OMG, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for a Girls only trip to come true...that's not a bad trade off...WDW for LV.

Of course, we'd have to find you a better airfare. we could share rooms to keep the cost way down too. Yep, I'm just full of great ideas. ::yes::

Where did you grow up and what nunnery was nearby?

Soooo....the reason I know about nuns....well.....I was one. Yep. Me. A nun..a long, long time ago. People always think that means I am an ultra conservative, but many nuns are just the opposite - after all, it's a radical choice of lifestyle to enter a convent. I was cloistered, in a monastery. A Poor Clare - full habit, no talking (most of the cloistered nuns I know have a great sense of humor and love to talk). I did the most laughing as a nun...Here's a great ad to give you an idea of my former way of life - it is really worth reading!

Cloistered nuns tend to more laid back than active ones..and it depends on the Community too.

If anyone wants to know what is it really like behind those walls, just ask away. I do tell convent secrets.:thumbsup2

No way!!! WOW. :thumbsup2 What an amazing fact - thank you for sharing. What was your sisterhood name? My daddy was taught school by nuns. I wasn't though. Hrm, I can't remember the name of the nunnery offhand. I will have to go search it. It's French, I know that much. Our parish was right by it. You sure couldn't miss it - looks just like an igloo! What happened was the French community shared their church with the English speaking folks and services were getting extremely crowded. So, the English folks decided to build their own. Well, some psychedelic architect decided to build a strange looking church. I kid you not, it's white and gray and looks just like an igloo or a golf ball. I was so mad when they built it. :( I love the cathedral parishes. Instead, I got to sit in a golf ball with crappy acoustics.

I must find you a picture... you won't believe your eyes!! :3dglasses

Hi!
You all were talkative last night! We had a great time with our Niece...She just left. The kids had fun getting out all of their old baby toys for her and pulling her around in the wagon. Unfortunately, it is raining today, so we couldn't go for a walk and have a picnic in the park like we had planned, but it was still a nice time. This was a "trial run"..was the first time she has slept anywhere but her own crib. We are keeping her for 2 nights in August while they go to a wedding.

Ohh, so many of the churches, especially Catholic, built in the last 30 yrs are soooo ugly!! Nothing pretty and welcoming..no statues, no candle...yuck. Do post a photo, if you can find it.

I hate to say it, but French and French Canadian nuns have a reputation for being very strict...of course, it's different in a cloister. We're much more relaxed. i don't mean lax (sp), but not uptight.:upsidedow

My name was Sr. Maria Chiara. Very Italian...St. Clare was the first Poor Clare...founded in Assisi by St. Francis. sigh... San Damiano, the first Poor Clare Monastery...I've been to Assisi twice and what an incredible experience.

Do check out the link...it will make you laugh! I promise!! ::yes::

Aw, I'm glad you had a wonderful time with the l'il punkin. :cutie: It's raining here today as well. As a matter of fact, the 10 day forecast is ALL rain. :sad2: I'm still in my jammies. :scared1:

Yeah...It's rained pretty much every day here. I'm hoping next weekend is nice....my In-laws are planning to take the Kids to Hershey Park, and DH and I are going away for the weekend. Although, my FIL was just diagnosed with bladder cancer:sad1:, so I'm not sure if that will happen now anyway.

What a beautiful name you had. I love Maria. Just love it. I will check out your link... as soon as I download Adobe. :lmao: Thought it was on this new computer, but apparently not since I can't open your link! French Canadian nuns, strict? Oh, ya. You've got that right! We used to call them old biddies. ;) They were mean. Dad told me they used to hit them with rulers and straps. :sad2: I searched for the convent that I lived by and they don't have a website. :confused3 The convent is called Les Filles de Jésus, which translates to The Daughters of Jesus. It's located in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Here's a link to the church. Bet you can't guess which one is mine. :rotfl2:

Rain, rain go away! Is it cold too?

Do you have "deadly cloud to ground lightening" with that rain? We rarely had lightening in Boston.

NC storms are terrifying and there is a near constant scroll at the bottom of the TV screen with warnings about the lightening and to move to the "most interior room of your home". :scared1:

Jammies sounds perfect for a rainy day...yup...jammies, computer..and...how about buttered popcorn?? popcorn::

Oh, Piglets Mommy, I am so sorry about your FIL..how sad. Can this type of cancer be treated and cured?

Maybe you'll still have your getaway...fingers crossed.

Why, thank you! :flower3: I like Maria too...my gradbaby is Sophia Maria...nope, I'm not Italian, but she's about 2/3 Italian.

I tried to copy the page, but could't figure out to as it wouldn't seem to let me. :(

Yeah, didn't want to say mean, but's the pefect adjective...off to see your church. :)

ETA: OMG...that church is worse than I imagined it. HORRIBLE!!!!

Oh gosh, I am so sorry about your FIL. :( I hope he beats the cancer. That is the one word I dislike the most. :sad2: Hugs to you all.

Thanks!!!
He is really scared and down about it, but will have surgery in a couple of weeks...he just got a clean bill of health a month ago from the Prostate Cancer he had.... He had a Heart Transplant almost 9 years ago, so has had 8 wonderful years we never thought he would have. They think that maybe the Anti-rejection drugs are causing the tumors.
My DH and DS are taking him fishing on Monday for Fathers day (and his B-day, which is Tues), and he is really excited about taking the kids to Hershey next weekend...that being said, if they schedule the surgery sooner, he will go in kicking and screaming.

Too funny. Hubby and I are sitting on the couch, in jammies, each with a laptop, drinking coffee. :rotfl: I just told him that tonight was popcorn night. I want a GIGNORMOUS bowl drenched in butter. That's after I eat muh grilled cheese and onion sammiches. :teeth:

No thunder and lightening here. Ack! You wouldn't be talking to me right now, that's for sure. I'd be under the bed so fast with my big ol' but sticking out shaking right along with the dog. :rotfl2: :lmao: Childhood fear of mine. Bigtime. :(

My daughter's name is Cassidie Marie. I just thought that Marie went better than Maria. princess:

Ok...what is it with us and Adobe today???

I was sure I had it on here, but I can't open Christine's link either.:confused3

When I get my lazy butt off the couch later, I'll go check it out on my desktop!

:lmao: :rotfl2: Toldya! I refused to get married there. Matter of fact, I really rebelled when I got married ... :rolleyes1

MMM...Popcorn...extra butter....Yummmm

Cassidy Marie is a pretty name.
We liked Maria too, but wound up picking Martina Rae.

http://www.antigonishdiocese.com/LesFilles.html Look what I found! Thought I recognized the title...they had a school in Waltham, MA - a suburb of Boston. I actually lived in Cambridge, directly between Harvard & MIT...I should be brilliant by osmosis. :rotfl2:

Too funny! I was going to post you that link, but I thought, nah, she doesn't want to read that. LOL :rotfl:

I wish I could find a picture of it for you. It's huge. It's a red brick building, probably five or six stories high and is in a U-shape. Very plain, other than that.

Thank you!
