Hi!

We are visiting DLP for the very first time in just over two weeks - our tckets arrived this morning :yay: and I'm starting to plan - I have invested in skiwear and thermals for us and dug out the luggage. We are staying in the Cheyenne and have the half board vouchers, but and am trying to work out what the best way is to buy things whilst there - I have no idea how much money we will spend and don't really have a set budget for this trip, not sure if we should change up a load of money into euros or use a credit/debit card whilst there and change up a minimal amount of cash :confused3

Also can anyone tell me if I need to take baby things - nappies, baby food ect or is there a shop that sells these things and maybe fruit /milk for the children?? I'm not keen on eating a ton of take away type food whilst we are there so will need to find some way to feed the kids a fairly healthy diet in between breakfast and dinner.

Thanks, Jo.

Hi Jo

the cash v credit card is a personal choice. Everywhere accepts credit cards except the small food cards. I prefer to take my spending money in cash and take a credit card as back up. With the exchange rate being rubbish at the moment things are working out more expensive at DLP at the moment :confused3

The hotel shops offer a very limited selection of baby items. I would not rely on getting what you need from there. I have noticed they only carry a couple of different baby food and 1 size of nappies. There is a massive supermarket only one stop away on the train where you will find more selection.

Snacks for the kids - I know many of us pack crisps and other snacks in our cases for the kids

Hope this helps

There is also a small shop next to the Train Station that sells a range of everyday items including nappies and milk.

Also the petrol station next to the Santa Fe Hotel is an amazing place for essential items (although plasters are 9 euros per box  )

The only real choie in my view for credit/debit cards is if you bank with NAtionwide as they have 0 charges, otherwise I'd stick to cash, or Travellers Cheques if you want more security (change these at hotel for 0% commission, as opposed to in the parks, where I got stung before :()

we have a Postoffice travel card which we find really useful.
You put as many Euros on as you want and then use it like a debit card. there is no commision except if used in ATMs.

If we have any money left on it we then just keep it for next time we go and just add to it

Hi Jo

We too take cash and whatever is left (if anything :lmao: )we keep until our next trip.

As has already been said, it's fine to take your own food in there, no-one has ever stopped us anyway! I just pack things like cereal bars and water, although I generally find that the kids are so excited they aren't that bothered about stopping to eat :rotfl:

Have a great time!

i use cash but bring a credit card as a back up.

i would say anything you will definately need bring it yourself. this includes healthy food for your kids as you will find it hard to even find fruit in the park.
