A Disney-addicted mom plans a trip in August, 2010! *New pics #574*

I know! I know! One week from tomorrow we will be in Disney!!! The 10 day forecast looks pretty good - mid to high 70's and sunny. Of course the weather in NY today is beautiful, too!
I'm trying to decide on wardrobe (without overpacking :thumbsup2 ).
I know I need a suit on Sunday. Since we'll have to check-out before my conference is over, I'll probably just wear my suit on the plane. I could bring comfy clothes in a carry-on bag but I don't want to put my suit in the carry-on when I take it off. Maybe I'll just bring comfy shoes in the carry-on? I guess I can see what time our DME back to MCO is and then decide?
Saturday night we have late ADRs at Bistro de Paris. Since we're staying at YC, I'll probably wear something nice to dinner that night. So I need a dress/nice outfit. During the day Saturday we'll be at Epcot. It'll be mid-high 70's so maybe capris and a t-shirt? With a sweatshirt for the morning?
Friday night we have dinner at Yachtsman. It's in our hotel so I can wear something nice to dinner and then change (back?) into park clothes. It'll probably be chilly in NY on Friday morning but I could wear long capris with a sweater or sweatshirt.

So what do y'all think?

Suit with trouser socks and shoes
2 dresses/nice outfits for dinner with trouser socks (wear "suit" shoes)
2 pairs "long" capris with matching t-shirts
2 sweaters/sweatshirts with "park" shoes
work-out clothes with sneakers
swim suit/cover-up/flip-flops
And the obvious: sleepwear, undies, bras, etc.

Do I need one extra outfit "just in case?" Should I bring a pair of long pants for our evening EMH?

Amanda

Hey Amanda. I think everything you are planning looks good.

However, I would definitely bring an extra outfit. I prefer to error on the side of too many than too few.;)

And I would make it a shorts outfit. Things are heating up down there now.:)

I'm not a big shorts person. I usually wear light-weigh capris all summer! I am a little worried about the temperature dropping at night. Especially the night we're planning to go to MK until late. I'm always cold!

Amanda

I think your clothes look good. I would bring an extra outfit, because you just never know. I mean, it's not as likely that you'll need an extra outfit since you aren't bringing the kids, but better safe than sorry...you don't want to a) either pay like $100 for a new outfit that you buy at disney or b) spend your short vacation doing laundry...or c) refuse to do either of those and walk around in gross clothes! Haha.

The countdown is really on now!

I agree about bringing an extra outfit- better safe than sorry! :)

Great! So I'll definitely pack another outfit (or 2 - I'm just like that!). I did have to buy a pair of pants on our December trip because Zachary vomited as our plane was landing. I had a change of clothes for everyone in the carry-on bags - everyone except me! Figures... Anyway, I bought a cute pair of capris at the gift shop at the Contemporary. They "only" cost $35. Not cheap but not as bad as I was expecting. They're plain khaki capris so fairly generic. They may be a little tight since I've gained a few lbs since that trip. :sad2:

I think I'll definitely want long pants and a sweatshirt for the evening EMH. I get cold. My DH jokes around that I have 2 temperatures: cold and very, very cold. :thumbsup2

I need to stay on top of the laundry this week so I have everything I need!

I know what you mean! I am always cold. It could be 76 degrees in the house and I'll still need to go put on socks or at least put a blanket over my feet (the throw blanket we got at Disney, of course!).

Disneystore.com purchases as displayed Easter morning:

My 1/2 marathon shirt is awesome. It's a cool mesh material. It's a bit snug but comfy. I ran my 2.29 miles today wearing it!

Jessica needed the most clothes since she doesn't have any hand-me-downs and has grown 2 sizes in one year!

Zachary LOVES Mickey!

The Swinter shirt is awesome but way too big.

Tom's 1/2 marathon shirt isn't quite as nice as mine but he likes it.

LOVE the Disney clothes! Wow, you'll be in Disney World soon! When I did our online check-in in May it felt like our vacation officially began, it was awesome!

So I'm not the only freak? :thumbsup2

Thanks! I got really good deals on everything (except the 1/2 marathon shirts which were wildly expensive). I can't wait for the trip!

Cute clothes! Ds loves Phineas and Ferb- he'd go nuts for that shirt. :)

Quick vent: Easter dinner discussion involving my parents, my younger brother, and us.

Background: I'm from a big family. There are 5 kids in my family. My older brother has 1 child (and wants another), my step-sister has 2, I have 3, my younger brother has 1 (and is likely trying for #2), and the youngest is still single. We all get along pretty well but we definitely have different lifestyles, etc. My older brother lives in London (England) and is pretty snooty. My step-sister live in the San Francisco area and they're outdoorsy. My younger brother lives in NY and they're a bit tighter with their money than the rest of us. The youngest is pretty flexible and lives in Madison, WI.

The Story: My mom was saying that my older brother was going to have the week between Christmas and New Years off and was trying to figure out a family get-together since we all so far apart. We definitely can't do 2010 since we're running the 1/2 marathon in early January. So my mom suggested 2011. So far so good.

We started talking about possible destinations. My younger brother kept saying, "Any place we can drive." Which is fine for us (he lives about 45 min from us) but not necessarily realistic to the other 3 siblings. I know my step-sister's family would choose a ski vacation but many people don't ski and there will be children too young to ski. I didn't dare suggest Disney. My DH suggested a cruise as a good choice for everyone. We started talking about a 3 or 4 day DCL trip as a possibility. The shorter cruise would make it more affordable. My younger brother even seemed to think it would be a good idea. My mom looks at me and says, "There's no way your older brother would ever do a Disney cruise."

Whatever. It was just an idea. We don't even know if this "trip" would pan out anyway. But why can we consider a ski trip when half the family doesn't ski and we can't consider a Disney trip because my big bro is too stuck up for Disney?

My conclusion: Someone else can plan this trip and then we'll decide if we want to go!!! ;)

Amanda

Families can be so frustrating! I really don't understand why a Disney cruise couldn't even be considered- especially if another cruise might be? :confused3 I've been on a cruise and you can make it as nice or as laidback as you want so it seems like a great compromise- something for everyone!

Anyway, hang in there and I hope it all works out!

Wowza! That's a lot of Disney stuff in your Easter basket!

I love your Disney marathon shirts. Where did you get them from?

 about the family trip planning. I have been right there with you. I have family who just don't get it at all. It used to annoy me, but I now just ignore it (although I have to admit, sometimes I forget my own rule!)

At least you put the trip idea out there. Who knows, after all ideas are canvassed, someone may circle back to it. Let it sit and see what happens....

Love the shirts especially the Donald in training shirts. You'll get lots of use out of them:goodvibes

Lovin' all of the Disney shirts! :cool1:

Very frustrating with the family trip. I think you're doing the right thing - let them plan it and decide if you want to go. :thumbsup2

I think my older brother would object more to a cruise than to Disney!

The 1/2 marathon shirt was from the disneystore.com. I think it's in the section about buying stuff from the parks?
I know what you mean about forgetting your own rule!

I already packed my training shirt for our upcoming trip!!!

I'm such a planner that it's hard for me to not make suggestions. But I'm trying!
