That stinks that you couldn't find an AK snowglobe. I will never forget...in 2008 when we went for DD's 8th birthday, I bought her a small snowglobe that she really wanted. We totally forgot to put it in our checked luggage and put it in a carry on by mistake. Well, the TSA found the snowglobe, and took it from us. DD was in tears....believe it or not it was all she wanted the whole trip! I totally understand that TSA had to take it though. I am all for safety! So, I called the merchandise number and got one shipped to us!
We usually don't go for AK for more than a couple of hours. We do the Safari, EE, and Dinosaur. I think that's it!
I broke out the suitcases today...time to start packing!

How awesome is it that you finally ran into DeVine, I made notes somewhere about where she frequents in the park since I did want to seek her out if we went to AK. You got some great pics of her.

Crazy you can not find an AK snowglobe, I never even thought about it being hard to get them through security.

Devine is so cool!! I swear she scared the crap out of me the first time I saw her. That was before I had ever heard of her.
Everytime we go to AK DH wants to skip the safari but I just can't seem to do it. I do enjoy it. I also love the Nemo show too. But that's it for AK we're usually out by lunch.

Yeah... that happened to us too! Except it happened to be the same year my DH lost his wallet at DHS & didn't have any identification to fly home! Not a fun trip through security!

I wonder if they are selling fewer snow globes because of the stricter TSA guidelines?

We saw her back by Africa. Wasn't expecting it at all!

We don't really care too much for the safari. I think we've done it about 3 times in 7 trips. We saw FOTLK once and I loved it! But the rest of the family just thought it was okay. I'd like to see the Nemo show sometime!

I found a few last night that I am watching for a few days before I bid, but yes it would have been much nicer to buy it at WDW!!

How fun you saw Divine. She's neat but she has a bit of a creepiness factor to her IMO.

It's a shame you didn't find a snow globe. AK seems to be tough park when it comes to finding souvenirs. My sister collects fridge magnets and when she went with us in 2009 we searched every store in AK for one. She had one for WDW and one from MK, Epcot and DHS but we never did find her one from AK. I found her one when we went last year and brought it home for her but it's still not the same as getting it while you're there yourself.

That is just ridiculous and STUPID!!! Who is going to go to so much trouble to make one with something dangerous in it and use that to do something wrong? I mean really! This is just more of the TSA/government theater about security. I totally get that we need rules etc. about that stuff, but this is OVER THE TOP! It's a fricking snowglobe from DISNEY!!!!
I am perfectly willing to have myself and my stuff scanned, take off my shoes, wait in line and all that stuff. But when you take away a kid's souvenir and make them cry as they are leaving FL to go home, that's just MEAN!

In any event - I think that is just ridiculous. It's a SNOWGLOBE!!!! Just might be a bit too strict on some of those regulations. How dare they make a kid cry like that! It's bad enough we have to be scanned, take our shoes off, have our luggage searched (all of which I'm willing to do for what it's worth).
They should have a place just outside security that you can go back to and ship stuff from if that happens. I'd be willing to go through the line again for that reason.

I totally 100% agree about the snowglobe and all this tightening of the TSA policies does nothing to make me feel more secure. How awful for a little child to have their souviener confiscated On our last trip coming back through MCO DH had my TSA approved Laptop Backpack bag I told him about 3 times he needed to unzip it and lay it flat did he no just throws it up well one of the security officers went flying up grabbed it and yelled at him, but as this happened DH inadvertenly walk around not thru the metal detector and no one even noticed cause they were so worried about the unopened backpack. Just goes to prove TSA can lose site of the big picture focusing on these other things.......

Are you serious??? They didn't even watch where your DH walked because they were so worried about the laptop. Wow.

I remember once I had accidentally put a pack of Capri-Sun juice boxes in a carry-on and they confiscated them and threw them in the trash. Right in front of the kids!

And another time they opened up a bag and took out my quarters that were in an m&m tube (for pressed pennies) because it looked like a weapon... They did give them back though!

Good morning TR friends! Sorry I haven't had much time for the DIS lately. Stupid work! And it doesn't look much better in the coming few weeks, I have a lot of substitute jobs lined up already.

I'm tired!! But I just have to keep my eye on the big prize -- another WDW trip!! Whenever that may be....


It's snowing here!! Yes, seriously and it is still October. Looks like we are in for a long winter. I'm not ready for this!

And our trick-or-treating is tonight.

After watching Divine for quite awhile we headed for the exit and back to CBR.

When we got back to CBR we were getting hungry so we went straight to the food court for lunch. DS got pizza of course and I had chicken & fries. He had dirt pudding and I had pineapple upside down cake.

It was all very good. Average fast food I guess!

After lunch we made our way across the bridge/island and back to our room to see what DH & DS10 had been up to all morning!

Maintenance had been doing some trimming in the courtyard area outside our room.

We told them all about Divine and they told us all about those “giant birds”!!

I hear you about the SNOW!!! UGH It is way too early. We are on the rain snow line so I'm hoping we don't get to much.They're saying 2"- we'll see. Both my DSs have games in the morning and one is away.
I love the tree of life. All those animals carved into it- amazing!

I can not get over all the birds at CBR. Love the pics of the tree in AK.

It started snowing here about an hour ago (noon) looks to be about an inch on the ground so far they predicted 6-10+ for where I am. I am so ready to move to FL this is just too early.

Are the boys going as snow men for trick or treat? Crazy
