A great big pickle...sigh.

Aww.... ....awww....should've known a entire box of kleenex should be kept close at hand for this story...

One hears about families like this, with horrible poverty and mothers who must make the some of the most difficult decisons of thier lives...but to know they connected and there was no anger resentment....well...where's the tissue...bless their heart...bless their hearts!!!

:offtopic: I think I am off my rocker! My kids have been thinking about Disneyland a lot lately. Last night they were looking at the rides on the website... all the ones we don't have. So now I am thinking of going to DL next year instead of WDW. It will have been 2 years since our last vacation by the time we could go, and I am worried I will be disappointed and wishing I were in WDW. Have any of you been to DL?

Funny thing. I have not been to DL, BUT it does tie into my airline ticket pickle. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Aww, now ya'll went and made me feel bad. :guilty: Maybe I'll write another chapter this evening to make up for it.

Maybe.

Promises, promises!

karibritt01, we've never been to DL. DH and I talked about going there last year for our 25th but we just couldn't imagine being anywhere but the World.

Sheesh, y'all have been chatter bugs while I was out this morning!

So disappointing - we went to my absolutely most dreaded stores: Walmart & K Mart to look for a toy for Sophia. Little Tyke used to make them (I had one for about 15 yrs, the things never wear out, so why did I donate it??)...anyway...it's that heavy plastic (nothing is BPA free like that), it's round, has a hole to climb through on either side, one step on the outside on one side and a teeny slide on the other (about 12/18 inc).

It is absolutely perfect for a crawling baby all the way up to 4/5 yrs....as little munchkins they crawl through the holes, learn to do the step, learn to go down the slide (head first until sturdy toddlers, but it's so short it's safe) and then as they get older, they love to cover it with blankets and make a tend. Sooo cool!!!

Well, don't think anyone makes 'em these days. Slides are too tall (2/3 ft) and steep, the things have doors (not safe for little fingers) and the holes are too high for a toddler to climb through.

We've been to Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and L Mart and I've looked on line (these are considered outdoor play toys, but I only used it indoors). Don't know where else to look..and here in the tiny metropolis there's not much. It'd be an hour drive to Raleigh/Durham which we might not find it anyway.

What to do???? :confused3

Have you looked for one on Ebay, Craigs List, or your local resale shops? Did you google it?

OMGosh!!! DL is my absolute favorite! It's the original!!! It's where Walt's dream came true, it's where Walt walked...it's quaint and charming..the bldgs are a smaller scale than WDW and makes one feel you're inside a dollhouse. Of course, I'm talking about the MK, b/c MK is Disney to me.

Now, I first went to DL at age 8, then didn't return until my 30's with my children...but we would go to WDW one summer then DL the next (with a long weekend at WDW in the winter).

True, some who have only been to WDW may not like it - it is very different...there's no sense of being immersed in the magic b/c the magic is surrounded by a real city and all that comes with it....but inside the MK itself...sigh...well, there's nothing like it/ Most attractions that are in both MK's were first in DL, so different. Pirates is fabulous, the Haunted Mansion is the best...the castle...sigh...enchanting.

What we're not crazy about DL is the lines - weekends draw the locals and it is crowded. We rarely stand in a line at WDW and were spoiled, but DL can be very crowded in the summer, any school vacation, weekends all year. If you go, do your homework...if not staying at a DL hotel, research carefully - go to the DIS Disneyland board and learns much as you can.

The nice thing about DL is that you don't have to go everyday, so you can take a day trip to other places - and it's fun...whereas at WDW we never, ever leave property (would spoil the magic).

Okay, I've hijacked this thread long enough....pm me with questions, but best of all, go to the DIS DL boards.
Happy Planning!!!! :goodvibes I'm sooo jealous!!

Wow! I feel the makings of a Lifetime Movie here. You have bad men, young helpless woman, adorable youngens, a decent into mental breakdown, and soon the reunion. Geeze. You should have warned us ahead of time about needing the Kleenex. I am a stress/emotional eater so while reading the latest posts, I polished off a whole sleeve of Girl Scout thin mints. My butt and thighs are thrilled.

And yes--we need another chapter.

Highjacked? As Balki would say, "don't be ridiculous!" No forum etiquette being breached here. Anything goes! :grouphug:

I know where you can buy more! :rolleyes1 I am a GS leader, and I still have 4 cases of GS Cookies in my den!

Christine... you'll have to give me some input on hotels. :scared1: We're back to THAT again! I love Disneyland Hotel because the theme is adorable. But Paradise Pier has the grill that we would like. And then I keep reading that the good neighbor hotels are actually closer, and quite a bit cheaper. Basically, I want a clean room that is not too far from property (or has a shuttle). Also, a nice pool would be good (slide, theme, etc). And how convenient is off property dining? I can't afford to feed us for a week there, and the dining plan gets horrid reviews!

Oh no you di'int! Um, since were into confession right now... in the past hour I have had coffee, (This could be bad. Very bad idea.) a grilled cheese sammich WITH onions, and *almost* a whole sleeve of baby cookies. Dang kid begged for a few so I had to share. I ate something else, but I can't remember. Matter of fact, I'm currently eyeing the maple walnut ice cream. I'm hearing voices! Another grilled cheese sammich would be nummies too. :goodvibes

I hear you on the stress eater issue. Stinks. :( Hrm. Ice cream... grilled cheese sammich.... :scratchin

FORGET the onions! Make it a grilled swiss cheese and tomato sandwich with a little mayo on one side and a light sprinkle of oregano on the maters. It's heavenly:cloud9:

Making me hungry! I am headin' to the store for frozen pizzas in just a sec. I need to get more cheese slices so I can eat tomorrow!

Do you fry that with butter, too? Sounds really good! But if I try it, then you gotta try the american with onions! (spit and shake on it?)

*Note to self: pick up a mater and swiss slices at the store, too.*
