I am so freaked out right now! DH went to work and took a bunch of computer stuff that was in the corner of the kitchen and had been there for a few weeks. When I went into the kitchen a little later I saw a black/brown fuzzy thing in that corner. Upon closer inspection it was a dead small bat. Blech!
I used the mat near the door to pick it up and throw it on the back deck. The mat then went in the garbage. I've been bleach mopping the kitchen floor all morning.
I called public health and they want us (and by us I mean DH) to put it in a container and bring it to a testing lab. They think it most likely either got in the house when we were away last week and died, or came from our attic (where we're doinf renovations) and died. Because we never saw it flying around they think it's highly unlikely that it touched us, but we need to get it tested for rabies just in case. Once again, BLECH!!
I basicly want to throw away everything in the house on the off chance it touched it. I, of course, won't, but I'll be cleaning everything all day today, and I do mean everything!

At least it was dead and not flying around. I'd be
. My mother had one flying around her house but was finally able to trap it in her porch and then open the door from outside for it to leave.
He is my hero.
