A few observations from our recent trip

OMG that is so gross!!! And the table clearing is annoyingI can only imagine what their houses look like! It's not hard to walk into a bathroom and change a diaper in the baby station and it's also not hard to walk to a trash can and throw away your garbage! I am most defiantly bringing Clorox wipes. I guess when I think Of Disney I think of a ''perfect place''....OP said it perfectly ''Disney may be magical, but it can't magically make people act better''.

Ewwww! What in the world?!?!?! Changing a child where people eat!?!?! I was horrified when my son had a blow-out while in a high chair at Crystal Palace and wiped it down though nothing appeared to escape his clothes.

I have seen plenty of people leave their stuff on the table at CS restaurants and not just at Disney. My daughter who has to be reminded to clear her space at the table at home wonders what they are thinking.

What took the cake though was when I was at McDonald's one day and some guys were sitting at a table. Two had their food and the third guy was waiting on his. When the lady appeared with his bag, and called for him, he motioned for her to bring it to him.

She again called for him to come and get it and he again motioned for her to bring it to him. She jokingly asked him if he was going to leave her a tip. His friends were saying, "Dude, you're at McDonald's, get your own dang food."

Clorox wipes...thanks for the reminder. Have to add that to the packing list.

In April, at a table in front of Cosmic Ray's waiting on DW to get back from restroom with DD1....

Lady (who I now presume to be a nanny or traveling babysitter of some sort) wheels up with a baby in a stroller to whom I assume to be the mother sitting on a bench. Something is said and mother begins to berate nanny and smearing hand sanitizer on baby in stroller.

Then proceeds to lay baby on bench and change diaper. They then leave...no clean up of bench or anything.

I guess what is good for the goose is not good for the gander in their world.

Ok never thought of that and yes, I'm adding it to my list ..... GREAT IDEA!

We were recently in line for Peter Pan and as we neared loading we saw parents changing a diaper in the turn of the queue next to us by the trash can. People made a comment and as we started to load the CM asked me if that is what was happening. I said yes and she rolled her eyes and motioned to another cm. we missed what happened as we were busy flying over London to Never Never Land.

People are astounding.

Although I would NEVER change a diaper in a restaurant of any kind, sometimes there are emergencies. We had a bit of a quandary when after racing to ETWB at RD and now being right outside Maurice's cottage, we discovered DS 18mo had a package in his diaper. We we're afraid the smell was offensive to others, but didn't have time to leave the line and find a restroom.

In the end, I didn't end up changing the diaper in line because then I'd have another problem --- getting rid of it. So we all suffered silently.

Disney does need more changing tables.

To be slightly fair on point #2, there are some QS places (beyond WDW) where guests are not allowed to bus. Sometimes quick serve time dining establishments prefer to have staff sanitize the tables between guests. This is the procedure they use to know which tables need wiping.

Indeed, that's how the Ponderosa chain worked.

There's even an example in WDW- club level. On CL, you get your own food, but are sometimes told NOT to bus your table. (at some there are trays, but at others there is no place to put empty plates. I've had staff tell me specifically to leave the dishes on the table.)

I also think that's how CSR works, though it's semi-self-serve. (though I haven't been there in quite some time). Like Ponderosa, guests are often very confused about tipping as well.

I also saw the 'no ability to clear' at Universal- at least when I ate at Three Broomsticks and get the big platter. There's a place to put ordinary trays, but not the oversized ones that come with the platter. I tried to clear our table, and there was no place to put it. So I looked around and saw several other tables with trays, and added mine to a table that already had a tray.

Also, not the beat home the point, but on our recent stay, CM's were blocking access to tables unless guests had food. They were pretty strict. We did clear our table, but I got up mid-meal to use the restroom and was practically barred from returning to my table - since I did not have food- until I objected. Further, I can't explain this succinctly- but the way CM's were blocking access- they were in some cases making it very difficult for guests to clear their tables. I still managed, but I really could see how some guests might not bother fighting the CM's to get to the trash and back to the table. It was a struggle just to get condiments/napkins in at least two dining locations - Pinnochio's and Pecos Bill's. I felt sorry for the folks in Pinnocio's sitting near the condiment area. There was a continuous stream of folks shoving their seat. There was no aisle; just a maze of tables. It was no simple task to clear our table. Again, we did it, but it meant carrying our trays OVER other guests.

Since when? I was there in December and they were still calling them "protein spills". There was one in the Canada Pavilion and I heard the cast member call it in - twice!

Based on what I've heard CMs saying into their handsets, it's usually called a "protein spill". Although I did once hear an announcement that a guest had "lost their luggage" in Elevator (something), which was then shut down, presumably for cleaning.

My son says they say, "code V" when that happens. And yeah, they have to shut down the ride, major clean up hassle. Worse when people have their kid hurl over the side of the ride onto the tracks Imagine how long that takes to clean up...

That is when one parent leaves the line with the offender, and the other stays behind with the rest of the family. Sometimes being a parent means sucking it up and missing out on things. Not only did you have to suffer, but everyone else near you got to smell that smell.

1. I just saw this too at Pecos Bill. It was later in the day, and I was waiting for DS and DH to ride SM... I was horrified, but thought this had to be a one time occurrence. What are people thinking?? Would they do this in their own kitchen?? The CM did not see it and just swept around the table... Bring those chlorox wipes!!!!
