A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

You guys got quite a lot done before breakfast :thumbsup2
You brave brave soul going on space mt. :rotfl:
I don't think I ever saw Mickey's toon town , the last place I recall is Mickey's birthday land, I am wondering now if toon town was there back in '97 or if we just skipped it maybe :confused3
I do so hate all the construction walls all over the place, I better warn DH about it before we get there and I have to listen to him grumble about it.
I love Crystal Palce for breakfast can't wait to see your review.

I know what you mean about only going on certain rides once. My DSs wanted to go on SM again while DH and I sat and waited. I was really starting to feel my age this trip. :(

It looked so empty that day!!!!!:cool1: How wonderful!!!!

Love the pic of the guy smiling behind you----------- I sorta do the same thing when I see people taking pics- but that's just how I roll. :upsidedow

The construction is certainly interesting. I can't wait to see the finished product.
In a couple of years.:)
If I can I wait that long to go back.
Ya think???:confused3

Thanks for a great update!!!:goodvibes

PS Teri.... Go Gators!! Chomp, Chomp.;) I woke at 6 am not able to sleep I'm so excited. I soooooo wish we were at The Swamp today. It really stinks to live so far away. You goin to your game? Geaux Tigers-- Beat those Wildcats!

No, watching at home. And we look terrible. :sad2: Morning game + team we should beat easily = recipe for disaster. At least that's how it has always been at LSU. Add to that our QB coming back from suspension and being put in on 4th and goal, replacing the guy who has got us to 4-0.......:headache:
Come on, Tigers!!! Maybe we're just saving all our good plays for next week. ;)

Wow, it looks like a great morning in MK!:goodvibes
You got on a lot in a short period of time! Looking forward to reading about your Crystal Palace breakfast...I have been trying to snag a breakfast ADR for our November trip, but no such luck!

It was a great morning! We were so happy that the crowds were so low and the heat wasn't that bad!!

Keep checking - you'll probably be able to grab a CP ADR! :wizard:
Dear Shelly, my wealth of information ;) do you know what all the construction going on is going to result in? Any new attractions that you know of? It seems like it has been going on for so long!

The guy in the picture behind you made me :lmao: I wonder where that guy is right now. OK, I always wonder weird stuff like that.

It really looks like the crowds were not big at all! Unless it was the calm before the storm. But I hope not! :goodvibes

Hope you have a great weekend!

P.S. to Jodi: Go Gators! Destroy the Tide, pleeeaasseee!

Fantasyland is getting a huge expansion! Lots of new things coming, but it's going to be awhile before it's all done.

I wonder where that guy is right now too!! :lmao:

MK never did get too crowded that day, it was wonderful! :goodvibes

We really did! :thumbsup2

I used to be able to go on Space several times in a row. Not anymore. :sad2:

IDK when Mickey's Toontown opened. It has been there ever since we started going in 2005.

Yes, the construction walls everywhere sure are ugly, but what are ya gonna do? :upsidedow I sure hope it's all worth it in the end!

I know what you mean about only going on certain rides once. My DSs wanted to go on SM again while DH and I sat and waited. I was really starting to feel my age this trip. :(

I used to be able to do them several times in a row -- just a couple of years ago. But not now. Once is it. :sad2: Getting old bites!! :headache: And poor DS12 has to go by himself if he wants to keep going because DH & DS9 don't do thrill rides!

It was a wonderful day!! :goodvibes I'm pretty sure DS12 & I were texting you and Drew all morning telling you how great it was!! :cool1:

I'm going to have to start doing that when I know I am in other people's pics -- smile & wave

I have a feeling you'll be back a couple of times before the Fantasyland construction is done! ;)

So did everyone hear about the room discounts coming out for the winter???

I got an email yesterday for Disney Visa Cardholders only and it says it will go to the general public on Wednesday.

Dates: Jan 2, 2012 - Feb 20, 2012:

25% off Values, but only 20% off ASMo
30% off Mods, but only 25% off POFQ
35% off Deluxe and Villas, but only 30% off AKL & Poly

Interesting....I don't think any room discounts ever came out for fall dates and this one is for such a short time. I wonder if bookings are up for fall and spring and they are only going to give out discounts for the winter....:confused3

I wish they had included just a few weeks, a 35% discount would be way better than FD for going in March. Oh well:sad1:
I did go play around with some Jan and Feb dates and there seems to be tons of availability for the dates I checked but then Jan and Feb are normally slow times I think :confused3
The time I went in late January it seemed busy to me but then again I was there on a weekend too.

You thinking about another "snowbird" trip Shelly?

Awesome morning at MK!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 You definitely got a bunch of stuff in before breakfast!

I know what you mean about the rides too. I'm still able to ride things multiple times, but last year we did ToT a few times back to back, and I felt it  I think this trip may be one of my last times that I can pull it off :sad2:

5 more days!!! :cool1:

It feels weird to be going for such a short trip though. We have never gone for anything less that like 8 days  I think I am going to blink and it will be over.

I wish it included all spring!!! :headache: We were thinking about May or August......But now I find myself sitting here doing Disney math all morning and considering a "snowbird" trip......:rolleyes1

You'll have to let me know if the shorter trip is worth it or not. How many days are you going for? We are considering a 5 or 6 day winter-hold-us-over trip, but I'm just not sure it will be worth it to justify the airfare for that short of a trip....:confused3

Great update and pictures Shelly! I just love how you make us feel like we are right there with you on the trip. :)

Had an insanely busy week, so I wasn't on the boards much. Going to Walt Disney's favorite restaurant, the Tam O'Shanter tonight with my wife to celebrate my birthday - I turned 50 on Tuesday - looking forward to it!

Sea :cool1:

We will have 4 full days there, we arrive Thurs night and leave Tues morning. I feel like if you have AP's, then it may be worth it if you can get a room discount.

But, for the shorter trips having to pay for tickets is SO annoying. It was over $600 for the 2 of us for 4 days. :scared1: I just kept thinking "Like $50 or $100 more would get us both 10 day tickets..." :sad2:

We aren't paying for the room at all though, so that helps us. I'm guessing that this trip is costing a little less than half of what a normal long trip to WDW would cost us, but that is because we aren't paying for lodging. If you can get something for free/already paid for/cheap I am guessing it would be worth it, but it's hard to say...

I'll let you know how I feel about mini trips when we get back. :thumbsup2 I'm still excited just to get a taste of the magic to hold me over for a little while :cloud9:

Oh Shelly, why did you have to tell me about those room discounts?:rotfl2:
Now I need to convince DH to take a trip in February! We were thinking of going in March, but with a 35% discount, February seems like a better option!
Thanks for the info!

I too used to be able to do much bigger coasters or do them over and over again when I was a teenager, but not anymore. :sad2:

Other than that, what a productive start to the morning, even before breakfast!!

I think a "snowbird" trip sounds like fun as far as going for a shorter trip, this upcoming trip in March(5nights) will be the shortest we ever took when flying, I can certainly understand how the cost to fly for a family of 4 can make or break the budget for a short trip we have done 5 day trips before when we drove and quite honestly the first 3 days of any trip for me at least seem to last and last and then it seems like time speeds up and whether we have stayed for 5, 7 or 10 days the rest of the trip just flys by. Our last trip was 7 days and it did seem to go by a bit slower since we took our time more going back to the resort each afternoon so that each day almost seemed like 2 days, if that makes any sense.
I did do a weekend trip in January, 2006 Fri, Sat and Sunday, left around noon on Monday(resort day) and it was totally worth the airfare to getaway during the winter.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SEA!!!!!! :bday:

Welcome to the 50+ club!

All caught up! Sorry you were disappointed with Via Napoli - I hope my family enjoys it in November because I really liked it when I went with my friend last fall.

I love the picture of you & your DH walking up Main Street holding hands. :goodvibes Looks like day 2 was off to a great start. :thumbsup2

It is WAY too cold to go outside today. So, I could really use a taste of Disney to inspire me to pack. :goodvibes

popcorn::

No pressure

We actually have a 4 night getaway booked for Jan (the kids have a 4 day weekend for MLK bday). But we are dvc members so we don't have to pay for the room and we have annual passes this year. So we really only had to pay for airfare and we got 2 1/2 of the tickets free with credit card points! So excited! We are staying at Wilderness Lodge for the first time. And it is a lso a suprise for the kids! They have no idea and won't know until we get to the airport.
We did Via Nappoli last year and the pizza was pretty good, but the calamari was the best i've ever had! It was expensive though! We didn't have a meal plan and a large pizza is around $40!

That's what I can't get past -- the park tix for a short trip. :scared1: Like you said for just a little bit more you can get 10 day tix. :upsidedow So between that and the airfare for 4 I don't think a short trip is in the cards for us right now...

I can't wait to hear about yours though!!! :yay:
