That makes me happy to hear! You can do it!!! And to be honest, I may end up walking a good part of the 1/2 marathon!

Not surprisingly I've changed some of our dinner ADRs. :lmao: The 1st night we arrive we're eating dinner at Chef Mickey's (originally we were at Crystal Palace). We have a 5:30pm ADR. I haven't booked our flights yet but I think we're taking a 7:30am flight out of LaGuardia (on Delta). That means we'll be up early! LGA is only about 30 min away (much better than Islip!) but I'm crazy about getting to the airport early. The 2nd night we're eating at Kona Cafe at 5:30pm. I think this is a better choice than Biergarten.

7 miles in 1hr 45min. Much of it was walking but it's still well within my time limit!!! :cool1:

Never say never! A year ago I would have said that I'd never run a 1/2 marathon....

My exciting news of the day????
I booked our flights!!! I can't even believe it. 7 people flying Delta out of LaGuardia and it cost less than our August trip for 5 people flying out of Islip. LGA is about 30 minutes away and Islip is 90 minutes away. Granted Delta charges for luggage but it was still less than $200 per person. And that was WITH travel insurance (it IS January/snow season for us).

I smilied when I read what you wrote about a year ago not ever thinking you would do a half marathon - I'm totally in the same boat! Six months ago I hated running and thought it was the most misreable thing a person could ever do to themselves! Now here I am running my first half this Sunday! EEK - excited but scared too! Keep up the great work and you'll be there soon!

I ran yesterday. 2.5 miles in 35 minutes. Not bad considering I only ran once last week. I missed my long run over the weekend due to the Jewish holidays. :confused3 I guess it's as good an excuse as any! :thumbsup2

I feel like I ought to be planning more for the trip but I'm getting overwhelmed with work and the kids being in school. Once life settles a bit, I'll ask for planning ideas!

:cool1: That's awesome! You have me beat with distance so far. My longest to date is 5 miles, but I'm a tad behind on my long runs. I plan to do 6 miles this weekend. I probably won't get to 7 miles until after I do my 10k at the end of the month and officially start training for the half.

I know what you mean. I haven't done much planning at all. Thankfully I have a partner for the trip so she's taken care of a lot of the main stuff.
 
My training has gotten a little behind (again!) due to my recent trip to San Fran and Jessica being sick. She's fine now but was sent home last Wednesday with 104 fever! I was pretty worried until I saw her. She definitely had a fever but she didn't really *look* sick. A little pale and a little tired but cheerful and full of personality. The fever broke after 36 hours so it wasn't terrible.
I'm trying to get back on track with my training. I've also gained a few pounds so I'm trying to get into a healthier place. I haven't been drinking enough water (too much coffee and diet coke!) and I haven't been eating great. There are lots of snacks at work and that's not good!!!
I did manage to run 2.25 miles in 32 min on Monday. I have an afternoon OR case today so depending on how the OR is going, I should have time for a run today. I really need to motivate myself! I've done better with my water so far this week but I need to keep it up!!! I'm especially bad on my OR days which is when I need the most water. We keep the OR rooms very warm for the little ones and you can get dehydrated very quickly.
Delta changed our flight times a little bit (6:30am departure instead of 7am and 6:40pm return instead of 7pm) but it doesn't much matter. I probably should pick a few ADRs for lunches but I haven't figured out which parks, etc. I know 5 days isn't really a short trip but 2 of those are travel days and one is race day so it's 2 full days and 3 short days.

I'm joining in! I'll be running my first half marathon in January too! I've been looking for someone else's PTR to read and I found yours! Now we can motivate each other!
