Hi all, My partner and I will be visiting WDW next week and I am planning on proposing while we are there. His mom has already arranged champagne to be delivered to our table at dinner our first night during the Hollywood &vine Star Wars character meal. We are doing DHS our first day. Any suggestions? I was thinking of doing it when we take the picture with Ewok Chip and Dale, we are both huge Star Wars fans, I am making a R2D2 ring box to use. I am looking for any advice, I also already ordered a plush Jedi Mickey so I could work that I'm as well. - Thanks

Oh, I love that idea! :goodvibes I'm a huge Star Wars fan too, and would love to see your R2D2 ring box if you get the chance.

The only other idea I have might be to call the restaurant and see if you could do it at your table with ALL the characters gathered there? I'm not sure how accommodating they would be about it. But the benefit of proposing with Chip and Dale is that you get a print of that picture included with the meal. Please post pictures and the story after you propose! I'm excited to see them! :)

Sure thing.

My only thing with taking the picture with Chip and Dale is from what I understand you take the picture with them as you enter the restaurant. I read a review about the dinner on the Disney Food Blog that mentioned this. But it maybe nice to get it out of the way right off the bat. If i can I want to get the just engaged buttons as well. The trip is for my partner's 30th Birthday which was on the 5th but due to being back in school we had to wait for my break between spring and summer semesters to go. Sunday the 18th is our Anniversary and then Monday the 19th is when I am planning to propose.

I have also thought of having the Jedi Mickey plus in my bag and having the ring on his neck, or Just putting the engaged button on it, give it to my partner and when he sees the button and says something giving him the R2 box.

For the R2 box I have used several different online resources/ tutorials. I have two I am working on just different sizes. Both use a plastic easter egg for the dome and have a body from random things I found around the apartment (one is from an empty shaving cream can that i sawed down to the right size). The next step is applying the details, I am playing with printing out the body markings on either transparency film or just entirely out of paper then gluing this to the body and then sealing this.

When i get home this evening I will post some pictures of it under construction. All the model making for my scene design classes in college have be helpful when thinking of creative uses of random materials.

I just read about the H&V dinner on AllEars, and it seems as though you do take your picture with Chip and Dale as you enter the restaurant. The idea of giving him the plush is nice, and then you could give him the ring in the box as he noticed the button, but if you wanted someone to photograph the moment, you'd probably have to let someone know ahead of time.

One thing I would consider, though, is how well your partner likes being center of attention. My DF proposed to me at Royal Table, and everyone in the restaurant cheered and applauded. I was okay with it, but I can see some people getting anxious about it! I'm not sure if the Chip and Dale photo area is visible to everyone or not.

Definitely make sure to wear Just Engaged buttons, though. We got so many nice words from CMs and other guests, including a couple celebrating their 40th anniversary. :)

So I have actually started a thread on the Creative DISigns board: R2D2 Box

I also have a full pre-trip report that I wrote up this afternoon: 6 Days to Our WDW Vay-cay

Thanks for the responses I'm getting so nervous/ excited about the trip and proposing my last exam was this evening and I went to Dollar Tree and Michael's for a few last minute crafts.

Your R2-D2 box is really cool.

We had a Star Wars themed Wedding.

Used Etsy for a lot of stuff, wedding cake topper/cutter/server. Table Planets. Star Wars Guest Book sign.

My friend designed Star Wars wedding invitations.

Good Luck. :)

Your R2 ring box looks great!! I wish I were creative and crafty enough to be able to make something like that.

I'm following along with your trip report, too! I'm excited to hear all about it.

We had a Star Wars themed Wedding

I doubt we will have a "themed" wedding per say, but we have talked about using the Throne Room/ End Credits from New Hope as a processional. Maybe some cuff links or simular. Id love to see pictures.

Nobody was dressed up. But we did want to get the 501st to walk us into the reception venue. Unfortunately, the venue didn't allow for outside entertainment.

I like to think most of our stuff was subtle and not in your face.

Groomsmen walked into Duel of the Fates. We walked out of the chapel to the Throne Room. At the reception, wedding party walked out to the Ewok Celebration and we walked out to Imperial March.

Cake cutter and server were from Etsy too.

Instead of Table Numbers, we had Table planets. Again from Etsy. We bought frames from AC Moore for each table.

I wore Star Wars cufflinks. I got these from Thinkgeek.

Instead of a guest book we had this.

These were our favors.

That all looks awesome, especially the cake! We're getting married on May the 4th, 2015, but we probably won't incorporate any other theming besides maybe music.

Congrats!!! I'm a huge Star Wars fan especially r2d2!!

I'm just throwing things into the mix but I'm getting married at Disney and was looking at the fancy fondant cakes they sell. There's a pic of a few of them floating around on the boards but I saw an r2d2 mini cake!!! I think that would be a cute little dessert you can do.
