It all started when I was a baby...

Well, I thought that I should write a pre-trip report after seeing so many others writing one. I kept hemming and hawing and I thought I better do it before June comes along so here it is...I'll start out by introducing myself and giving you a brief history of me and my path to Disney obsession. Other family members will be introduced as we go along. Oh yeah. The first couple bunches of pictures will not be the greatest of quality as I had to take pictures of pictures. Poor little ole me has no scanner.:sad2:

So now hold on tight cause here we goooooooooooooooooooo.......:tink:

My name is DawnMaree and I am, uhm.....well....okay, 41. I don’t really like to announce the age anymore but we’re all friends here and Disney makes us young at heart, right? I am a full fledged Disney obsessed stay-at-home mom with time on her hands to browse the DISboards probably more than I should.

I sometimes like to joke and say it’s my Mom’s fault because she placed me in Donald Duck high chair as a toddler. She doesn’t think that’s funny, but I do.
P1000233.jpg

I know you really can't see the Donald Ducks in the chair but you have to trust me here. He's there! Work with me people! You may be wondering what I am eating here. A tub of margarine. Now isn't that the most adorable thing? Thanks Mom!

Moving on down the years...in the summer of 1975, when I was 9 years old, my parents took us to California for a half vacation trip and half to console my grandmother who had lost her husband (I’m not sure what number he was...he was not my grandfather). In fact, I didn’t even know that was one of the reasons we went out there until years later. My dad really made it our first real big fun vacation. Grandma at the time lived in Monrovia (southern California) and we did all the touristy things like China Town, Olivera Street, driving up the mountains, Universal Studios :offtopic: , Marineland (not there anymore), Santa Monica Pier. That was before the Pier was really all built up with the rides. Peter Falk was there shooting for his tv series and I went up and got his autograph because all the adults were too chicken. I had no idea who he was but knew he was famous. My mom took that autograph and now I want it back! And my mom had her camera stolen with all the pictures she took of the tv shoot. SHOOT!

Oh yea, we also went to a little park you all may have heard of. It’s called Disneyland. That was back when there were E tickets. I remember going on the Madderhorn a bunch of times - glad my Dad was/is a ride junkie. Here’s a pic of me, my little brother, and my cousin with Snow White and Doc. I'm on the left. Ya know, I heard that Kevin Costner's first wife used to play Snow White around this time. I wonder if this is she?
P1000226.jpg

I wish I knew where the pic of me with Dopey was. I remember that everyone kept telling me to kiss his nose and I kept thinking, “Ew...how many people have kissed his nose? Gross.”

Did any one ever go there when they had a smaller train ride that went into the painted desert? Here's a pic of that scene. Sadly, another ride gone...
P1000301.jpg

I think my mom only took like 5 pictures that whole day - either that or some of the pictures she took were the ones that were stolen in her other camera. She took way too many of Universal Studio though! :confused3

Well, I fell in love with Disneyland and every time I went back to California I just had to go to there. Boy, I thought I was really cool the first time I got to go there alone with my cousins. We thought we were quite hot! Too bad I can't find any more pictures from those times. Sorry but you may have thought I was just to hot to handle anyway! :upsidedow

The last time I went to Disneyland was back in 1993 during Easter time with my parents and my brother. It was really fun but the following year I met my husband and he stopped me from going back to California! :rolleyes2 So stay tuned for part 2 when I introduce DH and our (okay, maybe just my) newfound love....Walt Disney World!
....Meeting my husband and getting married

I'm the first to subcribe!!!!

Great start!!!!! Yay DM-olic!
Yippee...my best DIS stalker is the first to subscribe. I knew I could count on you! :flower3:

Actually, I had subscribed, I just couldn't leave a message at the time

DM-olic, this sounds like it is going to turn into a TDS (True Disney Story):rotfl:
I see you're into a heated competition with Courtney. So far: Courtney 1 .... Tony 0 popcorn::

You got me already and I don't even read pre-trip reports!! :lmao:
Thank you so much for subscribing to my first pre-trippie! You made me feel great with what you said. :cool1: I'll try for my next installment tomorrow....

I am glad you started a pre trippie, and I am also glad you took pictures of pictures :rotfl: as I had to do the same thing!!! Great start, keep it coming!!!

Thank you. Guess who gave me the idea to take pictures of pictures? None other than YOU! I had never thought of that. Even tho the quality is not that great, it gets the point across and everyone likes looking at pictures!

wow - the painted desert - that's going back a way!
Are you aging yourself? :lmao: That's for reading!

Flash forward to 1994. That is when I met my husband, Rob. We met at a bar :drinking1. Funny cause we weren’t the types to frequent bars then. I say then cause I used to be quite the little party gal. I remember dancing away to Madonna and all them funky dance songs while ordering screwdrivers. Nope, not going to show you any pictures of me back then. Let's just say I looked like a Madonna wannabe and we'll leave it at that. Not a pretty site.

Anyway, Rob and I just knew we had to get out and meet someone as we had just broken up from other people and needed to get back into the groove. At the time, Rob was a friend of a friend of my brother. We all went out one night and we clicked right away. A couple of drinks let to us doing the gross out PDAs (public displays of affection). I just knew he was the one for me :lovestruc and his little sister confided to me that Rob's mom said that "I was the one". She's probably hitting herself upside the head now for that one :rolleyes1 .

Rob was a volunteer :firefight when I met him. Look at how rugged my man is here....
P1000273.jpg

This is the first picture that Rob took of me. He caught me off guard but continues to say till this day that this is my normal look at him. Nice huh?
P1000271.jpg

You will also notice how nice and slender I am here. Those were the days. You will also probably make note on how I "grow a little" each year after our wedding...

So we moved pretty quickly from our first meet/makeout session. He moved in with me 1 year later.

Oh, I had to share this funny picture of us at his parents' home. I love it. It reminds me of American Gothic picture.
P1000277.jpg

So, Rob is a real outdoorsy kind of guy. While my family took us to Ocean City, Maryland, almost every year for vacation, his family went to the Adirondacks. Here is a picture of me on the first time he took me up to Lake Placid. We had about a million stairs to climb up onto this rock platform. But check out the shoes I'm wearing... Yup, I'm quite the hiker gal, eh?
P1000274.jpg

We were married 2 years on July 5, 1996.

More wedding photos to bore you with...

PDA:rotfl: sounds just like the time I re-met my soon-to-be DW (we knew each other in high school, but met back up 7 years after I graduated) We had some PDA going on that night  Now she gets mad at me because I am VERY anti-PDA:rotfl:

can't wait to hear about the Disneymoon:cloud9:

Great pre-trippie! The pics are too cute! No PDAs when I first met my DH... I thought he was a dork, and he dripped spaghetti sauce on his shirt! :lmao: I married him anyway... and still have to scrub Spaghetti out of his shirt! Can't wait to read more!

My Ryan is very against PDA too... I'm like, holding my hand is not gross... Act like you love me

He's actually gotten better about it though, now that we are married. He'll hold my hand and hug me, etc... But no make out sessions!

DM-olic--- I LOVE LOVE LOVE your wedding picture! Yall look amazing!

DawnMaree, we seem to have a few things in common. Although I did not meet my husband in a bar, we did have our first kiss in one. We also went to WDW for our honeymoon (in '86) and you were married on my daughter's 9th birthday. Loving the pictures - especially your hiking "boots" :lmao:

You Hooked me in. My DH and I met coaching opposing girls volleyabll teams. :)

Okay. That was the first and last time Rob & I had our PDA. I think it was just the heat of the moment. I may get an occasional hand hold but pretty much all that has pretty much disappeared and turned into..."Are you watching Brooke? Quick run and get her!"

When I was browsing my old photo albums I just had to put a couple of them in this report. I worried about people wondering why the heck am I putting my nonDisney pics in this report but I had to have a "lead up" to our, uhm er, my Disney obsession.

You Hooked me in. My DH and I met coaching opposing girls volleyabll teams. :)
Thank you for reading. Coaching opposing volleyball teams eh? My dad used to play volleyball a lot. In fact, he once was in a tourney where Tom Selleck was playing also. Dad was a volleyball coach quite a few years back for the Empire State Games. I don't know if you know what those are but I was young and single enough back then to enjoy the players...;) -- their playing I mean!!!

So I am late as always subscribing to a pre trip reprot:rolleyes1 I am here though. I just love these pre trip reports. They are always so entertaining, expecially when I sit and read them ALL day long and nothing else gets done..;) Story of my life.

I m looking forward to your next installment:thumbsup2

Thank you both for reading my pre-trippie. I'm trying real hard not to bore people too much with the history first. I figure pictures help fight the boredom. My next installment will include our honeymoon at Disney World so the good pics that more people want to see will be coming....:cool1:

Just because I can, I decided to sneak in a few more wedding shots ;) . I love looking at other people's wedding photos. I hope there are a few of you that care enough to browse the couple more I put in here. Just amuse me, okay?

Here's our wedding cake. Since we couldn't decide on what kind, we each got our own flavors on different tiers. I got lemon cake with lemon filling and Rob got chocolate cake with chocolate filling. It was yummy!
P1000309.jpg

We didn't do the "smash cake" in each other's faces but we did something close. We took one piece of cake and started to nibble at each end, ending up in a smooch at the end. It was just a bit messy but really fun.
P1000308.jpg

Oh, and on our DISers Stalking DISers thread, we had a chat going about wedding rings so I decided to throw in a picture of our wedding bands...:rolleyes1
P1000307.jpg

And then, to top it off, here is our wedding announcement in the Syracuse Post Standard. They misspelled my mother-in-law's name. It should have been Marla. Funny thing about that is at our reception, the stupid DJ actually pronounced her name Marlo and the whole reception shouted out in unison - Marla! I was pretty ticked about this because I really took the time to print out everyone's names very neat. If you know me, I have very neat printing so there was no mistaking my A's for O's. Plus, he didn't even bring my premade sheet to the reception. He chicken scratched his own list of wedding party members. It's a good thing I looked at it because he had left out my matron of honor and best man! WhatEVA!
P1000306.jpg

Oh, did I say I would get to my Disney World picture??? Well not in this post but it's coming up in a couple of minutes....I PROMISE! :surfweb:

Next installment....
Our Disney World honeymoon...part I
