A Disney Geek-tastic Trip to the World Updated 3/27!

I know I'm late in getting here, but hoping I can follow along anyway PS Franklin's photo's are cool but you are a terrific writer!

Great first post! I look forward to reading the rest :cool1:

You guys are such a cute couple, by the way :flower3:

Thanks! Glad to have you here! :goodvibes

Joining in! DH and I love Disney and are staying at BWV for the first time this fall, can't wait to read all about it! We've also morphed from super-commando-visitors to much more relaxed, some of our favorite days have involved only doing a few attractions and just soaking it all in. We'll have our DD with us for the first time this fall, so that will be a whole new adventureprincess:

:welcome: We took our nephew to Disney last March for his first birthday and it really was a whole new experience seeing everything through his eyes. It was amazing! When will you guys be at BWV?

Joining in! I'm looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip. I love the boardwalk! :goodvibes

Thanks for joining! Lots of BW lovers around here. That resort really lives up to the hype, doesn't it? :cloud9:

Hey there. A little bit late but joining in :) I think your arrival photo looks fab!! What airport did you fly out of? We left from Reagan this past trip and I had to have 5 guys for breakfast. lol -Amanda

You're not late neighbor! We've barely just begun! We flew out of Reagan on our last two trips. But they exile JetBlue (or at least all the flights we've been on) to the really old part of the airport, not in the sparkly new terminal. It's got its up and downs -- I like that there's only a couple of gates in that annex, so the security line doesn't get as out of control as in the main terminal. But it has some seriously limited food options. We miss our Five Guys breakfasts that used to kick off our trips when we flew out of Dulles!

Great start to the TR! Your matching sweatshirts are so adorable.

You did get a great photo of the arches! It can be so hard to do, but sometimes the heavens align and they come out great. How did Franklin manage such a great shot too WHILE DRIVING?!?! :confused3 :rotfl:

Excited to see his photos of the resort. :goodvibes

Thanks Kristy! I was shocked Franklin agreed to wear the sweatshirts at the same time! :woohoo: My arch photo was pure luck (as are most of my photos that miraculously turn out in focus). Franklin has magical photography ways, though taking a perfect photo while driving takes it to a whole new level! :drive:

I know I'm late in getting here, but hoping I can follow along anyway PS Franklin's photo's are cool but you are a terrific writer!

Welcome! You're not late. Plus, anyone who thinks I'm a good writer is definitely invited to stick around! :lmao:

Totally off topic from our trip, but I wanted to share a bit fun with you all. A few weeks ago Franklin and I did an engagement photo shoot with our wedding photographers. And I wanted to show my Disney friends my favorite picture in the bunch...

missyfranklin_engaged53-L.jpg

We had Mickey ears embroidered with our wedding date and it turned out to be so cute! And just for fun, here are a few more of our favorites...

What beautiful engagement pictures, you both look so happy and in love. The Mickey ears are so cute, I especially like the one where you are in front of the window, so cute :bride:

I'm on board over here too! you are super ambitious writing two TRs at once, I can barely write one :rotfl:

Beautiful engagement photos! Wow! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!

Great pictures and great ears ;)

Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks. 10 years after we started dating and we're still very much in love!

I'm on board over here too! you are super ambitious writing two TRs at once, I can barely write one :rotfl:

Yay, glad to have you here too Marissa! I'm attempting to write two, they're a lot of work! I need to finish one before May, because if I have three TRs going at once, I may have to quit my job.

Wow! Those engagement photo's are great! I love the one with you guys in front of the big window.

Hi Missy and Franklin! I told you I've been lurking. But I just had to come out of lurkdom to say how adorable your engagement photo are.

Thank you! That's one of my favorites too! I noticed your ticker -- we stayed at AKL for the first time in October and LOVED it! You are going to have a blast!

Thanks Janet! I'm shocked how much I love the photos, I usually hate the way I look in all pictures! :lmao:

We last left off arriving at Boardwalk. I was first off the bus, so first in line!

DSC_5672-L.jpg

Andy was the CM who checked us in and he was awesome! First off, when I asked him about the new MagicBands and he told us all about the training they’d been doing with them. Apparently, they’re scheduled to start using them at Boardwalk sometime during the last two weeks of February.

He also is the first CM to actually set up our KTTW cards correctly. We like to put a different credit card on each of our cards and inevitably, we spend part of one of the next few days untangling the mess when it isn’t done correctly.

Our villa wasn’t ready, so we stashed all our carryons with Bell Services and set out into the sunshine.

Where were we headed? Somewhere very excotic...

DSC_5676-L.jpg

Yup, grocery shopping. Since we rented a car, I’d canceled our grocery order from WeGoShop. Our shopping list included sodas, beer, snacks and breakfast foods (Eggos, bacon and donuts).

We headed back to BW to add the groceries to our Bell Services stash. With no set plans for the afternoon, we headed for Magic Kingdom. I’d waited long enough to see Be Our Guest!

When we got to TTC, the Express Monorail line came all the way down the ramp. The CM said the Monorail had been down for a while, the ferry was our best bet.

DSC_5677-L.jpg

So off to the ferry we went!

DSC_5681-L.jpg

The ride gave us an awesome view of the new DVC building at Grand Floridian.

DSC_5684-L.jpg

Finally, we were here. I tweeted:

Hello beautiful. #mycastle #mk

DSC_5695-L.jpg

Freaking crane. If you can’t see the Christmas castle lights during the day, then why can they just leave them on year-round? That way, people with trips in late fall and early winter wouldn’t have to deal with the stupid crane.

More Main Street goings on... In case you hadn’t heard, Main Street Bakery is closed for a really long time so they can transform it into a Starbucks. I’m not as anti-Starbucks as other people, but does it really need to be closed FOR THIS LONG??!?!?!?!

DSC_5696-L.jpg

Man, I love this view. Yes, even with the crane there.

DSC_5698-L.jpg

But we were on a mission, we were hungry and antsy to get to New Fantasyland.

We were headed here...

DSC_5700-L.jpg

We had gotten a sneak preview of some of the pieces of NFL back in October. But The doors to Be Our Guest had been locked tight. I had even managed to avoid all pictures and spoilers. I wanted to experience it entirely in person for the first time!

The line stretched allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way across the bridge. But we had no other plans that afternoon other than BOG, so we hopped in line and enjoyed all the beautiful scenery.

DSC_5701-L.jpg

Check out all the progress they’re making in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Coaster!

DSC_5708-L.jpg

DSC_5705-L.jpg

Getting closer. Look! There’s the gate!

DSC_5709-L.jpg

DSC_5710-L.jpg

Finally, we arrived inside the castle. And wow, was this worth the wait!

Just to orient you a bit. You come through the front doors and take a right, into the room with all the knights. You wait in there to enter the study, where all the ordering kiosks are.

DSC_5735-L.jpg

DSC_5738-L.jpg

DSC_5736-L.jpg

After you’ve ordered, they hand you an RFID rose that you place on your table. That’s how they know where to bring your food.

We walked through the ballroom, which took my breath away.

DSC_5744-L.jpg

And although the ballrooms is GORGEOUS, I knew exactly where I wanted to eat. There are three dining rooms, but only two are open at dinner: the ballroom and the West Wing. The Rose Gallery is only open at lunch, so THAT’S where we were heading.

DSC_5746-L.jpg

DSC_5747-L.jpg

Mere minutes later, our food was wheeled out. The carts they deliver the food on are so cute!

DSC_5749-L.jpg

Let’s get to the really good stuff, the food! Franklin had the braised pork.

DSC_5750-L.jpg

I had the onion soup...

DSC_5752-L.jpg

… and the carved turkey sandwich.

DSC_5753-L.jpg

The food was simply amazing. Miles better than any other CS place we’d ever eaten in. My favorite was my soup. I even found myself pulling apart the toasted baguette from my sandwich and dunking it in my soup! Franklin practically licked his plate clean, which was his way of giving his meal two thumbs up.

Everyone be really shocked, but Franklin took more pictures on the way out.

DSC_5758-L.jpg

This sign marked the start of something big.

DSC_5760-L.jpg

Yes, you read that correctly. At dinner, BOG serves beer and wine. MK is a dry park no more!

Who’s a happy girl after her first meal at BOG? Oh, wait, me!

DSC_5771-L.jpg

And with one look back, we’ll stop there for now.

DSC_5772-L.jpg

Have any of you eaten at BOG yet? And for those of you with trips coming up, are you planning to eat there at lunch or dinner?

Thanks Janet! I'm shocked how much I love the photos, I usually hate the way I look in all pictures! :lmao:

[/CENTER]

Yeah, I have the same problem. But if you're ever going to like some pictures of yourself, your engagement pictures are a great place to start!

We have a dinner ADR at BOG for the end of April! Can't wait, I love French Onion Soup, and yours looked soooo good.

Love your engagement photos! What a cute idea to get mouse ears with your wedding date on them!! You both look so happy in the photos. :). Congratulations!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the peek into BoG. It looks beautiful!!!!

Hi there! Just found your fabulous TR and I'm joining in :)

I am a HUGE BoardWalk fan. We're staying there for part of our next trip (we leave in 10 days! Not like I'm counting...)

Glad to see such positive review of BOG! It's definitely on our list for the trip. I still can't decided between the options though...everything looks so yummy!

Great pics!

You both look so happy and beautiful in the engagement photos!

And that is my first view into BOG. Loved your mini photo tour. It looks like a wonderful spot for lunch.

Im finally all caught up again:) Love your engagement photos especially the mouseears one! We will need all your wedding details too now:lmao:

Be our guest looks really great and I for one am so glad that there's now somewhere to get a glass of wine with dinner :thumbsup2

Great pictures! And your BOG report made me hungry :thumbsup2

How long did you wait in line for lunch in BOG? Is it hard to find a free table after you ordered?

Thank you again and waiting for the next parts :yay:
