a couple of cutbacks we noticed

The nice thing about the smaller bottles ... the 24 oz bottles with sport caps also had a 2nd (clear plastic) cap on them. The clear plastic cap was frequently merely tossed anywhere, rather than making it into a trash can. I know quite a few cast members who complained about the nuisance of the caps ... and one that sprained their ankle by stepping on one of the caps.

It looks like they have just discontinued the large sized water and changed the format and paper of the maps. Not sure either is a biggie. The maps might come across as flemsie and may not hold up as one poster has mentioned causing some who need to refer to them more frequently (i.e. the newbie :scratchin) to require fresh maps by the end of the day, but if the size is more convenient, I don't see an issue.

I believe most newbies obtain new maps when they enter each park. Even some of us oldies do that.

Our two boys have to have a map as soon as we enter a park each day. They refer to them all day long. This, even though my nine year old could draw an accurate layout of the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom when he was three.

I don't even get a map anymore and haven't in years. Do the other Disney regulars grab maps still. I have no use for them as I already know where everything is. The only ones I do get are the MNSSHP ones so I can see what is going on.

It's the same in our house, must be something about these GA kids!

I make notes on the maps in order to write reviews and trip reports.

actually i kind of wish disney had little bitty maps that i could put in my wallet and use that as a means to get around. i hate the fact that the maps are so big and hard to fold back up because they end up getting wrinkles and tears and whatnot.

I usually grab one just so I can check showtimes and parade times.

I'll have to do that this trip as there are new shows starting. I had the other ones memorized!

It's a pity Disney can't make special maps for newbies. Also the water issue - if you've ever had Zephyrhills water and then had Dasani - you would really know the difference. I was so glad when Disney changed water! If Dannon is even better then I have to try Dannon....

I sometimes find myself referring to maps of AK and MGM, for the lesser-visited attractions and restaurants. I can't remember the last time I needed a MK or Epcot map. I still grab them though, because they make nice souviners! Especially if you're into scrapbooking.

Dasani water is a product of the Coca-Cola company, so I doubt they will change the brand of water they sell.

Dasani, Dannon, and Evian are all made by coca cola. The 24 oz bottle sports cap still is made, it's a little more pricey than the 20 oz bottle.

If Disney wanted to go cheap they could switch to Dannon as it is much cheaper.

According to surveys, the 20 oz dasani is rated higher by consumers because they can finish the product prior to get getting warm, people hate warm water, and 4 oz of warm water usually gets wasted.

The Coke Expert :) my 9-5 :thumbsup2

Wow..thank you for the very informative post!

It sounds to me like the 20 oz bottles are actually more ecologically friendly, as the extra water and packaging of the 24 oz bottles are often wasted. So Disney and Coke are doing the right thing by going with the 20 oz bottles. :thumbsup2

. . . I say good for Disney on the park maps. If they can find a way to save money in a way that does not affect my vacation experience . . .

1) This is not a Disney savings.
2) All maps are supplied free by Kodak.
3) So, it is Kodak that is saving the money.

We go through so many park maps during a trip, I don't mind that they are printed differently. I like to save a "good copy" for when we go home, but the others get destroyed every day by being folded, soaked, etc. that they rarely make it a second day. Besides, they are specifically printed for a limited amount of days, so I'm sure they toss a bunch when they're outdated. If it makes a little less waste, it's worth it. Now that our DD is a teenager, we end up all taking maps for those times we are separated. We've been there enough times that we don't need the map, but the event times are handy!

Then you don't need a map, just the printed cards they give out with the show/parade times. They are considerably smaller. That's about all we get these days. I rather prefer them for their smaller size. Unlike a map, you can walk and look at the card at the same time. (okay, well maybe some folks can't... :teeth: ) If you check in to a resort at WDW, they usually give you a folder with all the park maps inside. Sometimes I hold onto those to give to other people who are going, or as a souvie if there's something special about it.

The change I've noticed the most in recent years, is the level of cleanliness. It used to be, just a few years ago, that one NEVER saw dirty bathrooms. It was one of the things we used to marvel about. how could WDW be so sucessful at keeping the floors t.p. free when nearly every other public bathroom in America has this problem (And who, by the way, is dropping all this t.p. on the floor? Is it really so hard to hold in your hand for the distance between the dispenser and the toilet?) Now tp on bathroom floors at WDW is rather common, as are unflushed toilets, etc. It's too bad.

Wow, I thought we just caught EPCOT on a bad day this past Sunday. My fiance and I have not been in about 3 years, so when we got annual passes this past weekend and made a quick jaunt over to the World, we were surprised that the bathroom cleanliness was not there. He had a difficult time trying to find a bathroom clean enough to use while we were there. I told him to stop by guest relations and say something, but he said he just thought we caught them on a bad day and didn't say anything.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

I didn't notice this as a problem 2 weeks ago. I was actually paying attention to see if they were bad or not, so I could report to you all, and they were not. No mounds of tp on the floor, no stalls so gross we couldn't use them. I actually remember them being bad in May '05, so this time I was pleasantly suprised.
