A Disney-addicted mom plans a trip in August, 2010! *New pics #574*

It's a quick trip, but it sounds great. I think if I were you I would just take it easy around the boardwalk and pool after you arrive. With the crowds MK will be a madhouse and if you're going over after dinner you can enjoy it then. That is great you'll be able to do Spectro and Wishes. I just love Wishes! And Saturday will be great. Just think you can actually browse around the World Showcase without kids. That sounds heavenly. And such grown up and yummy ADRS!:cool1:

ETA: Great job on the run too!

I'm very excited about our ADRs! I think it'll be an exhausting but fun weekend!!!

Whoohoo! :cool1: Congrats for finishing week 6, I'm 5 weeks behind you! ;) Week 7 is fun, I was amazed that I could run the whole time, I'm looking forward to getting back to that. I just have to watch the runners knee.

Good to hear. I feel like I'm making progress. Even when it's hard!

That sounds really great. It will be so much fun for you to explore disney without the kids...take all the time shopping you want and stay out really late without worrying about whose schedule you're messing up!

I know. We've gone enough times that I don't care that much about the rides and stuff. Just the atmosphere. And having the luxury to just relax and enjoy a parade without worrying about Zachary running off or someone needing something. I spent most of dinner tonight running into the kitchen to get something for someone else. I'm looking forward to leaving that behind!!!

That sounds so great- a nice relaxing ADULT weekend. *insert wistful sigh*

We are lucky! Although I'm amazed at how much $$$ it's costing us to take a work trip. It'll be worth it though!

You and I are almost exactly in the same place now on the program. :thumbsup2 Hoping to tackle the 25 minute run today and move on to week 7. Great job!

Your ADRs sound awesome! :cool1:

I kept thinking of you as I looked ahead to the 25 min runs. I, like you, may need a few tries to get through it. But I will!!!

One of my high school friends contacted me on Facebook last night to remind me that he lives in Orlando. I had forgotten! He's going to try to bring his family to meet us in August. And maybe even show up to cheer me on in January. His wife is SO nice and his kids are totally cute. It'll be fun to hang out with some "locals" on our trip!!!

I'm trying to convince my parents to come on our January trip. I know my MIL wants to come, too. The issue is that my parents don't like my MIL. With good reason (the stories are long and involved but, trust me, my parents know how to behave!). Ideally I'd get a 2 bedroom villa for my parents and us. Then my MIL could stay in a nearby studio. But that might cause hard feelings. :confused3 We've stayed in a 2 bdrm villa with my parents before and it worked out (big kids slept in my parents' bedroom and Zachary slept in a pnp in our room). My MIL tends to stay up really late and sleep in so I can't really have the kids share a room with her. What to do??? I guess the other option is for us to get a 1 bdrm, and have my parents and my MIL each get their own studios. I'd really prefer at least a one bdrm for us because I think we'll sleep better in a separate bedroom (and a king bed!). Since we're running 13.1 miles, I want to maximize our chance of success.
Suggestions please?

Amanda

Hmmm...not sure how to handle the rooming situation as btwn your parents and your MIL. That's a tough one.

But if the parents all get their own studios, at least you would still be able to have the kids sleep with them the nite before the marathon. In some ways that might be better...one of the kids could go with you MIL, the others with your parents and you and your DH wld not have to worry about waking anyone, walking through the unit in the dark or talking in whispers before heading out to the race.

Ooo, that is a tough situation. My Mother and MIL get along, but would never be able to vacation together either. I would say both Moms get separate studio, so there are no hard feelings.

And that is neat that your old friend is going to try and meet up with you!

Agreeing with the others that both moms get seperate rooms to avoid hard feelings. I know you'd rather have your parents close by but if it comes down to everyone getting along- not only for the week but for the years to come (because these things do get drudged up over and over, lol) then I'd opt for seperate rooms.

Thanks for the suggestions! I was only hoping to have my parents stay with us so I wouldn't have to hire a babysitter for race day. I don't want my parents and children to have to get up at 4am that day. Although I guess the kids could just sleep in my parents' room the night before. :confused3 I have plenty of time to worry about it!

Exciting news! My step-sister (who lives in California) has an annual work conference in Orlando in January. This year's conference is January 10th so she's definitely coming early to watch me run the half-marathon! She said she's going to try to figure out how to bring her kids, too. My kids LOVE her kids and we don't see them very much. That would be awesome!!!

Holy Moly! I'm going to Disney in 11 days!!!

Amanda

:banana::banana::banana: 11 DAYS!!!:banana::banana::banana:

That's so great that your step-sister and her family will be there to cheer you on! :lovestruc

I'm pretty excited about both things!!!
We've found it works better for us to "meet up" on vacation rather than have everyone go to my parents' house. My parents "downsized" several years ago and their house is a bit small for the entire family.

I did my 1st 25 minute run today and I survived. The little guy is at daycare but my older 2 are home with me. They kept me company during my run and my eldest even ran upstairs to refill my water bottle! They know that mommy needs to run in her race so we can go to Disney in January!!!

Amanda

Have fun on your trip!! That's awesome that your step-sister will get to see you race, and hopefully her kids will get to come, too. I was (and still am) very close to my cousins growing up; I think it's an important relationship for kids to have.
Hmm, I'd have to agree with the 1-bdrm/2 studios idea if your parents and MIL come along in January. You'd avoid hurt feelings, and as PP said, then your kids could stay with them the night before the race so you don't have to wake anyone up so early.

Sounds like you're doing a great job with your running! Too funny that your kids know you've got to be in tip top running shape to go to disney. Now how else can you use this to your advantage? :rotfl:

Awesome job Amanda!!:thumbsup2 Keep it up!

Can't believe how close your trip is getting!

And wonderful news about your sister's family joining you in January.:goodvibes

Thanks! My MIL may be ok with my parents staying with us bc she knows they can help with the kids and she really can't. If I put the proper "spin" on it - You'll prefer to have privacy and not have to deal with the kids getting up at 6am - she may be happy with the decision.

Oh yeah! When they ask me to do something for them and I'm running on the treadmill, I just say "Mommy needs to practice for her race so we can go to Disney!" I try to run at the gym whenever possible and only use the home treadmill when I don't have childcare available.

Awesome job Amanda!!:thumbsup2 Keep it up!
