How much does ebay charge to list something?
It's 35 cent to list an item you're pricing at $9.99 and under (i think it's 5 cents less to start under $1.00).
Then it's 60 cents to list an item up to $24.99-there is a scale which can be found on Ebay. There is also a FVF or final value fee if that item sells which is 5.25% of the final bid (if it's above $25 or so the % is a bit higher).
Is it better to use a reserve price or not? That's up to you, ideally you'd be better to stick with non reserve unless the amount you'd except is rather high (kinda keeps the listing fee down, but you are charged a reserve fee which is a certain % if your item sells). There is a lot of controversy about "reserve" auctions. I personally try to list all of my auctions at the minimum I would accept. Sometimes reserve auctions make buyers wonder if that seller has something to hide.
I have a paypal account, how do I accept payment using pp? You can just check off on your auction when you do your listing that you accept paypal. I believe you have to be registerd with a checking account though (not just a credit card). Paypal will go through a verification process to approve your account. You can set it up as accepting only e-checks or current funds which you wouldn't have to pay a fee. If you want to accept credit cards then you would be charged a fee of 2.9% + 30 cents if the item sells and this is added to the total cost of the item (including shipping). This is considered a "premier" account and once your registered this way you will still be charged the same fees for e-checks and current funds. The % varies if the total is higher.
How do I know what to charge for shipping? There is a shipping calculator-you'll need to enter the weight of the item and the zip to where it's going. It's good to have a scale (I purchased one on ebay that is very precise). I usually post a shipping scale on my listings or just give a ballpark figure for lighter items that go First Class (under 13 oz).
Would it be better to sell items individually or as an entire lot?
That is entirely up to you. Depends on the condition of your items, what they are and if they are name brands or not.
In your case if you're thinking about selling AVENT bottles, you might want to do a search to see what they're going for, if they're selling individually or in lots.
I can tell you name brands in good condition may be better to list individually. Items that aren't name brands or that are in more "used" condition may sell better in lots. As far as clothes go, infant clothes sell better in lots. Just depends on sizes, what it is, etc.
Your best bet is to do some searches of some of the items you have or to search similar items to see how they're listed and what they're going for.
I may be off in some of the % and prices I listed above but you can go through a tutorial on EBAY which is very informative. The book, "Absolute Beginner's Guide to EBAY" was very helpful for me.
GOOD LUCK!!
