A farewell to the magic

I think we are getting off-topic per the original post, but to be fair, nobody really goes to all four WDW parks in one day... even though their park hopper ticket allows for it. You would spend too much time traveling in between parks and that would leave little time to actually enjoy the parks. Most people go to one, max two. Universal is actually easier to hit both parks in one day given how compact it is. I think the same price for either is fair because you can only do so much in one day, and both will give you a full day of fun activity.

I'm not going to argue with people. Its silly to insinuate universal is a better value from any perspective

Every time there is a price increase; doesn't matter whether it's for tickets, resorts, dining packages; or an announced reduction or cancellation of a service or attraction; the YAGE posts follow. Every.Single. Time.

You need to do whatever you feel you need to do. But the harsh reality is that Disney doesn't care. Picture a big Mickey hand waving Buh Bye. And that same Mickey hand waving Hello to the newbie taking your place.

Bwahahahaha! I have never heard the term YAGE before, lol. I looked it up! So glad there is a name for this now! :rotfl2:

And, FWIW, I sincerely hope that all people who feel compelled to make these type of posts are putting their thoughts into writing in the form of an email to Disney. Because honestly, posts on a message board mean nothing. An email to Disney may mean nothing as well, but at least you're complaining to the source.

I feel like these types of posts are a way for the poster to feel justified in their feelings. Feelings are feelings, you don't need internet strangers to back you up on them. :confused3

There are plenty of new parents that will replace those who no longer go and to them the new price is fine as they never new the old price.... I will disagree that the magic is no longer there as by far Disney still does bend over backwards to please a guest and CM's go out of their way to make a child's day.. I have many recent examples...
I am on my way out because of child's age so the price increases..... I own DVC and can sell my contracts for almost what if not what I paid for them almost 12 years ago... and someone will replace me as fast as I can list my contracts... So Disney looses me getting a discount room but paying for a regular room being I still have a enough non expiring park hoppers to last me for at least 5 more trips??? either way they win... sad story no... you want to go pay the price or go elsewhere that is a personal choice.. But comparing Disney to six flags or some other places please...that is reason to pay whatever Disney asks. Universal has its good and bad as does Disney... But Universal is as close as you can come to a comparison and it is just not the same nor in completion with Disney and likely never will. Comparing them is like comparing an apple to an apple tree please compare financial statements first HUGE $$$$$$$$ difference in resources.

It doesn't matter what I think. If guests would rather pay basically the same amount for the corners of two parks at Universal than they would for four entire parks at WDW, that's what they will do.

Seeing a lot of praise for Universal and slams on the Disney parks on this very site, which concentrates on Disney. I don't know how much of that is actually a visceral reaction to the feeling of a lot of longtime Disney fans that Disney doesn't care about them anymore.

The difference is Universal is actually actively making their parks better. Disney is not.

I would gladly fork over $164 to Universal before I give Disney one more cent. Universal is changing, Disney is stale. And shuttering all the things that set them apart.

My $$$ goes to where I see the value. I don't see it at Disney.

Really? Star Wars Land or Toy Story Land, those don't ring any bells? Have you seen New Fantasyland and all it encompasses? Frozen in Norway? The reboot of Soarin? Rivers of Light? Still you say nothing new?????

Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land will not be completed for years. Most of those who complain don't want reboots. They want new attractions. They want rides, not light shows. New Fantasyland got a lot of jeers because it had a dark ride that is an exact duplicate of something in California, and a kiddie coaster, and everything else was shows or characters. You can't please everybody.

I was just starting to become a Disney junky. Always wanted to go as a kid but we never did. Went for the first time when I was 20. Once again at 35. Now I have my future retirement home that we purchased in Clearwater and we head down 3 or 4 times a year. We took my 6 year old daughter for her first Disney trip in October of 2014. Stayed at Universal last April but the family decided Disney was the preferred destination. This April we've booked a split stay at the Yacht Club and Poly. I was very excited until the last few weeks. Reading too many stories of diminished service and jumping prices. I can't help but feel, as cliche as it sounds that some of the magic has been sucked out of our upcoming trip. I hope I'm wrong and this feeling passes.
