A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

BLT was our 1st choice for this trip, but when we started to read how it was a DVC property - we weren't sure it would be for us. We didn't want to be hounded like you are at some all-inclusive resorts to buy into time shares etc. So, the Poly it is! We will definately stop by there for shopping and lunch! :)

I love the figurine of the original five - so cute!

My aunt and uncle just bought that iPad cover when they were in Disneyland this summer - they love it!

I also liked "Werewolf Jack" - so cute!

They had a lot of neat stuff in there!

Thanks!:)

Hi Shelly!
Too bad about it starting to rain when you were about to go in the pool...I guess that's Florida weather! Great pics of the shops! I love shopping at WDW!:lovestruc
I cannot wait to hear where you ate, but I think I have an idea.:goodvibes
10 more days until we arrive at the Poly!

Yeah, we knew it looked like it could rain but we were hoping for the best! Oh well, we got to go back later!

We love shopping at WDW too! :cool1:

10 days!!!! Well actually 9 now, huh?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana: I'm so excited for you!!

What a fun little shopping journey! When we stayed at BLT I always felt so "exclusive" since you supposedly could only get in with a KTTW card.

Ohana!!!! I have GOT to eat dinner there soon. Maybe next trip.

LOVE the picture of Wolfdog Jack!!!

BLT is very nice and very different. It was very quiet in there when we went in.

You've got to get to Ohana!! ::yes::

Wolfdog Jack :lmao:

Jack's costume was so cute! I made Lucky pup a fried eggs with bacon and he walked in a parade. He did such a good job! My DS7 was Michael Jackson which was pretty cute too, he got great reactions from people. One of the neighborhood houses did a haunted trail through their yard, it was awesome and I am completely overrun with candy!

I bet your dog was adorable too!! Sounds like you had a very fun Halloween! :cool1:
Oh my gosh Jack has some sharp teeth!!!! :scared1:

Can't wait to hear about your Ohana dinner!!! We went to Ohana for dinner on our honeymoon in 2001 and again in 2004 and both times were delicious and fun!

Yes he does!!!!!!!!:scared1:

Ohana is coming up soon!:thumbsup2

Those dang afternoon August/September rain storms. So intrusive to pool time. It looked so empty, too. :(

You guys looked so cute, all ready for dinner- love your dress!:goodvibes

I can't believe you guys were able to walk across the crosswalk into BLT! How nice since you might like to stay there one day. Gotta be able to check all the resorts out. How many do you have left to see? The views from the Contemporary are wonderful. Maybe one day I'll stay there........:)

Can't wait to hear about your 'Ohana experience in detail. My kids HATED it when we ate there this time.:scared1: Said it was the worse meal of the entire trip! (Might've had something to do with the waitress being bad, them being tired and knowing that a certain couple of friends were waiting for them outside.):rolleyes1

:rotfl:

I know you know all about those late summer thunderstorms down there!! :scared1:

I didn't think we'd be able to walk across to BLT without a room key, but we went right in! I was afraid we were going to get kicked out the whole time! :upsidedow

I hope we didn't ruin your Ohana experience! It seemed like you were in there forever!! :faint:

My kids were less than impressed with Ohana's food too. But I knew they would be.

Joining in!

We were there the same dates - though we haven't had any park overlap yet. I'll have to look for myself in the background of your pictures! ;)

We are actually staying at the CBR in December - there have been so many bad reviews of it lately - it's really nice to see one that is so positive.

Looking forward to hearing more!

:welcome:

I hope we were in the same park sometime!! Wouldn't that be hilarious to see yourself in one of my pics?! I took several hundred, so there's a pretty good chance. :rotfl:

How was your Aug/Sept trip?

I hope you have a nice stay at CBR in December! :wizard:

yeah,..I thought you were ditching us too!!! I have my box almost finished! I only need to add the kids snax and breakfast bars and it'll be ready to go on Monday morning!!! So,...I gotta call the Poly today and get specs on the address to ship it to...attn:me!!!!!! :yay:

I have the suitcases out, and won't pack until next week....we are still wearing our shorts!!!! So...next week I should pack on Wed or Thursday-except for last minute things, like a flat iron! LOL!! Kids are ready to start packing, but they won't have clothes to wear between now and then if we do it now!!! Our crazy weather!

YAY for suitcases being out and packing almost started!! :cool1:

I can't believe you are still wearing shorts down there. Lucky!!

We've only stayed at one DVC resort -- OKW. And we didn't get bothered by any sales people!

The Poly is wonderful, you will have a great time! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

We had a great time on our aug/sept trip - mostly because it was a mom's trip -- no kiddos! I love going with my girls - but it was just so exciting to be there without anyone asking anything of me - or complaining/whining. Rather liberating!! :thumbsup2 But...it was sooo hot and rainy. We were back a few weeks ago for a long weekend for the food and wine festival and the weather was gorgeous. I actually wore a light weight jacket. I don't think I've ever been when it wasn't blazing hot! Also, rather liberating :thumbsup2

SOoo excited for our trip. Literally - CAN NOT WAIT. hehehehehehe

I bet!! :cool1:

We've never been without the kids, so I don't know what that would be like!

I actually enjoyed the heat much more than I thought I would. Probably because our trip before that (Nov 2010) was way colder than expected! :scared1:

Thanks! I bet the Poly is spectacular! Can't wait to read about it. :goodvibes

Lots of Poly coming up soon! :thumbsup2

You guessed it – dinner was at Ohana! :cool1: Yes, it would have made more sense to eat at Ohana later in the week when we were staying at the Poly. But, remember we had the DDP (free) during the first half of the trip. So we wanted to take full advantage of that and do our expensive meals while they were free!!

There was a long line at check in. Actually there were 2 lines – one for people with ADR's and one for people without. Luckily the ADR line was moving fairly quickly!

We were seated very shortly after we checked in.

As you probably already know, Ohana is served family style. They bring some of everything right to your table. And it seems like it is never going to end!! They even brought out extra food for the kids since they didn't really care for much of what they were serving.

And just when I thought I couldn't eat another thing – out came the famous Banana Foster Dessert! :faint: I didn't really think I would care for it, but I gave it a try anyway. Oh my gosh – it was so good!!

Wow that was quite the feast! DH loved it. Some of it was a little funky for me, but most of it was very good and I really enjoyed it. :goodvibes

Rating: 9 out of 10

Up Next: A Poly and GF tour

Ohana looks delicious! We have never eaten there, and I tired but didn't succeed at getting an ADR there for this trip. I am still trying though!
You are getting me so excited for our trip- I can't wait to see the Poly for the first time! We have never even had a meal there!

Mmmmmm!!!! I love LOVE love O'hana!

It is our favorite restaurant on WDW property and we make sure that we get an ADR every trip. :lovestruc:cloud9::cloud9::lovestruc

Glad to hear you liked it overall! But, I'm curious what things on the menu were funky for you.

We stayed at the BWI in 2010 and we loved being able to walk to Epcot!! :goodvibes So I'm thinking every other time between the MK and Epcot area would be nice!! :cloud9:

I think they would really enjoy the YC/BC and SAB too! :yay:

Well how much snow did you actually get??? I hope you didn't lose your power!

Jack barked and growled at the snow. It was hilarious!!:rotfl:

I had quite a few pages to catch up on. We were without power for 4 days something like 108 hours give or take an hour or two:scared1: I am not sure about the snow total had to be 10-12 inches at least since it was up past Bellas side she could barely make a path through it but luckily it has been melting fast the days have been rather warm 50-60 but the night not so much, I think I was the coldest I have ever been. I officially hate Ct.
Ended up losing more food only about $100 this time instead of $400, I swear I may just stop buying anything ahead. There are still as of tonight 400,000 plus still without power.

I love Jacks costume and wow he looks quite wild in that one pic,:scared1: what big teeth. That is funny about him barking at the snow.

Your boys looked quite scarey in their costumes too! They cancelled Halloween here, that was a first for me.

I think you lucked out that the door to BLT was not locked, I know I read the same thing that you needed a key to access getting into BLT. When I booked CR for March I asked DH if he wanted to stay at BLT since he said he likes how it looked but he said no. Maybe someday.

I an anxious to try 'Ohana , I love pot stickers and the noodles and brocolli, DH is a big meat lover but only does shrimp if it is breaded , I will do the shrimp and salad, but DH does not like salad with dressing so it should be interesting. I had no idea you could get kids chicken nuggets, fries and mac& cheese, that is good to know.

I liked the D&B bag you were looking at, I would love to have one but they are kinda expensive

Can't wait to see more Poly pics :)

How nice the CM's brought out different items for the boys! That was a lot of food!!!! I could go for some of that bananas foster right now! Yum!

Well, I'm sold on Ohana! If they bring food like chicken nuggets for the kids, we'll be fine! The salad looks like the one they serve at the Spirit of Aloha too. And the bread! Yummy!
My DH will be happy with Meat, Meat and Meat! I'll eat the other stuff too!

My DH was looking online today at another Disney fan site and it has some tentative opening dates for the new Fantasyland stuff - most were October 12, 2012!!! 10/12/12? We plan to be there the following week!!! :yay: If all goes according to our plans, we'll arrive about 10/14! I'm guessing which week the kids have their fall break, but it should be that week.

So besides Ohana, I may be trying some of the new restaurants!!!

Oh dang.... OHANA!?! Favorite restaurant ever. Your pictures are making me hungry!
I didn't even know they had mac and cheese and chicken nuggets there!
Mmm I'm glad you enjoyed the dessert. It's the best. :lovestruc

Maybe we'll be there at the same time!! :thumbsup2 That would be awesome. Of course, we're still waiting on our calendar for next year to come out and find out whether or not we're going to a "balanced" calendar thta would allow us to take a Disney trip next fall.

Ohana's looks so yummy. We've never eaten there.

Also - I also just noticed the server behind you in the picture with you and your DH. I *think* that is the server that we had like, 2 years ago.

She talked to us forever because she found out we were from Pittsburgh and she said that she moved down to FL from Pittsburgh! She used to be a server at Eat n Park. :thumbsup2

It's been a while, so it may not be her - but I am pretty sure it is. I love when you go back and see the same people working. It just makes Disney feel more like home or something :lovestruc

Keep trying!! :wizard: And even if you don't get an ADR, get there at about 4:30 or so and get in line and you may be able to get in! :goodvibes

I'm so excited for you going to the Poly!! :cool1:

Your pictures are awesome. We were lucky enough to get an ADR for our trip in April for dinner at O'Hana.

Now I really can't wait!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Welcome to the TR! :)

I hope you enjoy Ohana too!

Well this plate was probably the funkiest for me:

That and the pot-stickers! :scared1::laughing:

But the rest was delicious! :cloud9:

Sheila!! :yay: So glad you popped in. I was about to send a search party out for you!! :scared1:

I'm so sorry you lost power for so long. That really stinks. And Halloween was cancelled??? :sad2: Poor kids. Stupid snow. Yes, I knew exactly how Jack felt when he was growling and barking at the snow, I wanted to do the same.

I guess we did luck out with the BLT door being unlocked. I really didn't expect to be able to get in. I think I'd like to stay there someday too!

I think you guys will like Ohana, there's enough variety that no one should leave there hungry that's for sure!!

I didn't get the D&B bag. I have looked at several of them over the last year or so and I really want one, but I just can't justify the cost. I'm afraid I'd rarely use it. :confused3

How nice the CM's brought out different items for the boys! That was a lot of food!!!! I could go for some of that bananas foster right now! Yum!

I could go for some banana foster for lunch today! ::yes:::rotfl:
