hi guys-
i have been looking into getting a small pedometer--i walk alot while on campus( junior in college) and would love to be able to track how many steps i take...
I dont want to get a very expensive one, and i want one that is small so that i can wear it at school without a problem..
any ideas where, and how much?

also, how many steps should i aim for every day?

thanks for any help you can give!

Jen,
I bought a cheap pedometer at Sports Authority (the local fitness/gym store) and I would love to say it was about $10.
Many programs say to aim for 10,000 steps a day, which is few for a lot and way to much for others. Some people have bought pedometers that can be set for your specific stride, but I don't know much about them.
As a teacher, with my workday walking all around the classroom and school and if I get my 1 hr. of walking in...I get to 10,000 steps.
I would try speaking to someone at the local fitness/gym store and see what they have to say. I'm sure there is some knowledgable staff member that can help you find the best one for you! :)

Mine is a Sportline electronic pedometer 330. I do need to replace them every few months as the battery slows down and only counts 1/2 the steps.
I buy them at Sports Authority for about $10.

When I first started using pedometer I had a $35 model from Sports Authority. But didnt want to keep replacing them for $35. I only use the steps counter not the extra features anyways.

I do aim for at least 10,000 steps per day which I usually get by 1/2hr walk in the morn, 1/2hr at night and my daily walking around.

Its a great incentive for me.

When DS & I were at WDW Aug 13-27 I kept track of my steps - averaged 25,000 per day. One day I was up over 30,000!

Does anyone know the equivelent mileage of your steps? Doesn't 10,000 steps= 4 or 5 miles of walking? I'm curious because I want to get one for WDW and see how far we walk in a day. Thanks! :goodvibes
