A food product that was popular when

I feel like I should have a pretty long list, but all my mind can come up with is Slimer Juice. Not sure that was the official name, but I remember going through a phase as a kid where that was all I would drink. I use to gross my mom out drinking it. I'd love to try it today and see if it tastes the way I remember it. It was basically neon green fruit punch I think. This was back when juice came in giant tin cans, and it really looked like some kind of toxic chemical, not something you should be drinking.

Rice-a-roni red beans and rice - this one may still be available in some areas, but I haven't seen it in years, and I love it. I can eat a whole box in one sitting. I've tried other box red beans and rice, and they just aren't the same.

I also love the microwave chef boyaredee cheese ravioli in meat sauce. They still sell the meat ravioli, but I haven't seen the cheese in years. I'm guessing it may be available somewhere, not really sure if it was discontinued, or they just don't carry it where I live.

Cajun chicken fingers at Fridays. I loved those things. When they removed them from the menu, Fridays really lost its appeal to me. I'm not a big chicken finger fan, I just really loved those for some reason.

The one I thought of initially was Grape Tang. Someone mentioned Tang, and I've seen the orange flavor but not the grape. Not that I'd buy it now anyway lol.

Also, I remember devil's food Twinkies from the 70's. They weren't around very long.
Hostess still sells something called Zingers that are just like or either very similar to a devil's food Twinkie. I love them!

Jiffy Pop popcorn. It's still on the market, but I haven't really seen it in ages. It sort of went out when microwave popcorn became common.

It's popcorn in a preassembled package with an aluminum tray, expanding foil cover, and a wire handle. You were supposed to place it on the stove and it would pop and expand. It looks like the more recent versions have been modified with a black surface to hold onto heat better than the original uncoated aluminum tray.

I always loved these. They are actually fun to make but I haven't seen them in a while either.

Zingers came with the purchase of Dolly Madison. I think back before the purchase the product was different than Twinkies. After the purchase, they seemed to make Zingers so that they could use much of the same equipment.

I remember when Dolly Madison snacks were marketed with Peanuts characters on the box and in TV commercials.

Cheese Whiz...I used to eat it on white bread & rolled up. Fruit Stripe gum & Frankenberry cereal.

I think they still sell cheese whiz. frankenberry (as well as count chockula and boo-berry) is available in most store around us.

Tato Skins (original baked potato flavor)
Chicken N a Biscuit crackers (I know they tasted different and better years ago!)
Super Sugar Crisp cereal with "Archie's" records on the back of the box!!
Planters Cheese Balls
York Peppermint Patties (I know these still exist too, but they also tasted better years ago)
Jiffy Pop popcorn
Fiddle Faddle (do they still make this?)
Raisin Bran cereal (with the yogurt chunks in it); this is an item that has disappeared in the past year that I have yet to find anywhere!
RC colas (I don't really miss them, but other people might)
Coca Cola in the small bottles

Fox's U-Bet Syrup! It was a chocolate syrup that was delivered by the same man who brought the seltzer bottles. Remember the old seltzer bottles? They were actual glass with a big metal dispenser on top.

Tato Skin
Planter's Cheese Balls (Every Saturday we would go to my Grandma's and she would have a Pepsi and a bowl of these ready for me. I just LOVED them!!!)

There were these fries that you microwaved in this container....they got crispy, even. They were so good!

They still sell Cheeze Whiz but it is in the refrigerated section now.

Cheeze Whiz was out on a regular shelf (with chips, pretzels) in a grocery store yesterday. It was in those little clip on shelves in front of the actual shelves.

I use to love Chickin in a biscuit crackers. I bought a box not long ago but had to throw it away. They were so salty. Not sure if the crackers changed or my taste buds changed, but they were bad!

You can still get the Viennetta ice cream roll at christmas time. I know that Kroger and Meijers both sell it in our area.

A Jack in the Box Super Taco. Taco Shell and Ground Beef, Deep Fried. Than lettuce, tomato, American and Chesse, Topped off with Taco Sauce. Greesy and So Good.

I never saw Fox's U-bet syrups in glass bottles, but around here there's a good variety available in plastic bottles: chocolate, coffee, vanilla, cherry, etc.

I always wanted my mother to get a seltzer bottle with the dispenser on top, but she knew my brother and I would only spray each other with it!!!! (Moms are smart)

Viennetta was amazing! We used to consider it a "fancy" dessert.

I have Junket in my cabinet right now; the unflavored kind, strawberry, chocolate, and one other flavor, I think. My kids like it, and you can use the unflavored to make cheese.

.....wow, you still HAVE some??? My mom always made that for me when I was a kid - she HATED it, but said that I always loved it.....:scratchin sheesh, gotta be more than 45 years ago....
