We are going to US on 10/25 and IOA 10/26 with DD7 & DS5 for the first time. US is open from 9-7 and IOA from 9-6. We plan to be there at opening. We are not into rollar coasters or extreme thrill rides so we won't be doing any of those. Will each of these parks take the full day to go through? :)

No, both parks will not take an entire day to go thru. If you are there at opening, you can tour IOA in 4 hours, USF in about 5.
USF takes slightly longer because they have more shows and ball crawls.

Crowds are light in October. And the night you are going are not hhn nights.
Things will be very quiet.
You can tour the parks in the morning, come back to your hotel room, rest, go back at 4pm for favorites, then go to dinner.

You've picked a great time to visit.

Thanks for the info. I was kind of hoping we would have time to either take a break mid-day or take our time going through the park and not be rushed to see everything. We can't wait to go

Well, yes, you can do both parks in two days, but for future trips I'll bet you'll plan on spending more time! :) My DS(5) and DD(7) spent three hours in Curious George's playland alone! Granted, we had five days in the parks, so that chunk of time wasn't a big deal...(DH and I took turns at MIB with DD(10) while the little ones played---one watched the little ones while the other went with DD). You and your kids will love Universal!
