A Girl's Trip Becomes So Much More! My Trip Report is Posted!! 6.8.11

I'm here! I know I'm late to the party but I've read every installment and am all caught up. I loved your trips down memory lane.

Keep a watch on my trip report because I have a HDDR installment coming up very soon.

Welcome!! :welcome: So glad you are joining in! I will look forward to reading your HDDR installment! You always have such great pictures and stories! :)

I just have to let out a little happy dance because my ticker says I will be at Disney World in 4 months!!!
:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2:

Tick-Tock, Tick, Tock!! I am so ready!!! :yay:

Okay, back to being a "normal" adult!! :rolleyes1

Congratulations on your new trip! I've just skimmed over some of the details right now since I was enjoying the early days of EPCOT pictures. I went in '83 and I would have to agree with others how little has changed in over 25 years.

It's too bad POR was all booked but yhey are renovating POFQ right now and it should be well on it's way if not complete by May. I have seen some great photos! Flat Screens and Queen Beds. Can't go wrong with that at a Mod.

Yay -- a new trip for you! I just realized you have a PTR going, so now that I've subbed, I have to go back and read everything!

Thank you and howdy!!!! (a little Texas reference for ya!:goodvibes) I am so excited about this trip! Keith knows what he is getting into and may be a little more open to things now. And my mom is going. I can't wait to run her feet off! :lmao: Glad you enjoyed looking at the Epcot pics!

I have seen some pics from the renovated rooms and they look so awesome especially for a mod!

So sorry I have been MIA! Not much on the planning front so far. I hope to get to daily plans soon! I hate to make too many plans with time still to spare because I know they will change! Oh, Okay….I know they will change even while we are there! But I do have some initial plans shaping up. A few changes or adjustments are already in the works.

One: My dad doesn’t think he can make it due to work schedules and he also heads a summer church building mission group that begins Memorial Day weekend. He feels like too much may be going on. I really had a feeling this would not work out but had still been hoping.

Two: Since the trip falls over two weeks, Keith is going to have to adjust his schedule a bit. Rather than driving down with us on Thursday it looks like he may fly down on Friday afternoon and meet us that evening. This may actually work out in that he doesn’t care much for Magic Kingdom and Friday is a Magic Kingdom day. This means he will have only one MK day to deal with. Also, Crystal Palace is our TS that day and I don’t think he will cry over missing this one.

Of course all of this is just in the planning stages so who knows what may transpire over the next 3 ½ months!

Now on to my “revelations”!!! I was cooking supper last week and watching an Animal Kingdom show (I think it is the one from The Travel Channel) on Netflix. They were talking about Kilimanjaro Safari and Keith walks in. The conversation began:

Keith: “What are you watching?"

Me: “A special on Animal Kingdom.”

Keith: “Have we been there?”

Me: :confused:silence….followed by “Are you serious??? Don’t you remember this?”

Keith: “No. We rode that?”

Me: (unbelievable!!) “Yes, it was our first ride at Disney. This is where we saw the giraffes….we were in a bumpy jeep and went on a safari…remember???”

Keith: “No not at all”

Now the show has moved on to Expedition Everest during this conversation.

Keith: “What is that?”

Me: “Are you kidding me??? We rode that 4 times! Three of which you sat on a rock in the hot sun and waited for us!!) Remember ringing the bells as we walked through the line?”:confused:

Keith: “No, not really.”

Me: “You can’t tell me you do not remember anything about that trip!”

Keith: “I remember my foot killing me at the place with all of the concrete. And I liked Toy Story because I kicked everyone’s tails. And we went into an auditorium and watched cars chase each other. “

Me: “Epcot had all of the concrete and the others were at Hollywood Studios…wait! You liked those things???? Toy Story and the cars was Lights Motors Action! Well I now know your favorite park! It is Hollywood Studios!”

Keith: with a smirky little grin…..yet never admitting to anything. “Where was the parade and fireworks? I hated that place.”

Me: “Magic Kingdom…and I had no idea!” (not really, I knew that he could care less if he ever went back there!) :rolleyes1

Keith: “Yes, that place was torture. But I do remember dinosaurs…that was fun “

Me: “Dinosaurs? At AK?? You actually liked that?”

Keith: “Where we ate.”

Me: “Oh! T-Rex!”

Okay enough dialogue! :lmao: So through all of this I had some revelations!!

Now to those of you who did not read my TR from June 2010 let me fill in a few blanks. My DH has declared himself a Disney hater. :scared1: He went in June to “shut me up”. Initially we were to be there for only 4 days and move on to St Augustine, FL. Well our final day was at Epcot and his foot was bothering him badly. He could barely walk and we really missed a lot of Epcot (Much to my dismay since this is my favorite park. I always make our last day Epcot.) Well, while we were at Epcot, Keith makes a decision to call the reservation line and see if we can extend our trip! :yay: I was beyond excited because I know my husband and just trying to get an extra day ticket and staying on Disney property meant (without any actual verbal confirmation from him) that he had enjoyed himself…at least somewhat!

For this trip, he actually will discuss bits and pieces giving an opinion here and there. And it isn’t venomous opinions either!!

So through all of this here are the revelations :scratchin!!
1. Keith does not like Magic Kingdom but is okay with POTC, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mtn. This trip I am going to introduce him to Carousal of Progress which I think he will like.

2. Epcot has a lot of concrete. :confused3:rotfl:

3. Keith’s favorite park is Hollywood Studios. I believe Rope Drop to Toy Story for FPs and Stand-by will be in order again! :woohoo:

4. I will have to look at fitting T-Rex in to the schedule. This has also made Madison happy.

5. I am unsure if Animal Kingdom was really a blur or he was pulling my leg. But I will have to try to change this because this is my 2nd favorite park! (I know, I am not the average Disney fan…MK ranks 3rd!)

6. He really, really likes POR and the boat ride to DTD. Which I already knew and I am just throwing it in for good measure!

I am sure many more revelations will be forthcoming but at least I can ride this wave for a while….and yes I am still trying to keep that initial promise of not talking about Disney all of the time! :ssst:

Love the conversation with DH. You must be happy that you can finally try to incorporate some of the things that he enjoys too.

You got more out of your DH than I'll ever get with mine.:thumbsup2

While I do agree that EPCOT has alot of concrete, how can you completely forget everything at AK?:confused3

DH gets tired of talking about Disney, as well. He seems to forget things, too (Like riding Winnie the Pooh, for example). Your dh will remember when he gets there. I promise.

 the conversation with the hubby. That had me :rotfl:. And concrete is why I think we didn't enjoy Epcot for a few trips. Finally me and the boy spent several hours just exploring and liked it a lot more.

So, does your hubby grin from ear-to-ear when he is pulling your leg, sounds like mine.

Sorry your Dad can't make it, but hopefully that means you can plan another trip.

:rotfl: about that conversation. I'm glad that you learned a little about what he likes.

If he enjoys the competition of Toy Story, I would send him on Buzz a few times in MK and play some of the games in the Mission: Space pavilion (which you can do without going on the ride - and you know I haven't ridden that!)

The concrete in Epcot really makes me laugh. Epcot and AK are the parks where I feel we do the most walking, but I never though of Epcot having more concrete than anywhere else. I think his sore foot clouded his perceptions.

I'm looking forward to your daily plans.

I am so happy that he has given me some ideas! Last year I knew enough to think "he will like this or that" or "he will hate this!" but I still could not be 100% sure!

I am really hoping he was pulling my leg on AK!

I could see him forgetting a ride or two but a whole park that we spent almost 7 hours in?! :lmao::confused3

I can get on a roll when talking about Disney though so I have to pace myself with everyone! I don't want to drive people completely crazy! But I think I have done well on toning it down soem around DH!

He does smile ear-to-ear and he gets this little gleam in his eyes...so evil!! :rotfl:

I love breaking Epcot up into portions and concentrating on areas close together over a couple of days. A problem with only having one day in June was that I had to try and cram a lot of Epcot in and with a sore foot, it just wasn't good! Maybe I should have checked into those segways!! ;)

Oh....we will have to do those games at Mission Space while the kids ride! I forgot about those! We did not even venture over there last year when they rode because I didn't know they were there. My MK days are being re-worked right now so soon I should be able to begin posting those. They are days 1 and 2 though so the beginning is already getting a makeover! Knowing he will probably be there only one day, I can move the things I know he liked and what we missed that I think he will like onto the day he is there!

I agree about the clouded perception! The Friendship boat helped a lot but there was still a lot of (slow) walking that day! We walk a lot in AK. I tend to do a lot of retracing our steps while there, but the park doesn't seem overly large and it is okay for the most part.

Wow. Forgetting EE and Safaris? Was he pulling your leg? The rest of the conversation isn't as surprising since I have to tone down some of my Disney excitement from time to time.

T-Rex is great (considering we ate there at about the same time as you did)! Great apps and decor.

Looking forward to more planning and Keith's "Meh" responses. :rotfl:

Yeah--forgetting a whole park is kind of scary there, lol.

I totally agree!! :rotfl:

I really hope and think he was pulling my leg! He seems to have forgotten even more in the last week...you never know when he is serious and when he is joking. Madison falls for his joking all of the time!

I forgot we were at T-Rex at the same time! It is so much fun!! :yay:

And I am sure there will be plenty more "Meh" responses!!

:yay::dance3::banana::banana::banana::dance3::yay:

You have now entered the strange zone of getting closer but not yet crunch time. Well, unless you don't have airline tickets and then this is when I start panicking! :rotfl:

Yes...I am tracking prices on those airline tickets right now! Actually all but Keith will be driving down and then Keith will fly one-way and drive back with us. I am really hoping for some pixiedust: for the tickets at the time and price we want! I am watching Southwest closely right now. They have the right flight time but not the right price!!
