A few weird things we saw people do on our trip

Just a note for next time. They speak Portuguese in Brazil. Chances are, the woman you were talking to didn't speak Spanish either.

:earsboy:

Yeah, that's only been mentioned about 5 times in this thread. ;)

and the point was more that she was trying to cut not that she was faking not being able to speak english. :)

It kind of bothers me when people do not read the whole thread when the respond...:rolleyes1

Did anyone ever stop to think they don't speak Spanish in Brazil?

What's one more time, right? lol :rotfl2:

Actually in Brazil they speak Portuguese. I know this because I am super smart! ;)

My hubby speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese (a few other languages too). What do the Disney gods make of this?!? :lmao:

I'm terribly sorry to have bothered you. But yes ... I responded to the post when I saw it and did NOT read through the other posts. My sincerest apologies.

I had to throw in my 2 cents. My DD was hit by a car when she was little and has residual effects in her leg. We were in Disney and had to rent a wheelchair for her because her ankle would start to give out from all the walking. The one day we were in a queue for TOT and trying to wind our way through. A large droup of tourists pushed their way through past us and actually caused my DD's leg to get trapped and twisted through 2 poles. She spent the rest of the trip in the wheelchair with a badly sparined ankle. I now make sure we stand three across and have my DH, 6'2 and 285 lbs., do the blocking. Rant over.

I was not singling you out personally. It just was said on every page so it was kind of funny. No one here is serious, so I am sorry you thought we were. We are being sarcastic which I know does not translate well over here. We are just having fun, but I am sorry if you thought it was an attack on you.

I work in DC but I live in Maryland I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and was starting pre-term labor. I usually take the bus to work and at that time no buses were running. The only way I could get to my hospital was the Metro Train. Ok I am a firm believer of giving up my seat to the pregnant, disabled and the elderly. I got on a crowded Metro train. No seats. That is Ok with me. I was in pre-term labor and in heavy pain. People can see this. The only person who offered their seat to me was an elderly lady who told me I needed it more than she. I declined. I thought that was soo nice of her. What did bother me is the stares I received like I am someone crazy or some tourist attraction, because I am moaning a little of being in major pain. (Hello people, I'm in labor) I have to admit it did bother me that no one other than that nice lady would help me.

By the way I went to the hospital and they stopped labor. I stopped work and 3 weeks later I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who is going to turn 3 in July.

I am sorry for all the people have to deal with rude people. I think we all have stories. The one thing I know. My kids will never act like that. I will make sure of that. Wll, atleast NOT in front of me.

Do y'all know who Anne McCaffery is? She writes a book series called Pern...it's a YA series with dragons and such? She's TOTALLY just like that. Except she has handlers who yell at people to get out her way for now reason at all. She's surly and rude and disruptive and yet people fawn all over her. It's quite an annoying and astounding site to see, actually! She and her handlers will yell at you and shove you aside and she'll not think twice about running over you with her scooter.

For Anne's sake, I hope she's not in Disney while I'm there or she's gettin' a butt whoopin. Nobody, and I mean, nobody is going to push and shove me. Maybe in her own little world she's a "somebody", but that's not the way I see it in my own little world.

This saddens me when people don't watch out for other people.

I was thinking about not posting this, but then I said, hey it will help if I finally let it out.

On the last day of my trip last year I saw a man by himself. He looked like he was in his mid 70s. He was very well dressed and very distinquished looking. I felt there was a deep sadness about him and when I looked at him he looked back at me and was staring directly in my eyes.

I kept on seeing him in the oddest places. I realized he was alone becaue everytime I ran into him he was by himself.

Finally, I was getting freaked out that I kept on seeing him and the sadness I felt became stronger. I asked my wife if she felt the same thing and she said who are you talking about. I said the good looking older man with the white hair and beard. She said I don't see a man like that.

I then walked her over to him and said look this is the gentlemen I'm talking about. She said that the sun must have gotten to me because there was no one there. He smiled and told me he was just checking on things and vanished right before my eyes.

OK I got goosebumps. But hey It can happen!:scared:

Sorry to hear people were so rude. I had the exact opposite happen. I'm "Pooh sized" as the boards have taught me to refer to myself, and I had three Japenese tourists on the PATH train between NY and NJ insist that I take one of their seats. I assured them I was fine and was getting off at the first stop. The sad part is, I wasn't pregnant at the time, but they sure thought I was! :scared1: I didn't have the heart to tell them and make them feel bad, so I just continued to tell them I was fine. :rotfl:

In situations like this, I always wonder, "Why don't you just ASK for a seat?" To stand there, in pain (which is obvious to you, but other people may well be in "ignore / commute" mode) and then get angry because people won't move, seems to be a bit much. I'll bet if you'd have simply said, "Excuse me, but I'm in labor and on the way to the hospital and would love to sit, if anyone can spare a seat." you'd have had more than one offer. People would have likely cleared a path so as not to be next to the pregnant lady if she accidentally gave birth!

And then, of course, once the elderly lady offered and you said no, everyone else figured you really didn't want to sit. I mean ... not everyone in the world knows what labor looks or feels like.

I don't understand why, if someone really needs or even just wants a seat, they just don't ask. Especially if they're, then, going to be all upset because no one offered. We can go round and round about what people SHOULD do or how you shouldn't need to ask and all that, but come on .... when you truly need to sit down, just say so!

:earsboy:

Yoy guys need to start thinking on your feet!

Next time you see something like a "fountain Group" take a quick drink from your water bottle, DON't SWOLLOW IT, run up to the fountain, and do the fake ralph into the fountain. wipe your mouth and say in your best pigin spanish "Con Permisso""... and leave.

Make sure to have other members of your group stand back with cameras ready........

When I was in Epcot 2 years ago with my b-friend, my DD and her 3 DD's..one of who was 6. We got on a bus very late one night to a no seater. I was holding the 6 year old who was sound asleep. When the bus started it kinda jerked me and I stumbled. A young guy who was british ( or so I assumed from the accent) let me have his seat. The guy next to him ( who wasn't with him and was from here ) was turned the other way. When I sat down he turned around and yelled "HEY!!! Someone else was sitting there!!!" so loud everyone on the bus turned around and looked. My bf just turned away because she didn't ( apparently want to let on she knew me ) I very quietly shifted her DD ( who didn't wake up till the next am!) and yelled back, "I KNOW HE WAS BUT HE WAS ALSO KIND ENOUGH TO LET ME HAVE IT!!!" And then I added, "UNLIKE YOURSELF!!" He looked totally shocked and completely turned away from me for the entire ride. Then we (minus my bf and sleeping kid ) sang It's a Small World all the way back!!
