A few questions about restaurants

I'm a newbie here, so lots of questions. I've made a lot of reservations and am trying to see what to keep and what to cancel for tusker house and garden grill is the breakfast or dinner better? Are the characters at both? I have a 7 year old girl and she likes princesses. Which is better, CRT, Akershus, BOG or 1900 dinner? Or should I do a combinations, maybe pick 2? I am planning on doing a 1900 breakfast so I don't think I'd want to eat there twice. For CRT, do lots of girls dress up and wear princess dresses? What about boys? I have a 5 year old son and I'm worried it wouldn't be for him and all about my daughter.

Characters are at all meals at Garden Grill and Tusker House. Food is solid all meals at both. I would review the menu to decide; some think Tusker lunch-dinner too African.

BOG is not a princess or character meal, so if you want princesses it is not a good choice. Akershus is less expensive than CRT, but the castle experience is fun. Lots of kids dress up. My son loves CRT and the princesses fuss on him.

That said, 1900 Park Fare dinner has the wicked stepsisters, who are some of the best character meets at Disney. Dinner and breakfast are very different in terms of both food and character, so doing both would be fine.

Thank you. So I think I will skip akershus and do the CRT dinner. Is the prince at CRT? Also, how do boys dress? My daughter will probably go all out in a big dress and all, any suggestions for my son? I might try to get BBB if possible but my trip is in April so not sure I can snatch a reservation for it.

AND now I have to think about maybe doing not breakfast and dinner at 1900. It sounds great.

Is the prince at CRT?

No. CRT is Cindy, then generally Snow White, Aurora, Ariel and Jasmine. Sometimes there's a different princess, but never a prince. Cindy's prince is at 1900 Park Fare dinner. They're starting up a new breakfast at Trattoria al Forno with a few princes but reservations for that aren't yet open.

Boys depends on age. I have seen little boys in prince garb, jedi robes, whatever. They get swords at CRT.

CRT is a great choice. Akershus was great as well although I would try CRT for the castle experience if you've never been. BBB is so fun I don't know how flexible your vacation schedule is but even if you can't find a reservation there now keep trying back as the trip gets closer some cancellations are likely to occur.

I'd make a reservation for Akershus just in case you can't get an ADR for CRT (which is difficult to come by).

i'm a big believer in you can't do too many character meals!!

if you can only do some, then for princesses, i would go for CRT if you can get it....
it's very special being in the castle..
though akershus is in a pretty setting too with good princess interaction....and is cheaper if that's an issue..

for the regular gang of characters (mickey, donald), Tusker House has great character interaction and good food.....and as already noted, at tusker house, the characters are at every meal..

1900 park fare for dinner is a hoot because of the very funny evil stepmother and stepsisters ....
and of course, you'll also get to meet the very sweet cindy and her prince...

another nice one in the parks is the Crystal Palace, where you have winnie the pooh and friends at all the meals in a pretty setting (even my anti-disney mom thought the building was pretty)...

we also enjoy the character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort...that one is only breakfast....Minnie's at that one...and a few others....haven't been there in a few years, but we enjoyed it (and the food was good :) )..

Although not officially a character meal we always enjoy dinner at BOG. We request the west wing, as we love the atmosphere in there, then after dinner we meet the beast (no belle unfortunately). The only problem is getting a reservation, you just need to be flexible and take whatever comes up if you want to go.
