Does the monorail pick you up at the Grand Floridian Villas or do you have to walk to the grand Floridian to take the monorail?

The Grand Floridian Resort is made up of several buildings. The Grand Floridian Villas are at the Grand Floridian Resort. Some of the other buildings at the Grand are further away from the monorail than the Villas. All Grand Floridian guests have to walk to the main building to take the monorail.

Hi everyone... I'm visiting from the CR board and wanted some help.

We are currently booked in two theme park view rooms at the CR, but with the room discounts that came out today, we can save 3K by moving to 2 garden view rooms at the Grand.

My parents are traveling with us, and it is really important for my dad to be able to watch the fireworks every night... is there a good spot at the Grand to watch from?

TIA

The dock area is good and sitting by Gaspies each night you can see the fireworks.

Thank you to those who responded with the RPC and SL comparisons. I am really thinking about CL there in 2014. We will be at GF for first time since 2010 in a few weeks (just for a visit-not guest) and am really looking forward to seeing all of the changes like the pool and addition of the DVC - a little concerned on that one, but hopefully okay there too!

Thanks for the added info about the marina. My family is in the fireworks business and my dad just enjoys watching all the different shells go off, so not having music playing wouldn't be so bad.

It does seem like everyone is in a frenzy to get rooms and they are going super fast. We are going to decide tonight. The way I see it, moving to the GF would be bitter sweet, so if we miss out on the offer, we are all still really excited about our original plans. :goodvibes

Ah, that explains your username!

Hi everyone-As of yesterday we have switched from BLT to two rooms at the GF. We are thrilled. We currently have a Deluxe Queen/garden view and Standard/Lagoon view for my parents. Hopefully they will be in the same building/same floor as our room since my 5 year old will be rooming with them.

What are some of the buildings that I may request that would have both, Deluxe/Garden view and standard/lagoon view?

We're so excited to be joining the group!

If someone is at the GF now or is going soon, can you please find out why the entire main building, RPC, is unavailable for the entire month of July.

Still have not closed on GF Villas and I'm getting nervous as we are getting close to our 11 month mark and won't be able to get the dates we want. Next year we have such a small window of opportunity to go on vacation, that only a few weeks in July work for us. Thanks!

Anyone know a good room in boca chica to request that is a lagoon view room? We are not able to change room category but hoping to get a glimpse view of mk. Thanks!pixiedust:

Am hoping to book a villa here for next year....what does everyone think my chances are for securing a villa at 11 months out?!?! hoping for a studio!

This will be our first time at the GF and I never thought I would want to stay here but I think my DDs will LOVE it and am pretty excited!! Fingers crossed I can get it.

The monorail is in the main building and might be a bit of a walk from the outer buildings (It's not horribly long but could take several minutes).

On the flip side, however, the outer buildings are very close to the resort launch dock!

Meredith1 If you booked both of those reservations in your name then they should automatically be linked..if not..I would call and be sure that they are linked to one another..and ask for the rooms to be close together...

I believe that every building has both of those room categories...my personal recommendation would be Boca Chica...has lovely lagoon and garden views...

MommyGina Will be at the GF soon..:woohoo: and will gladly ask about why RPC is not available next July...

my trip is getting close now! so excited! if i close my eyes i can almost hear the orchestra in the main building and smell the delicious smell of basin:goodvibes....

BethClayton and BlueSkies - Have a great time. Oh how I miss the Grand and it hasn't even been a month since I've been back home! I would appreciate any information about why RPC has been book 12 moths out already. Thanks!

Hi everyone!:wave2:
Me, and my dd will be staying at the Grand in just 13 days. It just seems so surreal, that I will be staying there. This is truly a dream come true. So, I was just wondering from all you GF experts. Is there anything that is a must do at the GF. Thanks:)

This is our second time staying there, but we will be spending more time at the resort this time so I'm excited to hear others responses too!

I saw this for the very first time last month and we have stayed at the GF for the last 8 years. Every Monday around 8 am there is a parasol parade on the grounds. We were in the GF cafe having breakfast when it started. Grabbed my camera and ran outside. Hostess must have thought who is this idiot and what is she doing running outside! The parade starts before Gasparilla's and continues around the fountain.

If you are up and at the resort at that time, it's a must see.

:beach: woohoo! Leaving Wednesday for Florida! 9 days in Ft Lauderdale, then driving up to WDW! Can't wait to check into GF and see my daughters face. She still doesn't know I booked 2 nights GF before our 12 nights YC!

That's awesome! Love surprising my girls even though it is often impossible! We arrive Thursday morning for two nights before we cruise and my girls (DD14 and DD9) know it's the GF but they don't know we are in Sugarloaf. They love CL but we don't do it every time so the surprise should be a fun one.

This is good to know. Does the parasol parade only occurs on a monday morning? We currently have a breakfast ADR at Grand Floridian Cafe (7am) so hopefully can catch it just after our breakfast.
