DS and I spent a fast four days trading lots of pins and eating very little.
This is what we observed.
Thursday, 9/4 - Walked up to Spoodles at 10:30 AM for a late breakfast. There were only three other tables occupied in the entire restaurant. Two more groups came in while we were there.
Friday, 9/5 -- ADR for dinner at Spoodles for four people at 7:15 PM. Came in at 7:00 with six people and we were seated within five minutes. I saw numerous walk-ups accepted and seated immediately or within minutes. Coupled and families alike. The restaurant was about 60% full.
Saturday, 9/6 -- ADR for dinner for two people at Flying Fish at 8:00 PM. We were on time and seated in less than five minutes. The restaurant was about half full.
Comments from friends also attending the pin event:
Friday, 9/5 -- They had an ADR for six people at 5:30 PM at California Grill. They showed up at 6:30 with nine people and were seated in less than 10 minutes.
Saturday, 9/6 -- Walked-up to Teppan Edo at 7 PM with four people. Waited about ten minutes to be seated.
Also interesting: I mentioned it was "free dining" month to several pin pals and they all stared at me blankly. These are people who all visit WDW more than once a year, and a few are even DIS members.
Moral of the Story -- DISpals tend to have a very myopic view of WDW travel. We know wwwaaayyy too much about everything at WDW and plan as if the rest of the world does too.
