A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/12) New Thread Begun on TR Board!

I really enjoyed seeing people dressed up as a theme! Too cute! :goodvibes

Matching shirts are so cool (and so much more comfortable!) But I suppose we will be dressing up a bit more!

I think Tricia and her cousin want to "match"...but they don't want the pirate theme (so far). Billy is set on being pirates with Daddy, and that I should be a queen.

I guess I will just have to be the Pirate Queen!! :rotfl:

Do I have what it takes to be E-V-I-L??

Tricia and Catie have been texting each other over the past hour...

(Whatever happened to talking on the phone??)

Anyway, you'd never know it was :shamrock: March... the two have been discussing possible Halloween Costumes for MNSSHP!! :confused3

And I'll have you know that I had absolutely nothing to do with it! I've hardly mentioned the trip at all... perhaps a few comments to Ed about my impending call to make our resort reservation on Tuesday... that's it!

(Of course, once Tricia told me what she and her cousin were discussing.... well, she started it!!) I may have been persuaded to talk about our plans just a teeny bit more! :rolleyes1

So, they started out thinking they would dress up as Eighties' mall rats..... the big hair...the flourescent-colored clothes...the rubber bracelets...you remember, right?? (!)

Well, now my DNiece is suggesting that they go as something more Disney-related!! She thought, perhaps they might want to be Cinderella's evil stepsisters.

"But, then we would have to have Cinderella in order for it to work," moaned Tricia. That's when I suggested that I could dress as the stepmother...

Tricia still looks doubtful....I don't think she likes the idea of her mother being a part of "their" costume theme, but she text the idea to her cousin, anyway.

Now, the question is.... could I make Lady Tremaine look enough like a queen to please Billy??

Didn't she wear some kind of a tiara when they all went to the Ball?? :scratchin

I don't think he'd like that hair at all, though....

I think the idea is cool, myself*
*I'm resisting the urge to make a snarky comment ending in "what 80's mall rat stuff?" :rotfl::rotfl:

I love the idea! What costume do you think your husband would wear?

I keep contemplating costume ideas and I love the way some families pick a particular movie as inspiration. I think it would be fun to be Cruella and have my kids be Dalmations. But I don't know who DH would be. :confused3

What about Rodger, Pongo's owner?? He wrote the song, Cruella Deville, right? Sweater and a pipe, what could be easier?! :thumbsup2

Billy and his Daddy are definitely going as pirate:pirate:

Kathy

I think I have my family talked into Peter Pan characters!

My son will be Captain Hook, one girl will be Tinkerbell, the other a crocodile (her choice! :thumbsup2:rotfl: ) I'm going to be Wendy, and my husband is reluctantly participating as Peter Pan :rotfl: I promised he could just wear the shirt and hat - no tights :rotfl2::thumbsup2 He's a good guy... :lovestruc

I think the evil stepsisters and Lady Tremaine would be great costumes for you and the girls. Maybe you can skip the wig :confused3 but not sure if that would look right?? Hey :rolleyes1I used to be and 80's Mallrat and I wore big hair and rubber bracelets too .

Well... I really can't say that I was a mall rat back then...I had already started college in '81, but I definitely had the hair and those Madonna bracelets... you would wear, like, ten of them on each wrist!!! :rotfl:

It felt like I went through a can of hairpray every week!!

Texting Tid-Bits...

So, as of bedtime.....

Catie likes the Evil Stepsisters idea, but Tricia doesn't want to wear a long dress on the rides....

Tricia wanted to stick with the 80's idea, but Catie said she thought it wasn't Disney enough....

Tricia doesn't want to look like everyone else. "Mom, I want us to be unique!"

I told her that so long as their costumes were age-appropriate, I did not mind what they decided and whether we all "matched" or not.

Then she thought it might be cool, er, "random" if all the girls dressed as flappers and the two boys were gangsters.... I had to point out that Billy was firmly decided upon being a pirate and not likely to change his mind.

Tricia is now thinking the girls should go as Wilma and Betty from the Flintstones!

:hyper2: They're going to change their minds a thousand times before the final decision is made!

The boys are so easy..... I'll probably stick with them and be their Pirate Queen!!

 I can't believe I've got another seven months of this!!!!! :rotfl2:

Kathy

The joy of having a teenager -- you know they are going to change their minds daily from now until they have to make a decision! :lmao:

ok...

what is a mall rat?

Mall Rat = A girl with big hair who hung out at the mall a lot.

I will have to dig out some old pix of myself and scan them! I did have big hair once...

 I don't know any of these girls... but I'll bet they were MALL RATS!!
