I keep telling myself to post a thread with some things I had noticed on our cruise. Here they are:

Banana Boat ride: DO NOT lather yourself up too much with suntan lotion, and especially not sun oil! On our ride, there was a woman who literally could not sit in her spot on the ride because she was too slippery! After she went flying into the air a few times, she finally had to get into the boat that was pulling us. lol Poor lady was mortified. lol

Music in the hallways: Right before our cruise people were posting that it was not Disney music and they were disappointed about that. By the time we sailed, they were definitely playing Disney music. Not the loud, rowdy music, but nice relaxing background music. :) I was glad that it was indeed Disney songs :)

About halfway through the cruise, we got a phone call from Guest Services, asking us if we were aware of how much was spent on arcade cards. We were very well aware. LOL But I appreciated them taking the time to call us, and I told the CM that :) I think this may have been in response to some parents complaining at the end of the cruise when they saw how much their kids had charged for arcade cards. lol

I caught only the last part of the new "Pirates in the Caribbean" deck party. Please do yourself a favor and don't miss this. And bring your video camera if you have one! :) We're cruising again in 2 years, I hope they still have this deck party so I can record it next time. LOL

If you've been a part of a DIS meet thread, go to the meet. I am SO glad that I met the wonderful people that I had been "talking" to here on the boards. We had such a wonderful time together that several families are cruising together again in 2006! :sunny:

Visit the Cove Cafe for a refreshing iced or frozen flavored coffee. A CM named Lourdes works there and she will make any kind of drink that you want, as long as she has the ingredients, of course. One highlight of our day was when DH and I would stop in there in the late afternoon (we had late dining) for an iced or frozen caramel de-caf coffee :sunny: (I have pics of the Cove Cafe on my site).

So these were my observations on things that I didn't read about on the boards beforehand, and I wanted to mention them now... If anyone has any to add, please post them here! :)

Hi Seaspray

I am so glad you enjoyed your cruise! I have been reading your posts about your cruise/ weather related experiences and just haven't had an extra second to even reply.

AAhhhhh how I wish I was back on the Magic.

On our 9/9 Wonder, we had SOME Disney songs, but we mostly had Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and those type of songs.

Thanks for posting.

:rotfl: :rotfl: about the lady on the banana boat!!!!

I agree so much about the cruise meets. We did this and it was really fun. We still keep in touch with out tablemates that we e-mailed and linked our dining with. Barbara (Mom2Belle&PeterPan) and her family were so much fun!

I'm already talking with those on our 6-24-06 cruise. I hope the time will pass quickly. We might end up knowing quite a bit about each other over 624 days!!!!

I'll take Frank and Dean anyday...But would also like lots
of Disney music also... cheers, Gary

Hi SeaSpray: I loved being in the Cove Cafe every day on the 9/18 Magic. Several of us DISers met there one evening and had a relaxing time. Lourdes is great! I usually just drink skim milk cappucino, but she talked me into adding hazelnut. I didn't realize that the Cove had a full bar, as well, plus computer stations. I am looking forward to my two 2005 cruises and the Cove will be my daily destination.

Hi Seasprau:bounce:
Thank you for the post. I have enjoyed going to your web site wseveral times.. Great pics. You deserve a MICKEY BAR:mickeybar

The funny thing for us was that I just bought the "Dean Martin greatest hits" CD in June--so my kids were singing along--funny to see a 6 year old singing "Ain't that a kick in the head"--also had Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra, very relaxing for me--but on deck it was very disney, radio disney type stuff and much more festive.
I can't believe we just missed all this pirate stuff, deck parties, etc. (we cruised July 3). DS LOVES pirates. By the time we get back to the Magic he might be "too big". :(

I read so much about the Cove Cafe that I went looking for it on the Wonder. I even asked a cast member where it was and he looked very confused.

I didn't realize Cove Cafe is only on the Magic!

Thanks so much for the info on the banana boat. DH and I want to try it next time but I will be sure to use less sunscreen. As for the music, on our wonder cruise last month we hear alot of Dean and Frank. Which is fine by me as Frank Sinatra is my favorite singer. But in the main lobby they were playing a cd I have called Disney Instumental Impressions. It's all intrumental remake of all the romantic songs from the movies. It's a nice way to listen to Disney if you don't want to listen to the actual movie soundtrack, it's geared towards adults.

Zeke....there will be a Cove Cafe on Wonder after she comes out of drydock!!! The Wonder is going to have the same changes made that the Magic did.

SO will the Cove Cafe be for adults or teens? Isn't it where the teen room is now on the Wonder? It did look like a lovely, relaxing spot. By the way, the coffee there is extra $, isn't it?

Yeah! Disney music is back in the halls. That is one of the little things that sets a Disney cruise apart from all of the rest. If I wanted to hear Frank I'd go on another line. Disney Music is back!!! Kathy

Think I'd have to jump overboard if I heard Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin. Can't stand them! (no offence anyone, just not my thing) Hopefully they keep the Disney music! Can't see why they wouldn't. It is a Disney cruise. It's part of the "Magic".

I love your pictures and comments. I can't wait to have more time to look. It make me sooooooo excited for our cruise in two months. How old are your boys? My twins will almost be 14 when we cruise and I'm curious what your boys enjoyed doing.

Thanks for sharing!!

KarenB: Hi Karen! :wave2: I wish I was back there on the cruise too :teeth: Have you rebooked another DCL cruise? We're booked on the 8/19/06 cruise, and this time DSs will have their own cabin. LOL

jrp: Thanks for the Mickey bar! :teeth:

JJsmama: The Cove Cafe is for over 18 only. The teens club is now in the forward stack and is called "The Stack" on the Magic and will be called "Aloft" on the Wonder. The coffee drinks are extra at the Cove Cafe. I'm not sure if plain regular coffee is extra or not, we always had a frozen or iced, flavored coffee. They were $2.50 each and very worth it! :)

tksbaskets: My sons are 16 and 13 years old. My older son enjoyed The Stack but my younger son said it was mainly older teens and he didn't feel very comfortable there (he did play chess there a few times with my older son) so he ended up hanging out with some kids he met while at the arcade. At least your twin sons will have someone their own age already :)

Seaspray-My kids would be in heaven if they had their own cabin!!! No, we did not book another cruise, but we did do a 100 point add on at Saratoga Springs Resort while on the ship!! I know we will go again someday though. We used DVC points for our cruise, so we need to skip Disney for a year to get caught up on our point borrowing. We are heading west next summer-Las Vegas, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Grand Canyon, Sedona AZ.

Karen, that is exactly the vacation that we'd love to do! Well maybe not the Las Vegas part, but definitely Grand Canyon and AZ and other areas out that way :) Please let me know how you liked that trip when you get back!! :)

Thx so much for sharing your tips....I'm especially happy to hear about the Disney Music!!
