A few questions

Hi I was hoping for a little help with a few questions. Probably silly questions but we are complete newbies to cruising so therefore we know very very little :rolleyes1

Firstly - if we order about 10 Mickey bars from room service (at the one time) do we tip $1 per item or about $3 as there's nompreparation involved in Mickey bars?

Secondly - I know we can bring alcohol onboard in our carry ons but are we permitted to take alcohol back off the ship when we disembark....if we have beer left out of a carton? Or there's still some scotch left in the bottle?

Lastly - we are travelling concierge level & I am wondering if we can get breakfast bites on the last morning in the concierge lounge or not?

Thank you very much in advane for any assistance with these questions :goodvibes

Tipping is up to you, but I'd probably go with the $3-4 range on your example. The $1 per item guideline is more for plates of things or if you are considering multiple trays to get an order in.

We have never had an issue bringing alcohol we carried aboard back off when disembarking in the US.

I don't recall having breakfast available in the lounge on the last morning but someone who cruises in concierge more often may be able to answer that question. Two options that I know are available are the Main Dining room, assigned with your servers based on early or late seating, at the same restaurant you dined on the last night or Cabanas buffet.

Thanks for the reply cris :-)

I can't believe there's been over 260 views of this post and only 1 person can help........? Crikey!!!!

Guess we will just sail blind so to speak :confused3

I haven't sailed concierge, but I believe there is breakfast in the concierge lounge on the last morning -- possibly as late as 8:30am. I'm not sure it's a hot breakfast, though. Other breakfast options are your assigned breakfast (same MDR as prior night, early or late based on your dinner assignment) or Cabanas buffet which served until 8:00am but you can stay to eat until 8:30am.

Enjoy your cruise!

There are many lurkers here & not nearly as many posters. :goodvibes
Also most don't sail concierge so there are only a handful who could answer questions about that.

Also a good part of the US is getting waffled with a snowstorm at the moment. Maybe everyone is outside shoveling? :lmao: :cold:

Anyway, I would tip $3-4 as pp mentioned. I just wanted to add that there's no freezer in the cabins so if you order ice cream from room service it would have to be consumed asap.
Maybe concierge has freezers? :confused3 Perhaps someone with experience there can clarify.

Cheers for the replies!! Hmm I didn't know about the freezer situation...so thanks for the heads up. We will just check the fridge when we get to the room & if there's no freezer then we will eat them up straight after ordering!! Kids will love that I'm sure :rotfl2:

Didn't mean to be grumpy, it just seems the same old questions get replies & my questions (which I couldn't find answers to) weren't all being answered. It's all good though. Nothing dire, so we will work it out if no response (for the concierge lounge).

Hope everyone is fairing okay in the terrible weather conditions. We are having an absolute heat wave over her atm.....today was 41 Celsius and tomorrow is going to be worse

Wow, I think that translates to roughly 105 Farhenheit! By comparison, it's -15 F here today. I'll send some of my cold to you if you can send some heat up here.;)

As for freezers in the staterooms...I believe the Royal suites have full fridges with freezers, but the "regular" concierge staterooms have the same as all other staterooms (mini-fridge or cooler box depending on ship). But you may certainly order Mickey Bars multiple times a day and every day of the cruise. Enjoy!

Okay thanks for that...we will just order a couple times a day if we need to ;)

I'd be happy to send you some of our heat and receive some of your cooler weather!! If only :lmao:

Mind you -15 would kill me I think! We get down about as low as 0 (Celsius) or maybe 1 or below but that's it!! Crikey that sure is cold what you guys are getting :crazy2:

Wish I could answer your breakfast question for you, but we haven't sailed concierge. I would suggest emailing the concierge team as they will probably answer it pretty quickly for you (and then you can share the answer with us!)

As for alcohol, you can bring it back off the ship. Not sure if you are flying back home right after or going to another part of your vacation, just keep in mind the airline rules for liquids if you are flying home after the cruise.

Enjoy the cruise and while you are having a heat wave, I would trade that for the 10 inches of snow and below zero temps with even worse wind chill factor we have here right now! :goodvibes

Oh gosh I don't blame you...I would trade that horrible weather too. At least when we're hot we can jump in the pool or hop in the air conditioning. I HATE being cold!!! It's so hard to warm up :sad2:

Thanks for your reply. Yeah we're headed to Universal for a few nights before another 3 & a half weeks exploring Orlando. Too far for us to come to make it a quick visit....well that's what I told DH to sell him on the long holiday :rotfl2:

Good idea to email Concierge. Didn't think of that. Keep warm :sunny:

Sorry to jump in here but I just have to ask are you from QLD? We are I central QLD and are suffering from the heatwave pretty bad as well, it was 43 here today and suppose to be that again tomorrow

We stayed concierge this past summer. I don't recall seeing breakfast stuffs out in the lounge when we went through to give them our tip envelope, but we were going to our assigned breakfast, so we might not have been paying attention. I wouldn't count on it though.

I would not try to bring a open bottle back into the country. I have brought bottles of wine I have not drunk. When asked by customs I told the I had it.

I believe that concierge guests can order room service on the last morning. I don't think you can get a hot breakfast, though. There are hot breakfasts available in the restaurants, though.

I just traveled over Christmas. There was food in concierge lounge the last morning. I don't think you can order room service though. They want you out of the room at the same time as everyone else on board, not dining.

I am staying concierge in December and everything I have seen is that they have a continental breakfast in the lounge on debarkation day. I think the hours are reduced from the normal 7-10:30 am to 7 am - 9 am.

Here aris one link regarding breakfast in concierge on debarkation day:

Yes we are in Qld. Its terrible isn't it!! We are about an hour out of Brisbane to the Sth/West. Considered rural but not real rural haha

It would be horrid where you are. Far out. Stay cool mate.....crank the air con :thumbsup2 Good luck!

Thanks for all the other replies guys :-)

I've only been in concierge on the Magic. No lounge, but we were able to order a continental breakfast from room service on disembarkation day. It saved us a lot of last minute aggravation. I'm sure your concierge CMs will be happy to tell you what is available well before your last day aboard.

Your trip sounds very similar to ours :thumbsup2

This will be our first cruise and I couldn't think of a better cruise line than Disney!! We're from Brisbane also (absolutely melting in this 45 degree heat today) but are not taking our trip till December. At the moment, the plan is 1 week cruise, 2 weeks in Orlando and then 2 weeks at DisneyWorld. So far we have only booked the cruise as it's too early for flights to go up for sale for our dates. So our itinerary may change a little dependent on the best flights dates for sale :)

I'd love to hear about how your trip goes :cool1: We are sailing on the Disney Magic concierge 1 bedroom and have pretty much the same questions as you guys. Have you been to the States before? We've taken the boys over twice and we love it!! It definitely makes sense to stay for as long as you can, as it costs so much to get over there. Let me know if you'd like any suggestions for Orlando or Disneyworld as we were there a year ago and had an amazing time. :smickey:

Hey Brisbanemum nice to hear from you :)

This heat is a shocker isn't it!!! Hopefully we get some relief soon.

I can't wait for our trip. We leave BNE on May 2. We've been to the States before (& love it) but haven't been to the East side. So any tips you could offer on Orlando/WDW would be great. I'm struggling with how much to budget for food. We have 2 kids, 12 & 9 & they eat a lot more than they did the last time we were there. I've kind of worked on $200USD per day which includes lots of character dinings, Disney dining & treats etc. We tend to have the opinion of not going without when we are on holidays :-)

Do you think this will be enough? We are not extravagent eaters but love our drinks & kids love desserts :-) Am hoping my DD9 & I will able to share some meals.

We are only doing a 4nt on the Dream as my DS & I get terrible seasick, so it is a tester for us :-) I was going to change us to the new Magic ( in a 1 bedroom also) as it would've saved us quite a bit but my DD has her heart set on the Aquaduck and was freaked out by the look of the Aquadunk! Kids!!! :rolleyes1

I will let you know how our cruise & the rest of the trip goes :-) I've written down your dis name so I can message you when we get back (or while we are there if we get time).

Enjoy the planning for your Dec trip. Hope you snag some great airfares :goodvibes pixiedust:
