DW and I are thinking of adding a day onto our WDW trip in December and spending a day at US/IOA (we aren't coaster people so we won't have to wait in the big coaster lines so we can probably see everything in one day). Neither of us have been to US in many moons and DW has never been to IOA (I was last in US in the early 90s and spent one day at IOA in 2000). Mostly we are interested in US and WWHP.

It would be Saturday, December 4th. Any reason why we would need more than one day and the 1 day 2 park pass?

We have no idea about food in US but are healthy eaters - no fried, few burgers, no soda, low sodium, etc. What would be our best CS and TS options in either US park?

Lastly, we'll want to stay somewhere for at least that Friday night, probalby the Saturday night also (we check out of AKL on Friday morning but will probalby spend most of the day at the MK afterwards before heading towards our new hotel near US). I've looked into the US hotels but the Pacific seems a little steep at over $200 per night on the site right now for such a short stay where we won't be spending much time in the resort anyway. Is there a good non-US hotel nearby that everyone likes?

Thanks!

Historically...you shouldn't have any problems with crowds in early December. But...this year it will depend on how large the crowds are from WWoHP as to whether you can still take your time.

As far as food goes...I enjoy Mythos (TS) and Thunder Falls Terrace (CS) at IOA...both are excellent and have a wide variety of dishes. At the Studios, I would go with Louie's (CS) and Finnegan's (TS) for the same reasons.

I can't help you with the lodging question...I live too close to stay at a hotel.
;)

Thanks. I had a feeling you'd be the one to respond after looking at other threads, lol.

We'll probably book the DoubleTree across the street based on the DIS Unplugged review and the fact they are newly remodelled and so close with a decent rate. I just can't justify shelling out $200 per night for such a short stay to stay at the Royal Pacific (which is more than we are paying per night to stay on DVC points in the AKL!).

DW wants to do two days now so we'll probably do half of Friday in IOA and all day Saturday in US so we should have no trouble seeing everything we'd be interested in if crowds are low.

Thanks for the food suggestions. Are there menus online that are up-to-date anywhere that you know of?

Idk how up to date they are but there is the meanus there. Tbh his suggestions imo are not the "healthiest" options. But I suppose its a vacation so maybe your willing to compromise some.

They don't rly have many healthy options at the restaurants there. They have fruit at the carts but you don't rly want to eat that. Also near the entrance in US they have a small bakery and sell sandwich with fruit. Most the other places are Burgers, pasta, and pizza.

As far as places to sleep...I use Hotwire or Priceline to book and its been pretty good to me. I haven't got a hotel I rly disliked yet.

We aren't uber-health nuts or anything or vegan or allergic to anything (though DW doesn't eat any type of seafood). We just eat healthy at home but are willing to cut a few corners on vacation as necessary. As long as there are items that are not fried, not swimming in butter and sauces, cooked in bad oils, etc. we'll be fine. :thumbsup2

I had seen the Allears menus but they haven't been updated in years so God only know how accurate they might be.

Alot of the restruants have A wide variety of healthy food options,CS or TS..I like A good healthy salad sometimes over fat laiden steaks, you would'nt know it at my size.:lmao:
