. It really doesn't sound like it would be such a big deal this far in advance.... :confused3

Ooooh, V&A! Fancy-Schmancy!!

Kathy

Oh, if I must!! ;)

Thank you, Scrappie, that just proves my point!! :lmao: I just know that if I leave something behind, Murphy's Law decrees that I'll be sure to need it that day!!!

...And, trust me, I do have Ed carry a lot of stuff... that's why he was joking about needing a bigger bag for himself!!

Kathy

Good point. One of them has a zipper close, so that seems secure. (I would keep my wallet inside the main compartment, of course.) The other pocket with magnetic close would still be good for things like tissues or wet-wipes... stuff that is easily expendable.

Again, its so hard to tell from pictures... I'll have to get it in my hot little hands before I can really judge...
