A Daily Lesson in Parenting and Manners: A TR by a real life Wicked Stepmom!

When last we met, Sally and Teddy were frolicking about in the spitting ground fountains near Ariel's grotto. They had gotten sufficiently sugar high from their non alcoholic slushy drink, they had new shirts on...they were wet...and happy.

Jay and I relaxed on the bench while we sweltered and chitty chatted.

Life was good.

It wasn't long before Teddy came running up to us to announce that he was WET!!!

I gave him half and eyebrow arch and said

"Yes you are buddy. You made a choice to get wet. I'm sure you feel nice and cool now...and you are happy with the CHOICE you made...aren't you." Statement...not question.

He flashed me an impish little grin and dashed back into the world of spitting fountains.

He was happy.

Sally came over not too long after and sat down next to her daddy.

"Daddy...I wish we could move here. To Disney. It would be so happy every day right? Because then you could help kids who have special needs and MissCammie could teach everyone to have nice manners...so then you could have jobs..."

:lmao:

"And I could be a princess...Princess Sally...and I would be in a movie so girls would wear my t-shirts and have dolls of me. And probably Cinderella might let me live in her castle with her because it has so many rooms and she's nice."

I asked her what Teddy would do for a job and she said without missing a beat,

"Garbage collecter...or Toilet cleaner...or being in charge of the GROSS Stitch ride because he would think it was funny because he's gross too...probably."

Teddy would actually love any of those jobs I'm sure...

at that moment Teddy came dashing up to his sister and touched her on the leg and screeched "TOUCH!!!", before running off again.

For some reason, the act of Teddy touching her and screeching TOUCH when he does it, infuriates Sally more than almost anything else in this world...almost more than RULE BREAKERS!

Since Teddy had run off before Sally could react all she could do was huff. She was building up some steam. I could see it...her eyes had narrowed, her arms had crossed and she was breathing heavily. I was fairly sure that if looks could kill...Teddy's goose would be cooked...to a crisp.

Sally turned those furious little eyes on me. I backed up a little...b/c she was a little scary.

"MissCammie. When I grow up I am going to have a house. And if Teddy comes to my house I am going to LOCK ALL THE DOORS...AND THE WINDOWS! And he will NEVER EVER come into my house. EVEN IF HE NEEDS TO POWDER HIS NOSE...REALLY BAD. Because THEN he will know that I do NOT like him. AT ALL!"

:lmao:

Staying serious at that moment was more difficult than any thing I had ever attempted in my life. But I knew if I had laughed she was going to kill me.

With her bare hands.

"Sally when you are a grown up you can make the choice as to who comes into your house and who does not. I hope you will not hang on to your anger for that long. But if you do...I'm sure that Teddy will be VERY sorry for touching your leg...when he was five..."

*ahem*

She was okay with that reply and said "GOOD!"

And with that, it was time to get a move on. I wanted to ride things. I had my second wind. I was ready and rarin to go.

I called Teddy over. He wasn't too wet. Just slightly sopped. He had his little finger out and was preparing to give Sally another touch, but I caught him before he did it.

"Teddy...are you supposed to touch other people's bodies?"

"No" *grin*

"Are you being respectful of Sally's personal space when you touch her without her permission?"

He had to think about it for a second.

"Ummmmmm...let me think"...(When he says this, he scratches his chin and taps his forehead. It is the cutest darn stalling tactic I've ever seen!)

I slapped him with an eyebrow arch.

"Yeah, exactly. So here's the deal...if you continue to bother Sally and disrespect her personal space, we are going to have a fight...and you don't want to be in fight with MissCammie because..."

Teddy's eye's lit up. He knows the answer to that one!

"Because if MissCammie isn't happy, then NOBODY is happy!"

Precisely.

*ahem*

"And if I'm not happy I start handing out consequences...so straighten up and keep your nose clean mister!"

Teddy LOVES it when I say that. He gave his little nose a rub to show me how clean it was. Then he hopped into the kid transporter.

Sally's feathers were still a bit ruffled, so she opted to walk instead of ride with her offensive little brother.

We walked a bit and rode stuff. We did Mickey's Philharmagic again. I will NEVER get sick of that one. I love me some Donald Duck. He's so...me.

We rode Peter Pan again...as the line was strangely short...for like five seconds.

We did it's a small world. Sally loved that one. She likes rides with music she can sing along to. I was terrified we'd get stuck on that ride and I'd go slowly mad as that song imprinted itself on my brain, never to be erased. I like the song. I do...but anything repetitive starts to bug after about 10 minutes.

I'm fussy. I know. It's part of my charm...

*ahem*

Sally just loved the little people.

"MissCammie LOOK!!! It's Scottish people like Daddy!!!!!! How comes there's Eeyore food in Scotland?" (Sally was referring to Thistle's!)

100_1427.jpg

"Because Scottish people like to eat thistle's to show how tough they are...and how smart they are..." ;)

it's true...it is...seriously...

*ahem*

Jay gave me a look. I batted my eyelashes at him and threw a kiss. I do so LOVE to tease my husband...love ya hunny...mean it!!!

:flower3:

"MissCammie LOOK!!! There's Irish girls like you!!! And a rainbow!! How come there aren't thistle's in Ireland? How come there are rainbows?"

100_1428.jpg

"Because Irish people are the chosen ones. We are shining beacon's of magic and love...we leave the thistle eating to the brutes of Scotland. We go to university and get educated instead..."

*ahem*

Just at that moment a large foot stepped ever so slightly onto my manicured toes.

Which I so deserved.

And the pedi held up.

:teeth:

I took pictures of all the cute things the kids exclaimed over...

Teddy loved the leopard! I think it's a leopard...

100_1434.jpg

and the Panda (my personal favorite endangered species!)

100_1430.jpg

and the Pink Camel!

100_1431.jpg

We all loved the Platter-ma-pus..es...(which how Teddy says the word!) The child pointed and said "MissCammie LOOKIT!!! Plattermapuses!!! Did you know that they are native to Australia and they are egg laying mammals!! And did you know what else?! The males have spurs on their hind legs that have venom and it can make a human sick and even KILL a dog...if a dog got spurred by one..."

wow...knock MissCammie over with feather...

Jay gave me a look and said "Private nursery school was worth it huh?"

AND HOW!

So...here's the Plattermapuses...

100_1436.jpg

It's a small world was a hit!! It's a classic. We love us the classics!

It was starting to get near dinner time. The kids sugar high was wearing off and their tumblies were getting rumbly...

So we figured we'd wander until we spotted something.

Sally was walking along beside me...calm as could be...when suddenly she stopped dead in her tracks.

She gripped my arm...HARD.

"What is it Sal? Are you okay?"

Her little nose was twitching. Her eyes were darting from side to side.

Uh-oh.

"MissCammie...someone is...*sniffsniffsniff* someone is SMOKING!!!!"

:headache:

"MissCammie...someone is SMOKING...AT DISNEY!!! Where there are CHILDREN!!! WHO IS SMOKING?!"

Sally does not like smoking. At all. Which is good. We don't like smoking either. But Sally really hates it. Not only is RULE BREAKING in her mind's eye...it's DANGEROUS RULE BREAKING!"

She surveyed the area looking for the evil wretch that would dare to smoke in side the gates of Disneyworld.

Once her eyes found the smoker she gave a little jump.

"THERE HE IS MISSCAMMIE!! HE'S SMOKING!!!"

She looked at me expectantly.

"Yes Sally. He is smoking. But he's smoking in an area set aside for people to smoke..."

She gave me a most withering look.

"MissCammie Mickey does NOT let people smoke at Disneyworld...does he?"

I hated to break it to her...

"Yes Sally. Smoking is allowed at Disneyworld in certain areas..."

"But MissCammie I can smell it. That means I am BREATHING it. And TEddy is breathing it and Daddy. And babies. And ducks. Because if you can smell it, you are breathing it. Which means your lungs turn black and your teeth get yellow and plus it's DISGUSTING and not fair because it's not my fault that smoking is a gross habit and I don't smoke but I can SMELL IT so it's like I'm SMOKING and I don't want to smoke because..."

"Sally I KNOW. I'm sorry that you have been subjected to smoke. But it is what it is and I can't stop that man from smoking because it's his choice to make. And I KNOW that it's not your choice to breathe it. But let's not get hysterical. Let's just make a choice to go AROUND. Because we CAN control where we walk."

I gave her an eyebrow arch just to make it clear that hysterics were not going to be tolerated.

Sally threw an evil eye at the smoker as we walked by. She went into a sudden and LOUD coughing fit just to make it clear how deeply wounding this second hand smoke was to her lungs.

Not a big fan of smoking our Sally. And she will let you know it.

Her final thought on the matter came out like this:

*cough*

MissCammie...smoking should be ILLEGAL. It should be NOT ALLOWED at Disney because people bring their kids here and it's not fair that we have to get sick because other people can't even control themselves for ONE DAY and it is GROSS and not fair.

*coughhackcoughcoughcough...coughcough...cough*

Yes Sally.

Who's hungry?!

Teddy helped me change the subject by shouting

"Teddy is hungry!!! I could eat a ROCK I'm so starving!!!"

:rotfl:

we decided on Cosmic Ray's Cafe. I had never been there before. It looked empty which was very appealing. We wouldn't have to table stalk. I was ready for a seat and an eat!

It was lovely and air conditioned inside. We found a seat right in front of Cosmic Ray himself. Teddy LOVED it!!

He was fairly sure the alien was REAL b/c it had LOOKED right at him. Sally wasn't so sure...but she was happy enough to sit and watch...and breathe clean air...

*ahem*

Jay brought us our food...which was pretty much the same CS food we eat everywhere. The kids were happy with hot dogs. Jay and I had a wrap...and some sort of odd salad stuff...

overall we enjoyed the meal. The kids loved watching the lounge act. Sally manned the video camera and people watched through the lens. She was especially interested in a little girl who kept running up to the stage. She was about two. She was dancing and screech laughing. Sally watched her for a long time.

When we were packing up to leave Sally turned to me and said

"MissCammie...could you please hurry and have a sister for me so we can add to the girl's team?"

:rotfl2:

Sure Sally...I'll get right on that.

up next: WISHES!!!! and...Day TWO begins...Epcot!!!

"Because Irish people are the chosen ones. We are shining beacon's of magic and love...we leave the thistle eating to the brutes of Scotland. We go to university and get educated instead..."

MissCammie, I love your TR. And Sally. :grouphug:

AND HOW!

Holy jeebsus, this remindes me of my husband's younger daughter... out of nowhere lately she's been bringing up all these big words... A butterfly comes out of a chrysalis... chlorophyill is what makes plants green... and bats find their food by echolocation! She just started school (no way we could have afforded to send her to any kind of preschool :guilty:) and she's taken to it like a duck to water. Go Teddy!!!!

"But MissCammie I can smell it. That means I am BREATHING it. And TEddy is breathing it and Daddy. And babies. And ducks. Because if you can smell it, you are breathing it. Good for you Sally!! Way to think of the ducks' health!! :thumbsup2: :rotfl: I just lost an uncle to lung cancer*, which they JUST discovered like two months ago... they were treating him for allergies and an upper respitory infection, and when that didn't go away they discovered he had lung cancer. :scared1: Keep fighin' the good fight, Sally!

*I'm not looking for sympathy, we wern't very close. Just trying to back up Sally in her crusade! :wizard:

Those two are priceless!!!

I am happy to see a new episode MissCammie~

Thank you

One question tho...

What is LittleMissHatesHerBrother gonna do

when the time comes

if you happen to add one to the boy's team :scratchin

Miss Cammie, I have to say I enjoyed this entire update. However, the best was definitely saved for last:

When we were packing up to leave Sally turned to me and said

"MissCammie...could you please hurry and have a sister for me so we can add to the girl's team?"

:goodvibes

You know what the sweetest part of this is? She's asking YOU for a sister. Not her mommy (that we know of, and not that there would be anything wrong with that. No flaming please because I absolutely wasn't going in that direction with my comment.)

I'm just sayin'...on some level, maybe a really deep one that she's not even really aware of yet, Sally realizes the tremendous gift that you are to her. She senses the value in your relationship and she wants to share something with you that is so special that she couldn't share it in the same way with anyone else. Your child. Her sister.

Though she might run rampant in her 'little imp' clothes sometimes, that's an angel you've got there.

Thanks for the update. As always, your family is in my thoughts.

:flower3:

Thanks Tink-ing...I appreciate your constant supportive comments and thoughts!

Sally asked her mommy once if she was going to have kids again. Her mother told her in no uncertain terms that she would NOT ever be having another child. It seems there was also a graphic explanation of how a doctor has to DIG a baby out of a woman's body. Sally is now emphatically insisting that she will NEVER have children.

:lmao:

I actually asked Sally Rally what she would do if I ended up having a boy instead of girl. She said very simply

"Well don't."

:rotfl2:

gotta love that logic!!!

/
DBF's little brother once asked Santa for a sister. When I told DBF about it, he was shocked. I truly think that a little sister would just become a punching bag for him. He asked for this while his parents were still living together even though they were going through a divorce. The mere thought of DBF's mom being allowed to have another child scares me.

MissCammie, thanks for another great update! I will have to check out the update of IASW sometime. Just so inconvient to get there, it would take like 30 minutes out of my workday . Time to drive 15 minutes, park, take the monorail, walk over there, all that stuff.......:lmao:

When my kids were little they fought (annoyed each other) all the time. Now that they are young adults (23 and 28) they love each other, as I am sure is the case with most kids.
So I have every confidence Sally and Teddy will have dinner together at Sally's house.

Sending pixie dust and  that things will soon get better for you and the family. Those are some great kids.

So glad I checked in with your TR today; I was rewarded with an update!:thumbsup2

Sorry your family is going through the rough stuff.

I absolutely love your Small World photos; I wish mine looked like that. It's my favorite MK ride, and I tried to do it justice by taking 50 pictures. Only the last 20 or so turned out...but none as good as yours.

Thinking of you and yours; hang in there.:flower3:

Thanks so much Miss Cammie for another great chapter:goodvibes

So sorry to hear Sally Rally is having a tough go of it.....I can't imagine
the pain of having to watch and go throught all of that, without
having any control:sad2:
Kerri

Thanks CampbellScott for the update! The pictures were a great touch and I always love it when Sally busts the rule breakers! :thumbsup2

You and your family continue to be in my prayers.

Well I just read your TR and I absolutely LOVE it. I burst into laughter at some parts especially at some of the stuff Teddy says. Keep up the good work, you're a natural. :goodvibes

Great chapter, MissCammie! I know things are probably crazy for you right now, and I appreciate the time you took to write it!

Denise

I think the reason I love reading your trip reports is that your family reminds me so much of my own. In your writing I also remember our wonderful trip. It looks like your going back at Christmas. If so have a wonderful time! :santa: Thank you for taking the time to write it helps me get through a looong work week.

Ahh Miss. Cammie, thanks for the update. I have been missing the Campbellscotts.
I need some lessons on the whole eyebrow thing.

Hi Cammie,
Thanks so much for the update and new chapter. Sorry to hear about the pink eye - I hope it is cleared up by now.

Love that Sally wants a little sister - my DS wants to have a little sister also - so he can be the big brother - instead of the little brother. But that's not going to happen so I told him he could be the dogs big brother - DS is 4 so he said sure that will work, and proceeded to tell the dog what he could do and couldn't do...:lmao:

I hope everything calms down with you and the stress eases up.
:grouphug: to all.

Finally caught up!

I am loving your TR and am tearing and laughing along with the rest of your fans...

Cannot wait to read more!

Another great update!! :cheer2:

That Little Miss Sally is something else. She reminds me so much of my DD (who also LOATHES smoking :thumbsup2 and will let you know it too).

You and your family are in my prayers. :grouphug: As I tell my DH during his stressful times, "God brought you to it, God will bring you through it." He knew there were two awesome kids who needed someone like you.

Antoher great update

Im Scottish and Irish so does that make me a thistle eating chosen one? :)
