A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

The boys almost had the pool all to themselves it looks like :goodvibes

It is too bad you did not enjoy your dinner at Shutter's, not sure if I ever read a review of there before, maybe that is why. I am the same way with chocolate cake, DH could inhale the stuff but me not so much. It figures about the rain when you had no umbrella or ponchos.............I almost bought a new umbrella the other day at target then passed on it but have to go back and get it, its only about 4 inches long would be so easy to take along anywhere but especially at Disney.

I almost forgot Congrates on booking the 3 day cruise. I will probably never get to take a cruise since I want to have a veranda and those rooms are so expensive

The quiet pool was pretty empty that afternoon! :goodvibes

Shutter's was okay I guess, just not anything great and not really for us.

I love chocolate candy, chocolate ice cream, brownies, hot fudge, etc., but just don't really care for chocolate cake. :confused3 Weird, I know!!

We had 2 umbrellas and about a dozen ponchos -- in the room! :upsidedow

Thanks! I'm still not sure the cruise will actually happen, but everyone said to book as soon as the itineraries came out because the prices will do nothing but go up from there....I booked a room with a large porthole. I knew I wouldn't be able to stand an inside room and didn't want to pay for a veranda for a 3 night cruise.

I do not like the idea of a totally inside cabin either, a large porthole sounds ok, since you can see out, I know you can go walk out on the deck but it just seems like I would find I needed to be able to see out of the room itself. Are they running any deals for the time your booking? I know I always see things like kids sail free from Disney but I never seriously priced a cruise out myself. Strange how the priceing works with cruises

No, there were no deals. Actually I think the price is ridiculously crazy for a 3 night cruise, and to do a 4 night would add on nearly another $1000. :faint:

I have seen those 'kids sail free' specials too. But they have only been for the Mexican Riviera cruise.

The cruise pricing in really weird. All the categories and decks and cabin choices are all so confusing. But one nice thing is that you can pick your actual room when you book. I wish we could do that at the resorts!

See how much attention I have paid to those ads? I had no idea they were for the Mexican Riviera cruise. I know once Disney sent me an offer for a cruise that was very near to sail time and it sounded like a great deal if I could have gone spur of the moment. When I was going to TA classes Disney was just starting in the cruise business and I was so excited about it, still haven't gone o a cruise yet , just another phase of my procrastinating ways :rotfl2:

Well, if you have to do laundry on vacation, there's no better place to do it than by the CBR quiet pool. It looks like the boys almost had the pool to themselves.

Too bad the meal at Shutter's was less than memorable. The pictures of the food looked good though.

I somehow missed your post about booking a cruise. Was it a Disney cruise? I've been researching a 3 day Disney cruise with the possibility of going before our WDW vacation. Like you, I haven't been able to quite justify the amount of money it costs though.

Yeah, it's a lot to learn. Sometimes it seems like it is too much work for me!!:upsidedow Much easier to just go to WDW!!

True - doing laundry by the quiet pool wasn't so bad! :goodvibes

Yep - it's a Disney cruise. May 2013. Since it is Thur-Sun, we would probably do it after 4-5 nts at WDW. But yes, it is very costly for such a short trip. I still don't know what we will do.....

That's the same one we are looking at. I wish they had a cruise that left on a Wednesday instead of a Thursday. The cost of the cruise and then six days at Disney ended up being several hundred dollars over the cost of an 11 day stay at the CBR with dining. I can't quite make up my mind if we want to book or not.

Look at those 2 little fish having so much fun in the pool! Although I doubt if your DS12 would like being called a little fish. Neither one is so little any more, but they have come such a long way in their swimming in just a few short years!

Those laundry rooms looks so very neat and well-kept. That's one laundromat I wouldn't mind going to. I usually hate when I have to go wash a big comforter or something that won't fit in my washer, because most laundromats give me the willies.

When I was reading the Shutters part, it was like I was reading a mystery novel and anxious to find out whodunit. I was hoping it was a 10 out of 10 since you have had some disappointing meals, and especially since you and your DH were having a nice dinner with just the 2 of you. :sad2: From the pics, I don't think I would have liked the food either. Rather unappetizing looking. And your DH's dish looked like a child's portion! That hardly looked like enough food for a grown man. But I guess it was enough in this case!

But the good news is that you look like a couple of cute newlyweds in your pic. I love your dress!

Cute T-shirt - I hope you find it in your size!

Y'all are too funny going back to DTD! ;)

I know, isn't it ridiculous??? That's how I look at it too -- I could have SEVERAL more days of vacation if we just go to WDW.....

Yes, the boys have come a long way with their swimming!! A few years ago they wouldn't have been jumping in the pool like that, especially not DS10! They had a blast swimming on vacation. I think we hit the pools about 6-7 times between CBR and the Poly!

I guess if you have to go to a laundromat CBR is the place to go! :thumbsup2

Yeah it sure wasn't a good day for food that day. :upsidedow I thought DH's meal looked pretty gross. I think it had goat cheese or something on it. He ate it though. :rotfl:

Newlyweds :rotfl2: I think we are a bit old for that!!! But thanks!! I knew as soon as I saw that dress last summer that I had to have it to wear at CBR! :goodvibes

Yes, silly me I thought this would be our last trip to DTD on this trip......:rolleyes1

Shelly - Liking the pictures of the grounds and pool of CBR. I was surprised that they didn't serve jerk chicken or rum cake at Shutters - classic foods of the Caribbean - too bad it wasn't the better meal, but glad you and your husband were able to spend it alone together.

Good report today!

Congrats on booking the cruise for 2013! :cool1:

Thanks Sea! Yeah I think jerk chicken was what I had a Olivia's at OKW that time and it was so good.

Yes, at least DH and I had an hour or so of alone time. That doesn't happen too often!

Thanks, still thinking about ditching the cruise though......And coming out to DL and Hawaii!!!!!!! Still not sure.....

Oh Cool! I hope I didn't disappoint you on those prices I found on Aulani. LOL! It would be so great to set up a split vacation like that!

No, I already knew. Believe me, I've priced it several times. :rotfl: We would probably only do about 4 nights in Hawaii anyway. We'll see.....It's still quite a ways off so anything could happen!

Your post reminded me why we've never tried Shutters and probably never will.

Congrats on booking your cruise...if you don't change your mind between now and then!

Did you ever find the shirt for $19??? Or are you keeping us in suspense until the DTD update?

I'm so glad you got to have a dinner date! I love that you have a picture (I've noticed a few) of just the two of you too! We always forget that!

I'm sorry it was less than stellar. I chuckled a bit that they just opened and had to give you a beeper for three minutes. You'd think they could just seat you! I guess the reports were rather accurate about the food there, huh?

Good to have a "free" evening! Why not go to DTD?!

Sounded like a nice dinner to yourselves w/out kids. Sometimes those are nice even if it's a family vacation.
I missed the post about booking the cruise. Disney cruises are so EXPENSIVE that's why we haven't done one. Our friends did a 3 day cruise this past year and it cost the same as our week at the Poly. That is INSANE!!! No matter how much I'd LOVE to do a Disney cruise- I just can't justify the cost. I think I'd rather stay a week at the Poly. :)

Yeah you can really get a better and cheaper meal in the food court. :thumbsup2

Thanks! It's a good thing we have a lot of time between now and the cruise because I'm still confused about it. :upsidedow

You'll find out about the shirt soon enough....:rolleyes1

Thanks! DS takes really good pics anymore, so we get lots of DH & I now! :goodvibes

I know, I was thinking the same thing -- a beeper? Really? There were less than 10 families checking in at the time!!

I love when we end up with free time at WDW!! :thumbsup2

We rarely get an evening to ourselves, so it was nice. :goodvibes And the kids didn't want to come anyway!! I'm glad they didn't, they would have hated it. :rotfl:

Exactly what I am thinking about the cruise -- I just don't know if it's going to be worth the cost.....:confused3

Such CUTE shirts! :shamrock:

I thought they were really cute. They had a pink jacket in the same design but it was really expensive. :scared1:

We got ready and headed out to DTD and were there in no time. We went straight to Once Upon a Toy, where DH surprised the kids and bought them the new Phineas & Ferb game for the Wii!

DS10 thought about buying this toy, but decided to save his $$ for the Lego store. Again.

Next up was World of Disney. Where I found the shirts again. And the pink ones were marked down and they had my size!!:goodvibes

Then it was onto the Lego store.

DS10 spent another wad of cash in there and then we stopped at Goofy's Candy Store for a snack and then headed back to CBR to go to bed.
