Anyone know (Store CM maybe?!??!) if the Disney Stores are going to have a good sale anytime soon? Looking for some pre-trip purchases to make the trip down a little easier for the kids...and us!

I would like to know as well too as I'll be in the area of one on Sept. 30th. Thanks for posting!

I am also interested in knowing when a great sale will take place. Today, I stopped at TDS looking for some items for goodie bags that I'm making for the kids traveling with us. Back to school seems to have gone 75% off. Lunchboxes, backpacks, etc. were all very reasonable. I was looking for small trinkets though. I managed to find Mickey plush bookmarks (where the head and feet hang out of the top and bottom of the book) for 99 cents- regularly $4.50. They had other characters as well but I can't remember which ones. I took all 7 Mickey's that were left since that is the number of children I had to buy for. Some princess hair clips were only 50%off-maybe they'll go lower at the next sale. If anyone knows about an upcoming TDS sale, I would love to know.

I need to pick up my sleeping beauty pre-order movie. So, I will have to check it out. DS needs a Buzz backpack. LOL

I was just in TDS this week and got some really good deals.

First, if you spend $50 (including pre-ordering either Nemo or The Lion King) you get a $10 coupon for another purchase. I pre-ordered Nemo (releasing Nov. 4th), bought 2 Buzz stadium jackets for $19.95 each (regularly $40), 2 kids T-shirts (each $7 or $7.50). That got me a $10 coupon. And with that, I got myself and Tinkerbell sweatshirt originally $24.50, 50% off + the $10 off. So, it cost me $2.25 + tax. I was soooo excited. I never get myself something.

The goody bag idea is very clever. I could leave them on their beds at night. We're staying at a timeshare and that would bring the magic to our condo. What do you put in them? I have 2 boys 7 & 3. I like taking the washcloths on vacation. They were on sale at one time for $.70. I should've gotten about 10 of them. We use them at home, too, after vacation.

Hope this helps.

Maria

TiggerinNY,

I do the goodie bags every year. Like you, I also picked up the washcloths at TDS when they were 70 cents a few months ago. I try to get things that work well for boys and girls so that the bags for our group are identical. So far, all I have in the bags are the plush Mickey bookmarks, the washcloths and the tiny tins of candy I picked up for 49 cents when I bought the washcloths. I am trying to keep everything Mickey themed. I have about a month and 1/2 before we leave, so I'm hoping to pick up a few more items for their bags. If I don't find good deals at TDS by then, I'll stop by the dollar store for some glow necklaces and stuff.

Nickymouse,

The glow in the dark necklaces are a GREAT idea. I almost forgot about that!!! I am going to order them from Oriental trading. Have you ever heard of them? They are a catalog that you can order stuff in bulf from. Great for birthday parties. They have the necklaces...50 for $49.95. You may not need that many. You can order the glow sticks, too. And you can use them for Halloween, too. I put a glow stick on the front and backs of my kids. The cars can see them then. Their website is orientaltrading.com.

Thanks for reminding me. We leave for the World on October 11th.

TTFN,
Maria

TiggerinNY,

Yes, I order from OTC alot for my kids parties at school (great crafts for large groups) but I've never ordered their glow stuff before. 50 pieces is alot for our group, but if I gave it to them on a few different nights we would definitely use them up. Thanks, I'll check it out.

TiggerinNY,
Check Ebay first, I got 100 glow bracelets, connectors, 4 rings and various other related items for like $10. Used some for our July trip and have plenty for our upcoming Dec. trip. They also had the necklaces fo about the same price. Much better deal than OTC.

I just returned from the Dollar Tree. They have lots of glow merchandise that they just got in (it wasn't there last week.) They had glowsticks, a pack with 2 necklaces and 2 bracelets in it and a 3 pack of glow glasses that you put together. Another brand had a 2 pack of glasses, but these 3 packs are new. I ended up buying the long packages that had 2 necklaces and 2 bracelets in them. I only needed 4 packs (8 kids total) so this was perfect for me. For 50 cents apiece, each of the kids gets a bracelet and necklace! These will be perfect for when we watch the Electric Water Pageant.

Just to let you know those necklaces at the Dollar Tree have been recalled. I don't know why. I was in my store and asked where they were, I had seen them 2 days before and was told about the recall.

Thanks for that info, Beth, I'll have to check this out tonight as I bought several packs of these from the Dollar Store a few weeks ago. Never would have known about it otherwise! I'll see if I can find out what the recall is for and post the info. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow, thanks for letting me know about the recall. I'll see if I can fin out anything about it.

I bought some of the Dollar Tree glow bracelets recently and one out of four actually worked, the others did nothing. I wouldn't spend a lot on them.

Keep your eye out at the various dollar stores. I pick up a lot of Disney character things there (purses, pads, nail art, pens, etc.) I have our next 3 trips planned over 2 years. I have a box for each trip and buy accordingly, We are different groupings each time so I buy different amounts and pay attention as others said to sexes and ages.

I started a tradition that if I am not careful will be costly. Each night when we get back to the room, the kids each find a note addressed specifically to them with something about their day and it is signed by a character and has a gift. for example, the note said "hope you saw me in the parade today down main street. Love Cinderella" it had a cinderella backpack with it.

I usually play stupid and run back in the room with an oops I forgot something and make everyone wait outside while I "help the character" put out the gifts. It really adds magic to the trips and if I do it wisely costs me about $20 for 5 days (approx. 10 items) and than cuts down on souveniers to almost nothing.

Good luck
Sandy

I think it's a cute idea. Thanks to all of you, you have my wheels turning about little gifts for my guys. I was thinking of leaving something on their beds at night when they are sleeping. So, when the wake up, they have something special. The little note is cute. The problem of stopping and coming back into the room is, that I would probably forget!!! I would be soo excited to get going in the morning that I would be rushing out of the door, too.

Thanks again.

Maria

Well, our local Dollar Store folks were clueless about the recall. The night manager did say she would check into it and I could check back. She mentioned that she had bought and used some of them without a problem. Anyway, if I find out more info, I'll post again. :D

Like the other poster said check ebay for the necklaces. I just ordered 100 of the bracelets and you connect them to make the necklaces for $6.99. I am using these for my sons birthday party coming up.

I did the same thing on our last trip to Disney and kept them in my backpack and used them at night in the parks.

I just purchased the glasses packs at our new Dollar Tree.
If I get that way again, I'll check about the recall too. Bought these for upcoming trip, so I hope they work :(
Pls post if you hear. Thxs!
