A few weird things we saw people do on our trip

I have to say too though that as a seasoned traveler I find Americans to be just as inconsiderate as foreigners. I think its just easier for us to point out folks that are different from us. I take less offense of the folks with the feet in the fountain then I do with the dad using the f word towards his child. All in all we've become an uglier culture and those of us who still prefer the old, polite, civil ways are struck hard by the disrespect and rudeness of others.

I agree completely.
I've never been out of this country. All the stupid, rude, crude and disrespectful people I've known were American. And believe me, I've had my moments. No one is perfect. Thank goodness, I've known more wonderful, caring, intelligent folks.

Just last week in the FP line at Big Thunder at MK a man raced up the line past the CM with his 2 kids- midway a CM stopped him because one of his children was way too small (inches below 40") to go on the ride. This is printed on the fastpass and on the entrance sign. Man goes nutso (I walked ALL this WAY!!!) and would not give up while CM insists "Sir, I cannot let you go on this ride. I thought he would call security but the CM finally just snarled "Fine! Have a magical day!" (sarcastically).

We were behind nutsy man and I gave a sympathetic smile to the CM who was really on the edge at this point. I wish I had thought to loudly say to the man "It's a safety thing, idiot! How many rides have you pulled this on today because you are bitter you are missing your favorite rides because of your adorable little blessing who is too small to safely ride them?". DH and I agree we would not last long as a CM due to the rude guests- Disney would be forced to fire us!:rotfl:

These rules are in place for the safety of the riders and should not purposely bypassed. That being said when we went to WDW 5 years ago my youngest son was borderline for many of the rides. He was just barely tall enough for the the 40" rides. He had ridden splash mountain twice already, having been measured both before getting in line and again just before loading. On what was to be our third and last time on splash mountain, he was again measured before getting in line. After waiting in line for almost an hour, he was measured again before loading. This time the measuring stick passed over his head, brushing his hair (maybe 1/8th of an inch). I explained to the cm that he has been measured for this ride five times and passed them all (including just before getting in line this time, maybe this measuring stick was just a touch off from the rest. The cm was adamant he couldn't go. I understand this is for his safety, but after being measured already and then spending all that time in line was a little much. He and I didn't ride and waited for our older ds and my dw to take their ride. It was too bad this experience marred an otherwise great day. Luckily my ds is very good natured and it didn't take to long for him to get over this.

Last October we saw a man eating his lunch at the tables inside the Land pavillion without a SHIRT!!! Whaaa?

Same trip we saw a woman fall off her chair and into her pitcher of beer at Evergreens at the Shades of Green.

The year earlier we saw something at the TTC that is forever known in my family as the incident "that shall not be named"!!!! Nuff said 'bout that!

Two things I witnessed on my trip last week.

#1. We were in line to meet two lion king characters at Magic Kingdom and the little boy in front of us in line did not want to go to the characters he told his dad that he was too scared. He gave his autograph book to his older sister and said "it's okay my sister can get their autographs for me". The dad got furious at this point and yells at his son (very loudly) "they are not real, they are just people in costumes like at halloween". I was furious with the dad at this point. I am in my late twenties and know that this is the said reality but just like all the other little kids who heard him I was crushed. I wanted to yell at this man for what he had just taken from all of the other children in line.

#2. I am waiting at the ASMo resort to catch a bus to Epcot Friday evening and ahead of us in line is a group of 6 teenage boys. They were unsupervised and were being very annoying. They were getting louder and louder the longer we had to wait for a bus. At some point they began to play with the side walk lamp that extends from the walk way and they pulled the tob part off of it and broke it. When they realized they could not put it together properly they left the top piece on the ground. At this point I just kept looking at them with a very disapproving face. Eventually, I think one of the boys began to feel guilty because he began to try and repair the broken lamp. As he was doing this he pounded it back together and little pieces flew everywhere. I could not believe that those kids just broke something and laughed about it (yep they thought it was funny). I cannot believe that they were running around the parks unsupervised. I met 5 and 7 year olds in the parks last week that were better behaved then that groupd of teenagers.

When I saw the fountain picture I was really annoyed. I think it's mostly because, what if I want to take a picture in front of that fountain?! I'm pretty sure there is a "kodak picture spot" sign right on it! They're sitting occupying the entire thing! It's gross! :crazy2:

So let me ask...if they decided to sit with their feet outside the fountain would you still be so angry?

Anybody has a right to sit anyplace they like, whether or not you want to get a clear photo of it. That seems silly to me. My photos are filled with dozens of strangers sitting, standing, walking past, because I can't expect everyone to get out of my Perfect Shot! :rolleyes1

Exactly what I was going to say. I think he posted more down below on the Community Boards. He's exactly who I thought of when I read that post. He seems to be a tad bit "different", but I do think he has some mental/medical issues. I'd bet my bottom dollar this was the guy the poster was talking about. He visits WDW ALOT and was always going to Park Fare for the Cinderella dinner b/c he loves Suzy and Perla.

Yep thats him. I think he left the boards when too many people started making "fun" of him. These were "adults" too.

I probably would be mad if I wanted a pic, as they are taking up the ENTIRE thing. Perfect pic? No. But precisely where would you suggest I position my kid to get any pic at all? Noone can even get a drink the way they are sitting without putting their face in someone's back.

It only adds to my annoyance that their shoes are off and their crusty toes are in the fountain.

I hate when this happens. :(

While waiting in line for pictures with the characters, I've seen/heard plenty of adults wondering out loud if the CMs are feeling hot inside their costumes, as well as other such queries, and I only hope that the kids in line didn't hear anything.

:rotfl: Is that a new Olympic event?

Seriously! I'm concerned this will happen when we are there.....I don't have a sensor between my mouth and my brain sometimes, and I'm afraid I'll then be visited by the Brazilian Beat-Down Team!!!:lmao:

"Crusty toes", LOL.:thumbsup2

Weirdest thing I EVER saw....

We went to a P&P party in Feburary, at the end of the party we just hung out on the patio in front of the Plaza waiting for the crowds to go. When we got back on Main Street it was deserted, it was seriously just us and a really, really, creepy guy getting his picture taken by a Photopass lady photograher in front of the castle. He was very tall and thin and dressed all in black. Black hair, long black jeans and long sleeved black t-shirt and black shoes. He was holding a baby doll dressed in a very frilly pink dress, like baby Sleeping Beauty doll and he was posing with it. He never smiled, but kept holding the doll in different postions and poses. It was SO creepy. One of those things that makes an alarm bell go off in your head. (shiver)

You've been on the DIS since 2003 and really don't know who that was?:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

I have never ( thank goodness ) encountered the Brazilian Line Cutting Team, so what do they do? Do they seriously just walk into the middle of a line?

Usually, a couple of them get in line for a ride, then about 10-30 minutes later, after these two have moved up considerably, the others (which may number in the 20's or the 30's) who are in their touring sub-group will all try to push ahead into the line, claiming to be with people "up there", only they don't speak English well, so they use broken English and the element of surprise to squeeze their way past unsuspecting guests. When we encountered them back in the 80's (we haven't encountered them in over 15 years, thank goodness), one or two may have scooted by, but when you look back and see about 30 Brazilian teenagers pushing past on the left, my dad used to turn and ask them what they were doing, and when they acted like they didn't understand English, he'd tell them very s-l-o-w-l-y that the end of the line was w-a-y back there and they had to go wait. They might try to keep faking the "no comprendo" thing a bit longer, but he wasn't budging, so eventually they'd give up and leave. I remember this happening on PotC (which, believe it or not, used to have 30 - 45 min waits back then) and maybe Peter Pan's Flight?

from what I understand he was banned. He did not leave because people made fun of him. I think he posted pictures of a banned person and was then banned himself.

You know what word seems universally understood? STOP!!!
I'm a short 5'4" mama with 2 kids who would NOT allow a group of rude teens from wherever push us around.....:cool1: The cm's on R and R coaster were separating the darlings when they tried this number, but once they got inside.they tried again to push- let me tell you, dark room, lots of people, pushing and shoving and shouting.......then... a turn around (fierce mamabear style) a glare that could melt metal,a hand up,and a loud STOP was enough to make them behave for a few minutes....... my kids were shocked.....but impressed....
..even better, once we got to the cars area...again the wonderful cm's made the ones who 'stopped';) wait to get on and didn't let them push ahead, again! (they just keep trying to be rude!) it's not culture,it;s rudeness!

Actually nope, I had no idea. I had heard about the guy who went to the Cinderella dinner at GF and his thing with Suzy and Perla, but I never would have made the connection with the guy I saw with the doll. And serioulsy, I really don't try to judge, but you just can't imagine being on a completely deserted Main Street in the dark and seeing that guy.

Oh? I had no idea, I was just going by what someone else had written, as to why he doesn't post anymore.:confused3 Maybe he didn't understand the rules....
