A few faces of Charley (pictures)

What an incredible collection of pictures, Dan!

I have such mixed feelings while looking at them....my heart goes out to all the people who have been so devastated by this killer storm, but I am so grateful that my community and my family was spared!

Incredible pictures, thanks Dan. My heart and lots of prayers go out to those effected by Charley. I just can't beging to comprehend what they must be going through.

I needed it......Faith:( These Pictures says it all folks, and brings back HORRIBLE memories of Hurricane Andrew.:( What is on the cover of the Miami Herald is nothing compared to Dan's.....thanks Dan.:(

Absolutely stunning pictures.....but so sad too.:(

Words can't expression how so many people, who lost everything, are feeling. :( It puts things into perspective though. No matter how tough you think you have it, things are so much worse for others. No matter how secure you think your world and your future is, your life could be ripped apart in seconds. On this earth, we truly don't control things...............the hand of God controls our destiny. We are simply passengers on the ride.

My prayers go out to all those who are in need. :(

Dan, you made me cry! I've been watching it on the local channels non-stop. I'm kind of on overload, but putting it all together the way you did really got to me!

Even after seeing these pictures and everything on the news I still can't comprehend the incredible toll that Charley took. Thanks for posting these Dan, as it really shed more light on everything.

Wow Dan, good job on that....it really makes you think about what is really important in life. Prayers to all that were affected by this horrible thing.

Hi Dan. I didn't look at the pictures because I'm posting from Dave's laptop, from our Disney resort. I'll take a look at them when I get home later this month.

Being in Disney, we were pretty isolated from what was going on in the real world, even tho we did see/hear the tremendous wind, and some damage around the whole Disney resort. But nothing like what we've seen on TV. It was very much a party atmosphere here during the storm, and a shocker to us to to see and hear on the news what happened in other places. My mom has been trying to get through to her elderly friend in Punta Gorda. It's very sad.

Today we saw the treehouses at Disney, near Saratoga Springs...are the treehouses still used?? There were A LOT of trees up against them, from what we could see from the road. It made me wonder, driving past OKW, with all those trees surrounding it, if those buildings were hit, and how the other resorts fared.

The people of Florida affected so devastatingly by this storm are in our thoughts and prayers. I know how much I worried about Dave flying in on Friday, but were lucky he arrived before anything started up, altho it was a bumpy flight. After the storm, it was over with for us, but those poor people we've seen on the news...I just can't imagine what they have to deal with.

It is like a look back in time for me. Almost 12 years ago that it what my neighborhood looked like. Can't imagine the devastation! I can remember the devastation very clearly. One wondeful memory of it though was Disney sending a cast down to entertain us in Homestead. Mickey Mouse and his friends gave so much magic in a time the was hell.

Wow, Dan....believe it or not, I am saving this to show to my family...since they do not have utilities yet, they have yet to see any images other than ones nearby. My folks are getting news by their battery powered radio, and I was able to grab a few hotel rooms for my brother and extended relatives of his who were in for their annual beach vacation on Ft Myers beach. Thay have not been allowed back to the beach yet, hoping for tomorrow. There is a strict curfew enforced....8 pm.m So the photo of "looters will be killed" kinda goes with that. Even those with minor water damage will be faced with a nastier situation than normal, since they can't clean up w/out poere, and the heat causes mold and rot to set in extremely quickly. Everything begins to have an awful odor and since electric is the main source of power even for cooking...simply boiling water is no simple task.
You have been able to really tell the story....thank you.

Pam

Those are so hard to look at. I clearly remember being 7 and losing my home to a natural disaster (a flash flood). Many prayers to all those that were affected.

Wow, I'm just speechless. Dan, you always find the best pictures to show us.

Thanks for putting that together. I haven't seen much TV this weekend, and those pictures speak volumes :(.
