A Disney-addicted mom: Disney cruise, Family trip, Running trips! *Update 2/18*

Is a fish extender one of those things you hang outside the door? 200 people? What are you going to buy?

A fish extender is the thing you hang outside your door. And then you exchange gifts. I think we're getting bubbles and little beach balls that say "I love NY."

43 DAYS!!!

That's right. We leave for Florida in about 6 weeks. Can't. Wait.
I still need to order Fish Extender gifts from Oriental Trading. I really want to start packing but I know that I have too much to do before that. And it'll be warm enough here that I'll want our summer clothes.

I think I have at least one roommate for Marathon Weekend and I think we've agreed to the Poly. Depending on whether boyfriends/husbands are going along, we may have 1-2 more roommates. I think it'll be a super fun girls' weekend! I also think it'll be much more fun with a roommate. She's running the Full Marathon.

ToT Weekend is really jam-packed with events and fun. They released the race course this week and I'm a bit disappointed. Lots and lots of road running and not so much running in the parks. WE do run through WWoS which will be interesting and we finish near ToT. But we get to ToT via a backstage area (I guess because the post-race party will take place on Sunset Blvd.). I'm really hoping the entertainment is good. My colleague had a great outfit suggestion. Buy a black cape and attach some glow-in-the-dark stars to it. I think I'll get a short cape (probably a child sized cape) so it doesn't annoy me too much, especially since the temps are likely to be HOT. I'm waiting for Sparkle Skirts to release their Halloween designs so I can buy my skirt (I emailed Leah at Sparkle Skirts and she reassured me that she'll have a few designs for the race).
I'm going to skip MNSSHP since we're doing the very, very expensive Lou Mongello event on Friday night instead. I would be disappointed that I'm missing the party but it won't be fun without a group and I'm hoping the ToT race is an annual thing....

I did 2 runs this week. Now I'm sick so I'll probably skip my 6 miler tomorrow morning. Unless I'm feeling better. Tom was sick all week so this is his fault. :rolleyes1 Busy weekend, too. Tomorrow is our elementary school carnival. Both Jessica and Nathaniel are performing in the talent show. Only a handful of kindergarten kids are participating so I'm proud of Jessica. Then on Sunday we have Jessica's ballet recital. I HATE that it's on Mother's Day but what can you do??? The recital is at 1pm and Jessica needs to be there at 12pm. We made brunch reservations for mid-morning. Both grandmothers are coming. I'm sure it'll be nice.
I also know that I'm getting a waterproof camera for Mother's Day! I'm super excited. We spend most of our summer weekends at the town pool AND it'll be great on the cruise, especially at Castaway Cay!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Amanda

This is all exciting news!!!

Especially about the camera! Can't wait to hear all about it. Sorry I didn't get to my underwater camera throwdown/splashdown review yet.

Happy Mother's Day and enjoy the recital. I would say "break a leg" to Jessica, but I don't think you do that for dance recitals.

:lmao:
I'm not 100% sure which camera I'm getting as I left it in Tom's hands. But at least I'm getting one. :thumbsup2
Jessica is a born Diva so she'll be great!

I know I've been missing for a few days. On Monday evening we said goodbye to our beloved black lab, Buffy. She really deteriorated very quickly and it was time. The house is so very quiet without her here.

In happier news all of the stuff I ordered off Etsy for our cruise arrived this week. :thumbsup2 I ordered a personalized pillowcase for each child. I'm wondering if I should present them to guest services with the Sharpies and then give them to the kids at the end? Or to I give them to the kids at the beginning, before they are signed? :confused3 We also got cruise autograph books. For the same price or less than it would cost for me to make them, I got 3 personalized autograph books. They are nice! I think the ones I order off of Shutterfly are slightly higher quality but also more expensive and more time-consuming. I'll probably make my own for our August trip but I'll only make one for everyone to share. And we got 5 personalized cruise magnets for our stateroom door. Everything arrived quickly and seems very nice. I haven't shown the kids yet because it's been such a tough week.

Oh Amanda, I'm so sorry about Buffy! :( It's so hard to let go of them, even when it's time. I think it's a cruel joke that our amazing companions only live such a short time compared to humans.

PICTURES PICTURES of these things! I'm a visual person, you have to show me! ;)

Amanda- I'm so sorry to hear about Buffy. My heart goes out to your family. I'm sure it has been very rough on the kids and you and Tom. Pets are such an important part of our lives.

I hope planning for your upcoming trips will help distract you from the sadness.

I'm sorry to hear about Buffy. We've lost pets in the past, but the kids knew it was for the better. They saw our old dog starting to suffer but are happy that she's not in any pain anymore.

What kind of magnets did you get? Does each person have character? I made our magnets last year - I had Stitch, Bambi had Minnie, Madison had Izzy (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates) and Evan had Jake. I'll have pictures up on my TR eventually!

So sorry about Buffy. I feel your pain. When we lost our Bailey (yellow lab), the boys were 5 and 9. It was really hard for them. We got our Indie (black lab) 2 years later. It will be much more difficult this time around I think. The boys are much more attached to Indie

Thank you for the condolences.
I don't have pictures...yet! Life is getting in the way of my DISboarding!

Thanks Dee. We're pretty sad. :sad1: But still looking forward to the cruise!

Thanks for the condolences. She had been sick so it wasn't a total surprise.
I got Goofy for me (since I'm running the Goofy!), Pluto for Tom (in remembrance of Buffy), DCL magnet for Nathaniel (he picked it himself), Minnie for Jessica, and Mickey for Zachary. I should have been more creative (Zachary would have loved Jake but I didn't even think of it until right now!). The guy who made them (and the autograph books) was SO nice and very fast!

Thank you. My kids are pretty sad (and Tom and I are devastated - Buffy was our 1st baby!).

Life has been busy. I was in Atlanta for a work conference. I've been sick with a horrible sinus infection for 2 weeks (finally getting better!). And just trying to manage all the day-to-day nonsense.
I took 10 days off of running due to illness but managed 6.32 miles today in the heat and humidity. Next 10K is in 2 weeks!
Our town pool opened today so we had a nice day at the pool. Now if only I could potty train Zachary.... :rolleyes1

We finally got our cruise documents! I can't believe it's in FOUR weeks!!!! Very excited! My TA also emailed me that we get an AP discount on our Fort Wilderness Cabin. It saves us another $50. Not a huge amount but I'll take it! I still need to order our FE gifts but I'm waiting for us to get paid next week.

I moved my flight for ToT weekend. Instead of leaving NY at 10:30am on Friday, I'm now leaving on Thursday night. There are so many activities on Friday that I don't want to miss. I won't get to BC until around midnight but the race on Saturday night starts at 10pm so it's good for me to get used to staying up late. The race expo doesn't open until noon on Friday so there's no need to get up at the crack of dawn anyway. After the race expo we'll head to the WDW Today podcast event at Fort Wilderness. Then back to BC to change clothes and off to Lou Mongello's event at Epcot. Crazy, right?

Official ToT 10 miler training begins today! :yay: I started on a good note. Ran 3 miles in 36:35. I went to the gym and did it on a treadmill because it's 90F today. :scared1: I hate running in this heat and humidity.

Nice! It was brutally hot here on Monday, so I switched my run to last night. What a difference a day makes - from 90 to 68. Made for a much more enjoyable run!

:cheer2: Go Amanda, Go! :cheer2:

Thank you!

 I'm very sorry for your family's loss.

It's been a sad time. We were lucky to have so much quality time with her.

I hear you! Today was nice but I'm a little sore after yesterday so I'm resting. I'll try to run tomorrow. Saturday I'll have to do a treadmill run because Tom is going out of town.
